“Good food!”
Reviewed February 20, 2014 via mobile

I tried the food at the restaurant and it is satisfying from taste and price range from $1- $5(food) and $1-$2 for drink. Perfect for your breakfast, lunch or dinner..close to central ubud by walking. The porch is windy.

I am reluctant to give full praise to Wahyu Bungalow, because it always felt my own private, secret place. But then, I want them to prosper, so let us let the cat out of the bag. Located immediately beside the football field in the center of Ubud, this charming guest house is an easy walk to the market, the tourist office, the palace, the great restaurants of the Jalan Raya. I first stayed here more than ten years ago, and always enjoy the warm and homey welcome I get there. The pleasant breakfast selections are included. Inside the garden compound, the noise of the street disappears, except perhaps the distant wafting sound of the gamelan orchestra at the nearby school, but that too is part of the charm. A great place to stay, with helpful, knowledgeable staff.

Room Tip: For me, the private bungalow with A/C, just inside from the cafe, is the best in the house.

We stayed for 5 nights on a standard room with queen bed, ceiling fan and private bathroom. Our room was right next to the pool which was lovely. It was about 370000rupiah, including breakfast. Excellent central location, great for watching sports on the football field! Wayan, the host, was friendly and had advice about tours etc. Ketut works in the restaurant in the evening but works as a driver during the day and is absolutely lovely. Best thing was probably the food - great Indonesian food and not expensive. Wifi available but only works properly in common areas. Overall a great place to stay.

I came to this hotel from Kuta where I had stayed in a bog standard city hotel - lots of traffic, shouting tourists and late night bars. Wahyu bungalows was a refreshing change. It is right in the middle of the cultural centre of Ubud, so you're surrounded by amazing local food and relaxing tinkling Balinese music, the grounds are tropical and it is within walking distance from the main road and Monkey Forest (which is a must).

I was a solo traveller and this place is excellent for this, as the property is small enough so that the manager Wayan can get to know all of his guests, and he gave excellent advice about places to go in Ubud and helped to arrange transport for me when I decided to leave to Gili Air. For the price I paid (rp 250,000) the room was excellent - big bed and huge balcony. There was no air conditioning in my room, but I found that I slept quite well with the fan on. While there were some bugs (which I found was the case everywhere in Indonesia though) I found that I didn't have any trouble with mosquitoes as the window mesh seemed to be doing its job.

The location of the bungalows is great, next to the football field in central Ubud but in a quite set back road. The bungalows are beautiful and spacious, though do lack some furniture to put some stuff onto. There is a nice garden and a nice pool and every bungalow has a spacious porch where the great breakfast is served in the morning.

There are two downsides to the place: First, the nicely looking garden is not too well maintained and therefore nurtures a lot of mosquitos with its standing water. It is therefore impossible to sit on the porch during nighttime at all and during daytime without mosquito repellent. The windows of the bungalow are not entirely closed, so you also have the mosquito problem inside the bungalow and there is no mosquito net and no possibility to hang your own.
Second, the only english speaking person of the staff, wayan, is very friendly and appears helpful, though mainly wants to sell some tours etc and drops the friendly attitude if you book it somewhere else (cheaper)!

Room Tip: There are quiet rooms located in the garden and less quiet ones located towards the street.

We loved Wahyu bungalows. Wayan was so sweet and welcoming. The location cannot be beaten, right downtown, next to the soccer field. We had so much fun watching all of the local activities in the field including a soccer match, elementary school band practice and flag waving practice. The rooms are spacious, clean and cool. The pool is lovely and we were happy to be able to cool down in it. The prices are very fair. A great address in Ubud!

We are a backpacking (flashpacking) couple and stayed here in June 2013.
The place is amazing. It is mellow, rustique, beautiful garden and nice swimming pool. The rooms are HUGE! and have balconies or a veranda if you stay at the ground floor. Water pressure at second floor is poor, for showering, but the bath tub fills rather quickly. Guess the shower slows the water down...
Wayan, the guy that runs the place, is very very friendly and willing to give you a lot of information and always in the mood for a nice chat. He can also arange nice trips for very good prices!
The location is very good too, in the centre of the town. It is also situated right at the football field, so you can watch football matches every day ;)
If you want your room to be cleaned you will have to ask for it, which I think it's a good thing, thinking about the environment ;).
Room rates are between 225.000 and 400.000, depending on what kind of room and what time of the year. It's including breakfast, which is served on your balcony :D!
The food is very good, though maybe a little bit expensive.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to other people.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor have balconies and there is wifi on the balcony (a little). The water pres...
