We went on a mountain bike ride whilst in Bali recently. I was not too keen at the idea as I am not a cyclist, fit and don't cope with heat very well. We were collected from our villa and taken to a coffee plantation which was amazing. Got to taste many different teas and coffee, including the famous Luwak coffee. This plantation was put together by 7 families and was a pleasure to visit. We could also buy their products there and had no trouble bringing them back into Aus. Then we were taken to a restaurant overlooking Lake Batur and volcano. Breakfast was made up of fresh fruit and fried bananas. yummy. The temperature was a lot cooler as we were at a higher altitude. We started our bike ride after being fitted out with right size bike and helmet. It was nearly ALL downhill and I did not have to even pedal for the first few kms. We rode through villages, learning the history and customs from our great guide. There were only 6 in our group which was great. We rode through rice paddies, watching the locals process the product as we passed. We stopped and were able to take pics whenever we wanted. All up we rode 36.8 kms and only encountered two hills that challenged. The company air conditioned van was following us and we could take a break from riding if we needed (no one did, even me!) We finished up at a restaurant and were greeted with cold towels and a lovely lunch situated on the edge of a rice field. The entire day was amazing and I would strongly recommend this outing to everyone. It is not hard and even someone like me that does not do well with exercise will enjoy. It was probably the best $50 I spent in Bali. We left at 7.30 am and were returned to our villa around 4.30. The only regret is that I cannot remember the name of the company we rode with but I am sure that they all provide a similar experience. We did pass/see some other tours doing just like us. Great day

What a lovely day this was with the bike tour of Bali On Bike. We did the tour with our daughters of 16 and 13. You are driven to the top of the vulcano from where you bike down between the rice fields. Beautiful. But first the day starts with a visit to the coffee plantation where you have breakfast and a coffee and tea tasting, ao the famous luwak coffee. Further on, Bob buys fruit for everyone to taste.
When you finally go biking, Bobs tells a lot about the island and the habits. Gives you plenty of opportunity for pictures. The end of the tour is spectaculair when Bob invites you to his home for a lunch, prepared by his wife, restaurant quality! It really was the best day of our holiday on Bali. Only one disadvantage: that was the first day of our holiday ;-) ! Bob, thank you for a warm welkome. Kind regards from Edwin, Marianne, Anne & Linde.

Our small group thoroughly enjoyed the ride, as well as the coffee/tea sampling, lunch and various other stops on the way. We saw several other large groups doing similar tours but I was glad to be with Bali on Bike. You might be a little saddle sore at the end of the day (maybe some gel seat covers might help with this), but it's worth it. Very photogenic scenery - recommended!

This was one of the best days so far we have had in Ubud. We were picked up promptly at our hotel at 8 am, and turned out it is their slow season so we were the only people on the tour, which was great because more one on one time! We were taken to the coffee plantation, where we tried all different types of yummy coffee and teas including the famous kopi luwak coffee, we ended up buying a ton for gifts etc for home. Then we stopped off at a viewpoint of the volcano, and then we rode. It was mostly level ground or downhill, only one uphill, which most people probably wouldn't have trouble getting up, but because of my asthma I had to get off and walk the bike up. The tour guide was amazing, so knowledgeable, he had an answer for everything, spoke English really well, and they had snacks and water for us. The lunch was hands down the best Indonesian food we have had so far. We couldn't recommend this trip even more, the ride was beautiful, going past the rice paddies, stopping off at places to try some oranges, etc. If you are in Ubud and like to bike ride, you MUST go on this trip.

this was a great day out, went to the coffee plantations and then for breakfast over looking the volcano...great view!! then went and collected our bikes and began our downhill ride through the many villages and rice paddocks. Guides were very informative and patient, great lunch at the end of the day.
Maybe provide more water, one bottle wasn't enough in the heat.
