Checked-in Saturday, 20th Jan 2018 1330hrs
Family of 6 adults & 2 children (2-yr & 4-yr old)
The way to this villa is by walking. The transport can only stop slightly inwards the main road. The rest 50m or so, please lug your luggage along. I'm sure you'll get assistance there. We were greeted by Indra, the Butler.
There are local cafes, restaurant, provision shops, spa, laundry & a taxi counter at the first stretch walking in. The final stretch is an alleyway. True to the Balinese environment, it felt strangely unique and chilly.
Once inside, your knees get weak. The villa greets you with such a welcoming view & the promise of a good stay. The lounge area is just awesome, a place for good bonding sessions. It joins the kitchen looking out to the pool. Big small colorful Balinese cushions line the couches & sofas. You just need to laze.
Kitchen utensils, cups & plates are sufficient. Where worn fittings are concerned, they still worked. The fridge is in good working condition. Buy whatever you need for your stay & store them. You can cook a storm or do that BBQ by the pool (you’ll need to rent the pit though). They also have a dispenser for drinking water. Dining table sits everyone comfortably. TV channels are plenty, you won't get bored.
Villa is beautiful with good use of space. Heliconia plants curtain the wall opposite the lounge & pool. That far wall has a Balinese hut with a day-bed & cushions. Good place to laze again. Swimming pool is not for kids, use safety floaters if you have kids swimming. The villa provides big towels for pool use. 3 sun deck chairs beside the pool, to laze again!
Minus point here: There are dog's poo on the lawn & around the villa. Not good if you step on one.
Rooms are spacious with separate closet and bathroom. The water heater needs time to adjust the heat, so give it some time. The bathroom has got this portrait size clear glass panel beside the WC. It provides natural light but can be seen from outside. The view is still within the villa’s compound, just behind the building. Even though it’s private, it gives you some kind of fear that someone might be watching. The safe-box, iron & board can be found within the closet area.
Breakfast was simple & tasty. Omelet, bread, jam, fresh mixed fruit & homemade coffee without milk or sugar. All these were prepared in the kitchen by Indra & served to the time we requested. We sat at 9am all prepared on the breakfast table (*such splendid service by Indra). I would definitely promote this guy. Very knowledgeable, accommodating & totally helpful. I couldn’t ask for a better butler.
Many more F&B outlets can be found just outside that alley. Have a walk around & ask what time they close.
The villa has two mosquito coil holders u can use. Buy the coils, burn & place them inside the holder. You can carry them around. They have two LED torchlights to use in case of blackout. No cases during my stay though.
Rent a bike if you can ride one. These metal horses are the fastest way to get around Ubud. For those long journeys with families, do hire a van with a driver. Consider traffic & weather in your schedule, they extend your travelling time.
Lastly, I will recommend this place to anyone who wants a flawless stay. Past reviews will guarantee you a pleasant stay.
Thank You Heliconia Villas for making our stay a splendid one.
This villa was great! We stayed 4 nights. Our pool boy was lovely and cooked us delicious breakfast wlevery morning. The villas are well equipped and so beautifully decorated. The yard was gorgeously well kept. The spa eve located across the road from our villa and ran by the same people was amazing, we really enjoyed the massages. Would give this place a 10/10
Lovely spot. Better than pics. Our second visit and we will be back. Really nice people and v responsive to requests for extra moxie coils etc.
This is the second time we have stayed at Villas managed by Steve. As always very easy and stress free. Easy pick up from airport and dropped into carrefour to pick up supplies on the way to the villa. Well thought out villas with things like adapter plugs, water dispensar etc all taken care of. Location very easy for a stroll in the paddies or a nice coffee or juice. Easy to get food delivered to the villa in the evening which is great if you have tired young kids. Indra made a nice breakfast every morning and could arrange for masages etc if you wanted. Nice sized pool with pretty garden with total privacy. If you want an easy chilled break this is the place.
I stayed there with my husband and our family on 8th - 11th May 2017. We arrived in Bali at 9pm and picked up by the Villa's driver, Bli Kadek at Ngurah Rai Airport and he was so talkative and friendly, thanks Bli!
When we arrived in the Heliconia Villa, it was a really stunning ambiance we got as a welcomed. The Villa was really clean and well maintained, the room decoration was nice, the chilling bench was comfy and the pool was stunning! The housekeeper, Bli Indra cooked us breakfast, it was simple but soooo good. He cooked us omelettes with wheat bread and also a bowl of fruits! Yummy.
Then we rented 4 motorbikes by Bli Indra, it was only IDR 50.000/Bike/Day.
I'd love to recommend this Luxury Villa to people who wants to stay in Ubud with Family. You won't regret what you have paid, it's all worth.
Thanks Bli Indra!
The location was great, walking distance to massages and restaurants, Taxis/ drivers also close by. I had a wonderful relaxing holiday with three sisters and my partner. We where looked after very well by our breakfast cook Made Indra, who arranged both in-house massages and a driver, who was exceptional.
I stayed in Villa Helicona with my two sons (15 and 11) and my sister and her 15yr old son and the villa was everything I wanted and more. Very clean and set out very well for our situation. It is in a great location and a ten minute walk to the centre of Ubud. The road is a little crazy at times to walk but taxis are available everywhere anyway.
Pool was wonderful and the grounds are very well looked after. Indra made us breakfast every morning and made the beds. Villa was very quiet and well maintained and everything we needed for our ten day stay. Would be back in a heartbeat.
Only one downside and that was the tiles around the pool were incredibly slippery when wet so if you had younger kids who run when wet it could be really dangerous.
