We stayed at this villa for seven nights and had the Swan room. The villa is nestled about 10 minutes drive from Ubud. From the time you walk in, you feel relaxed. You are greeted by a large and airy space, which is the heart of the villa. The rooms are tastefully decorated in Balinese style, each with a unique feel. All rooms come with both an indoor and an outdoor shower, comfortable bed with mosquito netting (insects are inevitable in Ubud) and the amenities one would expect. Every morning a complimentary pitcher of filtered water is placed in the room. WiFi is also available just in case you have the urge to check Facebook. The villa boasts a fabulous pool, outdoor dining area and indoor amenities. Breakfast was delightful, and you must try banana pancakes. The villa does not have a dinner "menu", but the staff are quick to prepare any meal upon request or recommend local restaurants to suit your taste. The villa is owned by an Australian couple, Dean and Robyn, and managed by a local named Komang. He makes every effort to help navigate your stay in Ubud, including local transport, coordinating excursions, and bringing a Bintang whenever you feel like one. Dean and Robyn are caring, gentle and really take the time to ensure your stay is pleasant. Needless to say, no trip to Ubud would be complete without a stay at Saraswati.

Villa saraswati is truly a peaceful sanctuary in the hustle and bustle of Bali. The owners and staff will go out of their way to help you and are extremely knowledgeable. Worth a visit. The villa is slightly out of town so worth contacting the villa for an airport transfer.

Set 15 minutes north of central Ubud, Villa Saraswati is a quiet and homely villa run by Australian couple Robyn and Dean. The location wasn't a problem as villa staff will drive guests in and out of Ubud 3 times a day and a taxi is only around $AUD4-5 if you want to go at another time. The Balinese staff are wonderful - great for local advice and very kind and attentive.

The rooms are lovely and the outdoor shower is a great feature. There are large, open communal spaces for reading and eating as well as a media room with tv and large collection of DVDs.

While it's a lovely, intimate villa with only 6 rooms, it did at times feel like we were staying at someone's house - the owners are living in the villa while they build their own home nearby and seem to keep a close eye on guests and staff.

The fabulous breakfast prepared for guests each morning is a highlight.

This is a stylish, elegant villa tucked away in the village of Payogan. The staff and owners are extremely helpful, which made our stay very enjoyable. We had the Lotus room (best room in the Villa) which was private and with nice views. The pool is great for both lap swimming or just mucking around. The no-children policy was definitely a factor in our choosing to stay here. We utilised the shuttle bus to town (3-4 a day) and when I got lost, the driver came to pick me up (many thanks!). Great breakfast (choice of Balinese or Western). Very good value for money. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Book the Lotus room if you available...best room in the Villa

Villa Saraswati provides a quality of service and comfort that makes a holiday perfect. The Villa is set in a beautiful and tranquil location and an architectural masterpiece in itself with the rooms generously proportioned, well appointed and fully serviced with an attention to detail and quality that can't be faulted. What really makes a stay at the Villa perfect though, is the quality of service, level of attention and genuine friendliness provided by the staff. A wonderful experience and one I hope to repeat soon.

Room Tip: All rooms have an individual charm and quality. You won't be disappointed!
