Description: Karsa Cafe/Kafe is a simple and lovely open air cafe ideally situated overlooking the rice fields. A perfect place to have a drink or food after the glorious walk along the famous Campuhan Ridge heading north from Ubud. This is one of the most beautiful walks in all of Bali. We sell simple but delicious Indonesian favourites and healthy, fresh juices. We have recently opened Karsa Spa nearby with Reiki, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue therapeutic and healing bodywork and organic spa treatments. Leave the hustle and bustle of Ubud for a day! Come and spend healthy time walking the ridge then relaxing at our cafe and spa. Our sunsets are amazing too!

We walked the ridge and came up to this place after passing a lot of artists' gallery. This cafe overlooks a very beautiful terraced Paddy field and it was very tranquil here. The Watermelon juice and Papaya smoothie was truly refreshing and we came back to have it the second day. This place can also be reached by driving along Jalan Campuhan.

A short 20-30 minute walk out of Ubud is definitely worth it to sit and have a cold drink looking out over the rice fields. The cafe has a really good range of drinks, including fresh coconut. The service is quick and friendly.

They have created some nice places to sit and where you can have a drink after walking the ridge. Food is soso but it really is a lovely place.

The Campuan Ridge walk and the Kafe Karsa go together like eggs and bacon. They complement each other so well. The walk builds the thirst and the appetite, the cafe fulfils those needs - admirably! We have spent many mornings walking and afternoons eating and drinking - so much so that they've organised return transport to Ubud! Unfortunately the opening in 2013 of the new 43 roomed hotel plus chalets and spas nearby is likely to spell the end for Kafe Kursa, if not for the whole Campuan Ridge walk. So, make the most of it. Walk the walk, relax at the café and as the cement mixer trucks go by billowing clouds of dust and diesel fumes think about what gets lost in the all-out quest for the tourist dollar…

Given the heat, the price of potable water is important and a useful indicator of how much the restaurant/café is prepared to exploit its clientele. A 1.5 litre bottle of Aqua costs Rp. 4,500 from the local supermarket and below are some of the prices we were charged at different eateries:

Bali Buddha – first glass is free (if you ask), second glass is Rp. 2,000
Circle K Supermarket - Price: Rp. 4,500 per 1.5 litre bottle
Karsa Kafe – Price: Rp. 10,000 per 1.5 litre bottle
Warung Laba-Laba – Price: Rp. 11,000 per 1.5 litre bottle
Sari Organic – for eco-reasons water sold by the glass only (and the glass is small!) Price: Rp. 8,000 per glass
Savannah Moon –Price: Rp. 8,000 per 1.5 litre bottle
Three Monkeys - Price: Rp. 25,000 per 0.75 litre bottle
Wayan Café - Price: Rp. 11,000 per 1.5 litre bottle

We visit Karsa Cafe often when staying near Ubud as we enjoy the Campuan ridge walk so much. Karsa offers sensational views across rice paddies toward the mountains. The owners have recently added 3 new raised thatched bale's surrounded by water, which are fantastic for small groups to relax, share some food and enjoy a drink while watching the sun set. The food is basic Indonesian/Balinese, but good and very well priced. The staff are charming and gracious hosts. Karsa also has three Villas at this location for rent, also very good value at around $30 a night.
