“A highly recommended boutique resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2011

If you love nature, appreciate excellent service, and are interested to enrichen your stay with "zen" activities, Puri Sunia is the place to spend your holidays!
This hotel is brandnew and has a big and beautiful swimmingpool lined with balinese fountains. It's built in balinese style and surrounded by high trees and rice fields.
The restaurant with its fine food and excellent service stands a comparison with the top ranking restaurants of Ubud.
The staff is extremely friendly. One morning, I had a hoarse voice. The waiter asked me if I needed some medicine, and he spontaneously replaced my glass with ice cold water by a glass of warmer water. This is the kind of attention that makes this place very special.
Besides the friendliness of the staff, we particularly appreciated the gorgeous breakfast, the healthy drinks, the complimentary activities like yoga, rice field trekking and meditation.
I warmly recommend this resort for a quiet and healthy five star holiday in Ubud!

My wife and I stayed at Puri Sunia Resort for the final three nights of our honeymoon in Bali. We considered a number of villas in Ubud before settling on this one, mostly because of price and cleanliness, and I can confidently way that we made the right choice. The staff was amazingly friendly, the food at the restaurant was incredible (especially the included breakfast!), and the rooms were nice and very clean. Puri Sunia is located in a quiet area about 10 minutes away from the business of downtown Ubud, but the hotel shuttle was extremely convenient and willing to work around our needs. Simply put, we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Our only complaint (and we're really stretching to find one) is that the size of the pool in our pool villa was smaller than we imagined. I don't know how it is at other pool villa resorts, but we preferred the shared resort swimming pool to the one in our villa.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay. We were a little hesitant to choose Puri Sunia at first because it is a new resort and there aren't yet many reviews available online, but we would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of peace and relaxation in Ubud. Personally, we can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Pool Villa was great, but the cheaper options seem just as comfortable, if only a bit smaller.

We booked a Deluxe Room which is the cheapest option but just gorgeous - exactly like the photos and very clean. Lovely indoor bathroom, good aircon, LCD TV and the only difference i can see to the more expensive Suite Rooms is that they are upstairs and have the high thatched roof ceilings - ours is flat and has woven matting on the ceiling. We are pretty fussy and stay at some pretty luxe places but try not to pay over the top prices and this resort fits the bill beautifully. I guess that because it is new and out of the main tourist area it is better value but It only took us 13mins in the free shuttle from Ubud central which runs hourly all day until 10pm. We had dinner in the resort restaurant the first night as we got in late and it is a very nice setting looking over the pool and the rice paddies but relatively expensive like most resort restaurants and doesn't have happy hour cocktails (which are a must for me!). Our breakfast in the restaurant was included in our room charge (which i highly recommend) and was lovely. We could choose from a Continental, American or Indonesian breakfast and included fresh juice and tea/coffee. We also used the free shuttle to go out to dinner in Ubud on which has so many great choices and it was very convenient. There are no other restaurant choices close enough to walk that i can see but the shuttle makes that no big deal.

My sister and I stayed at this newly opened resort for 7 nights in August 2011 and we found the place absolutely amazing. It is located just a 10minute drive from central Ubud (the resort offers free shuttle bus to central Ubud every 2 hours), surrounded by amazing greenery of rice paddies and palm trees. We also recommend to walk to central Ubud as this is the great chance to take pictures and to absorb authentic local life. The resort helps you to fill your days by offering great complimentary activities (rice paddies trekking, yoga lessons - we absolutely recommend as there is nothing like this morning yoga session in an open area with the best yoga teacher - just be prepared it starts at 7 am but it is totally worth it! You can also join a class of handmade floral offering and the resort serves afternoon high tea with local cakes every day!). You are highly recommended to hire a car with a driver (the resort also arranges that for you which we found quite late and they have these amazing tips for trips all over Bali) to explore the island. The food is absolutely amazing and so is all the stuff at the restaurant and in the whole resort - very friendly, kind, extremely helpful and ready to assist you with whatever you may need. Everything in the resort is done with enormous attention to detail to provide all its guests with unforgettable experience! We just loved it and we would recommend it to all our friends!

Room Tip: we stayed in a suite on a first floor and the room was just perfect - spacious, very light and sunny...

We really enjoyed this place, which has just opened in August and is brand new. Staff is helpful and very kind. The hotel is very nicely decorated. It is located in a quiet plaçe, 10 min drive from Ubud, surronded by rice paddies ( you have a free shuttle service to go to Ubud). It is very calm and completely relaxing ! Breakfasts are good. Yoga courses in the morning are wonderful, with a very nice teacher. Definitely a good plaçe to stay in.

We were lucky to find this hotel through an online reservation page. It is brand new with opening in August 2011. We stayed one night for reasons of budget, and without doubt the best hotel we've been all over the world.

Negatives:
It is ten minutes drive from central Ubud, so you have to rely on free taxi service offered by the hotel.

Positives. (everything else)
- Brand new, beautiful, Balinese style, with great detail and surrounded by rice fields, peace and tranquility.
- Staff professional and very friendly, always trying to make you feel at home.
- Restaurant and room service spectacular. Not too expensive for the hotel category.
- We stayed in a villa with private pool and seemed to paradise. Drinks from the minibar in village free.
-The villa was huge, brand new, with a beautiful bed topped with a mosquito net, wooden floors, light colors, safe, plasma TV, private outdoor gazebo by the pool, outdoor bathroom with a bath type pellets filled with huge rose petals ... A dream come true.
- They have free yoga classes in the morning, and complimentary tea and cake in the afternoon.
- Credit card with no extra charge.
- Checkin and checkout efficient and professional. We were picked up and left us in the center of Ubud free ride.
- They help you arrange excursions around the area at reasonable prices.

Conclusions.
As I said before the best hotel we've been all over the world with an excellent value for money and customer service team.
If my budget would allow me, I'd be a whole week in one of his villas with private pool. The same hotel in Europe or America would be cost easily 5 times more.
Excellent choice, romantic stay and looking forward to returning.
