Away from the busy towns and roads, this was an exhilarating way to explore the verdant countryside and terraced rice paddies near Ubud and experience a wonderful lunch in a traditional family compound under the knowledgeable guidance of Dewa Bob (www.balionbike.com).

Was really happy we chose to do this tour. Got to see so much of Ubud and the surrounding countryside. Our guide... who's name I have forgotten (I'm terrible with names!), was a charming guy and very knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour and the Balinese way of life. First stop was the coffee plantation, had the some of best helpings of coffee & tea I've ever had here, including the famous 'Kopi Luwak'. Then onto the bikes. Was a completely effortless bike ride as you start on the shores of Lake Batur and carry on downhill at a gentle pace, stopping at enchanting villages to talk to friendly locals, and all the while, taking in the lush Bali countryside.
