An extremely clean and well run small complex consisting of about 6 villas in a secluded spot with views of paddy fields.
The staff are the most helpful I encountered.
Met the owners who were equally as charming and pleasant.
Excellent breakfast freshly prepared.
Great coffee!! Fresh juices and cocktails.
Coconuts fresh from the tree available on your walk into town which is a pleasant 10 minute slow walk through a quite road.
Great value and will be back!!!

I chose the Samara based on the reviews in TripAdvisor and it lived up to my expectation and more! The location, though a little secluded, is wonderful for a retreat and the views and surrounding landscape are just BEAUTIFUL! There are only 6 identical villas, a restaurant and a pool.. amenities are minimal but everything done in good taste. What's most endearing is the personalised service. The owners Stefano and Yudi make you feel more than welcome and would go extra mile to help. The room is of a nice size and new, with nice furniture. There's a semi outdoor shower though I wish there's also a bath! Having breakfast looking into the paddy fields just refreshes your day. It's a stone throw away from the best walks into the paddy fields.. where nature abounds! However, if one has mobility problem, this hotel would not be suitable as it is away from the main road so only reachable by foot or scooter. But for those with a sense of adventure and want a serene vacation, the Samara is THE perfect home away from home..a touch of luxury amidst nature.

Room Tip: Villa no. 6 has the best unobstructed view and also most privacy.

My wife and I stayed 5 days in one of the Samaya villa's amidst the rice fields and palm trees. The best place ever ! A few hundred meters away from the busy center of Ubud you reach paradise ... Beautiful room in a marvellous setting and great hospitality. Ideal for a combination of nature walks, city shopping, eating, and cultural performances in Ubud.
I really really really really ... really can recommend this place to everybody !
But like I mentioned: it takes some effort to get there.
(TIP: If you go there by taxi, you can tell the taxi driver that he can drive to the end of the narrow road. At the end there is still a possibility to turn the car around. The last past you have to do on foot, or you can call the hotel, and they will send a few guys with a motorcycle to pick up your luggage and yourself, if you like.)

Recently stayed at The Samara, and were very sad to leave. We had the very best time ever in 15 times of coming to Bali. It was our 3rd wedding Anniversary cellebration. When we came to our room, there were petals spelling it out, and petals everywhere in the room. The next day, on our anniversary, a huge flower arrangement was delivered and we were treated to dinner. Where would you be spoilt like this? You couldnt wipe the smile off my face for days. We have stayed in Ubud many times over the years. Monkey Forrest Road is becoming very busy, so it was nice to find somewhere away from it. I still like the frenitcness and busyness of Ubud, but it was nice to have a choice to be part of it or not! The Samara is set amongst the rice terraces, with no beeping traffic. You are met 400metres away, and transfered by there own motorbikes to the villas. YOu feel like you have stepped into paradise, gazing over the reception, restaurant and pool area hugged by rice fields. The hosts Udi and Stefano are amazing, and have succeeded in making The Samara the success it is in only One year! The food at their restaurant is delicious...a must try is the Tirimasu! You will guage any other by this from then on!! I cant reccommend The Samar enough. We will be back time and again.

We more than enjoyed our stay at the Samara. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. It felt really like home. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Everything you need is there. The restaurant is located at a wonderfull spot overlooking the rice fields and is serving delicious meals from breakfast in the morning to full Indonesian or Italian dinners in the evening. We also reserved some day-trips with the private driver of the Samara, Rai, who showed us some very interesting places on Bali. He spoke English very well and was informative and caring. We can recommend a stay at this hotel for anyone who loves to enjoy Bali both in an active and relaxing way.

A small resort only with 6 rooms, and managed by a small team of multi-talented/tasking crew. They cook and serve breakfast, do airport transfers, pick you up on a scooter, house-keeping, surprised with birthday cake and flowers. Very sincere and heart felt services.

The rooms are clean lined with modern design, very well maintained. Even the glass doors and windows are clean everyday. Can see that every corner of the property is impeccably maintained.

There is a tiny kitchen, but they serve up the breakfast without any fuss, was very efficient. And surprising they also make very good standard Italian, tried the simple aglio olio, which is the gauge for italian pasta dish, it was make to perfection.

The property is build on the padi field, and is without and fence, hence you can almost lounge at the pool, stretch your arm and touch the padi crop.

Makes it hard to leave.

Loved our stay at the Samara. The villas were beautiful and the setting was breathtaking. Wished we could have stayed there longer! The location is quite secluded but still very close to Ubud. Unfortunately cars cannot take to you right up to the property, you have to take a motorbike or walk the last 500m so I wouldn't recommend the place for older folks or those with mobility issues. This was also a bit frustrating when we organized pickups for tours or restaurants as the parking lot was difficult to find and drivers were often late. Without a phone at the parking lot you didn't really have option but to hope there was someone on the way or walk back to the Samara to get them to make a phone call... The only other negative worth mentioning is the poor wifi service, but that being said I don't think this issue is limited to these villas, it seemed internet access across Bali is very slow, so do all your trip advisor research prior to arriving! :)
