My girlfriend and I recently finished high school and came to Bali after spending 2 weeks in the gili isles. We didn't book as we wanted to check the places out first and Weren't sure how long we wanted to stay. After meeting made bedulu, a very friendly local driver (number is 082236293407) he told us about the place and drove us there. Immediately we were sure it was the place to stay. We were upgraded upon arrival, the locals and staff were friendly and very attentative to all our needs, the view is incredible especially with the vanishing pool and the rooms very clean with a beautiful outdoor bathroom. Whilst the location is approximately 6km away from ubud and we were worried about this, we found it worked to our advantage. It's close enough to easily venture into town at any time yet far enough to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and reside amongst the incredible green scenery. In fact there's small temples and a beautiful river that flows just 30m from the villas. However, despite being very reluctant at the start, I would recommend hiring scooter as prices to and from town can get a bit pricey over time whereas the scooters are something like 60,000 rupia a day (though not for the faint hearted). If your looking for something very layed back and traditional, you can't go wrong with villa dedari. Our only criticism would be the food, as there are not many eateries nearby that I'd recommend and though very edible, it was a bit basic and we preferred to eat elsewhere which required venturing into ubud. I would defintey recommend this place to friends and family and look forward to returning one day in the near future.

Speaking of reccomendations, we suggest visiting: coffee plantation, casa luna, kupu kupu barong, sari organic and ryoshi. Poernomo (the manager) will assist you with directions or can drive you there.

Booked the entire place unseen, all 7 cottages for a 4-5 nights for our wedding guests. Have to say I was a bit disappointed when I dropped in for a surprise inspection visit few days before my guests were slated to arrive. Cottage 1 was in appalling shape, small and dingy, bath shower area ceiling had fallen down from the rains, it was super filthy, scared the hell out of me. The other cottages saved the day however, they were pretty decent, some dead cockroaches here and there but thats not a biggie in Bali nature. So we didnt have anyone stay in 1 but the rest were full with our guests. Breakfast was bad and cold according to my family and they couldn't eat there, but the other side did order food and were Ok with it, not smashing though. Have to say the view is breathtaking, the pool is nice, there are a few tall steps but not so bad, location is not the best but not that far from central ubud by car, staff is really nice and manager Pournomo tried his best to accommodate all our requests. I wouldn't go back to stay there, many better options overall unless you need that many rooms at an affordable price in that area, which is why we booked it in the first place :-)

We had high hopes for Ubud Dedari based on the many good reviews which are on here. However, they do not reflect our experience.

The villa was dirty and unclean, the sheets were stained and there were stray hairs in the beds. We hesitantly complained, and were moved to another villa, which was equally dirty. Dead insects in the bathroom, dirty floors, etc. Not to mention the living insects - we were regularly visited by a host of spiders and scorpions. We are not terribly fussy people, but for the price we expected at least the basic things to be right.

The food was terrible and overpriced. It was both the lowest quality and highest priced food we have bought anywhere in Bali. The isolation of Dedari means you have no option but to pay, unless you are willing to pay for the taxi back into Ubud. While the isolation initially sounded like a boon to us, and we looked forward to some peace and quiet. The reality was just that we spent a lot of money on taxis. During the day all we could hear was the sound of chainsaws. We left at every opportunity.

I would like to say better things as the manager did try to resolve our issues, but he could not solve the fundamental problems we experienced in our week there. Beware.

I stayed with my wife on our honeymoon recently for 4 nights and here is my opinion:

Location 2/5: Far from ubud center BUT really quiet.
Room 2/5: Need some serious maintenance, A/C not really working in between old and small for room size, termite dust in the middle, mold bult in bathroom.
Cleanliness: 3/5: Some stained towels, some smelly but not allways.
Internet: 1/5: Not avialable at villa (n6) only at reception.
Staff: 5/5: Their best asset, really friendly and hard working.
Pool: 4/5: Nice view to valley looked very clean, maybe too deep for child even for me 1.85m.

Would stay here again maybe if can find a better rate and be prepared to hire a cab everytime or rent a motorbike (only if skilled, indonesia in general its NOT a place to learn to drive bikes).

We write this review on our last of 6 nights staying at Dedari Villas and we are already starting to get the holiday blues. During a short 2 week holiday we travelled around Bali & Lombok and Dedari is by far the best place we have stayed during our holiday.

The staff are nothing short of amazing and are very attentive. Their knowledge of Bali, Ubud, the culture and the local nature is amazing. Ask one question, you get the answer for a million others you were about to ask. We learned so much during our stay here. They are very proud of their island and community and even taught us about the local kingdom as there was a royal cremation during our stay (this was a once in a lifetime spectacle and we were lucky enough to share it).

It was one of our birthdays during our stay and we were presented with a cake and a sing song of happy birthday which was a really thoughtful gesture.

It's not in the centre of Ubud but we would trade the hustle and bustle of Ubud for the peace and serenity of Dedari and pay a small taxi fare every day. The setting is just out of this world.

The rooms are very well presented and depending on how fussy you are, depends on how often you get your linen changed. Bare in mind, the staff are very much focused on being Eco friendly and do point out that linen is changed every 3 days, but if you want it changing more often, place the card on your bed (it's no problem). Breakfast is served on your porch/veranda where you can enjoy the sounds of nature as you eat.

As sunset approaches, it's advised to get your insect repellant on as you are in the jungle and if you are a magnet for bugs, they will have a nibble. Staff also light mozzie coils every day just as sunset approaches which helps too.

Geckos do enter your room (two types of gecko here. The bigger ones make a kind of "eh, oooh" noise. The smaller ones chirp like a bird). You may not see them, but you will hear them in your room in the roof somewhere. They keep all the bugs away so they are good to have around.

Dedari are also great for organising tours and trips around Bali. They organised a driver for us for two day trips and could have easily made a bit if mark up by asking us to pay directly to them. Instead, they told us to pay the driver "but maximum is....". They do genuinely want to look after their guests in every way possible.

In short, if you come to Ubud, you have come to see "traditional" Bali, "traditional" culture etc. the centre of Ubud is not very traditional, it has many restaurants, bars, shops and warungs. Dedari is in a village called Bedulu and is VERY traditional.

There really could not be a better way to finish a holiday in Bali.

Staying at Ubud dedari villa's was amazing. Located outside the busy streets of Ubud surrounded with jungle and the elephant cave temple down the cliff the view could not be more beautiful. Pool is perfect, great size and very clean.

We stayed in villa no 1. A villa with very spacious lounge area outside to relax with again a great view overlooking the jungle. Inside there is a big twin bed with mosquito net and a bathroom with shower (partly open air.) There are lot's of gekko's in the room. But they'll catch the bugs for you so no worries about that.

Ubud dedari villa's has a great manager, he will do anything for you. When we had to leave for an other destination he took us to the mainland and showed us such beautiful village's and rice fields.

The hotel is 10 min drive away from Ubud. Rent a scooter at the reception and explore the mainland and little villages.

From the moment we arrived at Ubud Dedari for a 5 night stay, we were not disappointed. Although a good 10 min drive from centre of Ubud, you are well compensated for the drive by the peace and beauty of the location of this small villa complex. The staff are very friendly and attentive, polite and accommodating to your every request. Unfortunately I injured my left knee 4 days before coming to Bali and required crutches to assist walking. Due to this unforeseen event, it was very difficult for me to climb the stairs to villa 3, our first villa. The next day we were moved to villa 1 which is closer to the reception, has a very large verandah and has less steps. We were unsure if this was still going to work so the manager took us to 3 other hotels in Ubud so we could see if they would be more suitable with less steps. How amazing is that? A manager of the hotel you are staying in helping you find somewhere else to stay??!! Anyway, nothing was as nice as Ubud Dedari so we decided to stay and I just had to deal with the steps and crutches!!
We preferred Villa 3 to villa 1 as far as the room went but because of my knee, villa 1 was definitely the most suitable. A bonus was we had good wifi connection from villa 1 but had to go to the reception area when we were in villa 3.
Anyway, the pool with its amazing views was fantastic! The breakfast was more than enough to get you going for the day. The evening meals, if you choose to eat there, are very nice and very reasonably priced. A car and driver into town was always available when you needed one. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The aircon wasn't working so well in villa 1 and they sent someone out to fix it with in couple of hours.
From my experience I would highly recommend staying at Ubud Dedari. In fact, I look forward to coming back...without crutches!!

Room Tip: Villa 1 has very large verandah and better wifi connection, villa 2-5 directly overlook pool, villa...
