While it was quite tasty, not all the dishes were very memorable. In fact the only thing that stuck was the dessert, a crepe or pancake with cream, coconut and a sticky honey or sugary drizzle.

Quiet location. Small, select menu but delicious food freshly cooked. Friendly service. Cheap. Well worth a visit.

A very over-rated place - the Wok offers a very limited menu and the curry I tried was incredibly average. There are many better places to eat in Ubud (try the Warung Pulau Kelapa for starters). The staff are on cue with their smiling performance here, but sadly we felt hurried from our table during a busy lunch time service - we had not been there very long and did not want dessert but felt harassed enough to feel the need to leave before we were ready.

The Melting Wok is situated in a quieter street of Ubud centre which is quite nice as you don’t have the constant noise and smell of the traffic (very busy in Ubud). It’s a small and simple warung (name for restaurants over there, the equivalent to pubs in England) but very well decorated and as soon as you arrive you are greeted by great staff, smiling and extremely friendly. But more importantly whilst they do not pretend to make very fancy cuisine, the food is very tasty and very very fresh. I actually said that to the owner who explained to me that they had a very small kitchen and couldn't keep stock of food so they buy everything fresh from the market every morning. The prices are very reasonable and already include taxes (count about £2 for a glass of local rosé wine and £3 to £4 for a main dish). The owner goes around the tables and makes sure she chats to everybody. She is very friendly and we loved the fact that she gives her employees good working conditions for Bali like paid holiday which does not normally happen over there. All in all it was a great experience and we recommend you to try it.

One word : Homey... oh okay another word : Delicious !!
Mrs Geraldine (the Owner) was soo friendly and attentive to customer... well we pop in no reservation... but she got us a table in no time. The waiter was knowledgable on the menus (read from a chalkboard)... so i have a curry with rice and pork, it was.... delicious... and different... not quite fitting with my tongue... since it used some fragant herbs... but it was delicious... taste-wise it has that complex and exquisite taste... felt like an adventure in my mouth.
My wife order the special that day, basil chicken with flat noodle... it was delicious... and more fitting with our tongue...
and their pickle... owh.... it's soo good... (so spicy too be careful), it add up a whole new flavour to the dishes...
