Owner description: The Campuhan Ridge Walk is arguably the best known Ubud trek and with good reason. The sparse crowds and the aesthetically rich vistas remind one of why people from around the world come to Bali. The trail starts at the historical origin of Ubud, the confluence (or Campuhan) of the Wos Rivers.

This walk on the ridge was a surprising find. Quiet when we were there, it is an easy 1km or so walk to the rice fields. As many have mentioned, Kafe karsi is a good place to stop and rest before heading back to the center of Ubud. I wish there were more of these quiet walks around here without having to worry about cars and the state of the sidewalk!

Beautiful easy 40 minutes early morning walk out of Ubud traffic zone! So many shades of green - too many to count! Also saw many birds - blue kingfisher, swallows, yellow finches- before the path came to a small village. Farmers were harvesting their rice crops and children calling out 'hello' to me. THIS is the Bali I remember! I stopped for a mango smoothy at Karsa Kafe which has some cool huts you can lie in over a water lily pond. Then I did a massage at Karsa Spa which was the best I've had in Bali or Australia! Great day all round. Definitely recommended.

Plastic bags everywhere in nature, when the city of Ubud will start to think of manage this problem growing everywhere in Bali ? The fist step would be to put garbadge containers on the way (the second, education in schools...) If you do this walk, prepare your own plastic bag and collect some garbadges, as I saw some tourists did ! Shame on Bali...

Best to ask your concierge to order you a taxi to the start point, unless you want to trek way out of town. Get the taxi to drop you at the far end of the ridge, and then its a pleasant (downhill!) walk of about 1/2 hour through the countryside down into Ubud town. Very peaceful and scenic.

It's an easy, paved walk. Beautiful view of the ravine/valleys but you can't get close to the river. I recommend starting from the north side and walking into town to go to Cantika Spa and Sari Organik for lunch right after.
