“Short Retreat in Y Resort”
Reviewed October 30, 2011

Me, my husband and my 4 months daughter was really enjoying our short stay in this Resort.
If you looking for modern minimalist resort with the Ubud touch, this resort definitely the one. Not a luxury resort but you will find the genuine of the staffs, that will taking care of you and your family.
The room, is spacious - considering is only me, my husband and my baby and the style is so updated. The bathroom is nice with the bath tub and shower. and the amenities is quiet complete, and they provide the hair dryer as well.
The infinity pool is gorgeous, and we had a good time there.
The Restaurant, in term of the quality of the food i will say average, but the restaurant just stunning since they had the set up in the garden.
Definitely i will back for a longer stay to this resort :)

P.S:
a room directory to be set - up in the room will be a good for the guest.
with a room service & spa menu, will help your resort to upsell the products.

I cant believe how many bad reviews this place has had, we just spent 10 days there and would have to say that overall it was great!!
True it is not an 'authentic Bali experience', it is a reasonably priced resort, so yes the rooms are on the small side, and they are decorated in a more Western style than other places in Bali. That said we felt the room was plenty big enough, the facilities were great- big comfy bed, wifi (best to use during the morning, it is a tad slow at night... but it is free after all.) There are flat screen tv's with 22 channels, no dvd player in rooms, but there is a movie channel, or the option of using the player in the lounge (which also has a computer and printer which are free to use) There is a mini fridge, tea and coffee facilities, and the bathrooms are really nice (we chose a bath, which was HUGE) Not sure what the smell was that others are complaining of, I actually thought the bathrooms were really clean and smelt fine.
Our room was located by the road and we didn't have any problems with traffic noise, even though we were there over the weekend, and also when a party was being held at a nearby resort.
The pool at the resort is really nice and spotlessly clean, with lounge chairs on the desk beside.
The restaurant was clean, and offered a good breakfast between 7.30 and 11. The options were tea, coffee, two types of juice, toast, two types of cereal, bacon, eggs, ham, sausage, nasi goreng, fresh fruits, cooked bananas, a small range of pastries, and then daily specials like cake, coconut bananas etc. For us that was plenty of choice, especially given that it is included in the price. For lunch and dinner the restaurant was a bit pricey, however there are 3 restaurants within 50m of the resort, all of which offer good fare.
We found most of the staff spoke reasonably good English, and all were very friendly and obliging.
Y Resort is a 15 minute walk to Ubud, with rice fields and little shops along the way. You also cross a beautiful gorge with a river at the bottom, which is beautiful. It is down hill going into town, so walking home is a bit strenuous but we walked most times. The road is quite narrow and I would recommend having a torch at night. Otherwise there is a free shuttle every two hours, or at your request for 10000Rp per person. The standard drop off/pick up is the temple, however you can request to be dropped anywhere in Ubud (or further afield at a higher fee) The pick up can be a little hit and miss, they forgot us twice, but if you walk across to the tourist info (just across from the temple) you can call the resort for free.
If you are looking for a reasonably priced base to explore Ubud then I would recommend Y Resort with no hesitation.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bath- same price but a larger room!

Had a wonderful stay in this hotel. Although this hotel is far away from Ubud town but there is a free shuttle every 2 hours but remember to book the return trip before you leave the hotel. Rooms are not big in bali standard but very well equiped with flat screen TV and free wifi. I like the modern bright design of the room and not like the usual balinese style with lots of wood and little light. Bathroom are great with rain shower and clean look. As most hotel in ubud is located near ricefield, there are definately some small insects and mosquito in the area but as long as you keep the bathroom doors (there is ventilation windows above) and main doors closed that should not be a problem. Swimming pool is well designed and clean just at your doorstep. Quiet environment and away busy ubud town traffic. Only bad points about this hotel is the morning breakfast which has little choice. Overall definately will come back again.

Lousy expensive new place. Not worth it. The place is about 25-30 min walk from an isolated location on a hill in Penestanan district/village into Ubud center. Yes, they have a free shuttle, but it is not reliable....it didn't show up a few times as scheduled.

Bathrooms had a foul smell. Staff are ok, but lack passion or efficiency....a whole bunch of them (3-4) gather around an event/issue...making the guest feel very uncomfortable. Suggestion: Separate the staff into different tasks: 1 for check-in, one for guest services, baggage, etc.

This brand new hotel is a perfect example of what is killing Ubud...The owner has an obvious goal to park as many tourists in as little space as possible and make as much money possible... The rooms overlooking the very busy road are simply so noisy that it will make you think you are sleeping on a motorway of the ouskirts of a busy metropole and surely not on holiday in the charming peaceful Ubud.. Everything in the hotel is cheap disguised in fake fancy... the hotel amenities have this chemical disgusting strawberry smell hidden in a fancy nice bottle but it does not fool anyone... same with the fruit juices at beakfast obviously bought in a cheap supermarket but put in nice jars... The building work had just been completed but you could already see damp humidity stains in the stuffy bathroom...the walls are so thin that even if you are lucky enough to be in the quieter part of the hotel away from the road, you will have the immense joy of hearing your neighbours talk, pee, caugh, watch tv or do anything else you can do in a room... This is a badly run project, quickly put together to get the dollars flowing, badly built, badly put together.. stay away from this place
