This was "by far" one of the best experiences we have had on holiday! Although it may look intimidating, it is actually not difficult and is something we recommend everyone should do! You start at the base of a mountain and bike through villages and end up having lunch at the owner's house. We were very lucky as we went on an odd day, so it was just the two of us and our guide. Honestly, if you do one thing in Bali (other than eat) we would recommend you do BOB.

I looked up trip advisor before arriving in Bali to get some reviews on bike rides. I started reading about bob dewa's business and I didn't have to look at other companies as his ratings and all the comments were exceptional....our day out was nothing short of exceptional also.
We had fabulous email communication pro to the ride and the transport was waiting for us at e promised time. We ate breakfast before our early pick up at 7 which I'd recommend as the day is long.
We bustled through the traffic out of legian and up towards the mountains to collect out used Moon for the day. He was very happy and informative. We drove to our first destination of a coffee plantation to see the process for making the famous lewak coffee (coffee beans eaten by the lewak then pooed out then cleansed!!)) The plantation was so peaceful and picturesque...we were offered yummy pancakes and tried all the teas and coffees the plantation had on offer. Here you could purchase any items as well.
We drive further up the mountains to the top of the volcano and past that largest volcano on the way..we had perfect weather and no cloud so it's was an incredible sight. Much larger than you'd imagine.
Our bikes were waiting. All in great condition and helmets supplied. And off we set and our 30km downhill ride....through gorgeous villages, past mandarin orchards, jungle greenery, last temples, and rice fields. All the way we could stop for photos or a drink or just a chat. Moon had some great information and could answer anything we asked.
The children in the villages were thrilled to see us ride through and came to greet us with smiles and hellos and high fives!! We also stopped in a traditional compound to meet a family and see how they live. Again Moon explained the family dynamics in this compound and who would live here. Family is very important and vey close in Bali.
Our ride ended at Bob Dewas house which is a beautiful compound. His wife had prepared and feast for lunch which was one of the best meals we have had in bali. Cold drinks including beers and soft drinks were offered readily. Moon sat with us for lunch and we chatted about everything for over an hour. He truly is the right person for the job, as so sociable and funny!! We especially enjoyed learning about all the values, traditions and philosophies of Bali people...wish the whole world could live like that and we would all be so peaceful.
The bike riding itself was very easy...mostly downhill and the uphills were short and manageable to most people I'd imagine. The roads were good and if at all rough then Moon alerted us. Our driver followed us down the hill and would wait at intersections to ensure we safely crossed. My husband is a lee road cyclist at home and so I think he would have preferred some uphill which Moon suggested is possible with enough notice to the company.
Overall this day out was perfect and a lovely way to see th mountains, volcanos, coffee plantations, areas around ubud, the rice fields and Bali villages....special thanks to Moon as he made the day so enjoyable.

Fantastic tour. Took most of the day and we saw lots of different things through out. The meal put on at the end was incredible and we will be back to do it again for sure.

Bali on bike was the absolute best tour we have ever done!
Moon our tour guide was so informative , friendly and funny ,a really great bloke.
We loved the gentle downhill ride through villages where the local children all came running to us to say hello and give us high fives as we rode past . Saw mandarin harvesting , temples , volcano , coffee plantation, and rice fields.
Was great how Moon allowed us to stir the roasted coffee beans and separate the rice the old traditional way.
Best part was going to a traditional Balinese house and meeting the family and see how they live .
Bobs wife makes an awesome indonesian lunch at the end of the ride .
Best value for money tour you will find anywhere in Bali.
If you visit Bali you absolutely have to do this tour.

We were picked up by Moon (our friendly guide for the day) and taken by a comfortable air-con mini van from our hotel in Nusa Dua direct to the coffee plantation in Ubud. Short walk throught the plantation where we were shown the many herbs, spices and fruit growing as well as the famous Luwak. We sat overlooking the ricefields and plantations and tasted beautiful coffees and tea while having a light breakfast of crepes (if you are a big breakfast eater make sure you have breakfast before you leave the hotel or take something extra with you).
From there to the mountain for photos and then started our bike tour.
The tour is all down hill, hardly any peddling at all through villages and beautiful rice paddy fields. The roads were quiet, (apart from a small section when Moon and his assistants directed us through a couple of intersections) we always felt very safe while riding on the side of the road.
Lunch was at Bob's house/family compound, cooked by his wife. Delicious indonesian food - included yummy satays and if you're vegetarian there were plenty of great vege dishes too. Beer and sodas were included in the tour price which went down well with our group after a hot day riding in the sun.
This tour is great for anyone wanting to see a bit of Bali - Ubud area and villages especially if it's your first time to Bali. On saying that I lived in Bali many years ago and still enjoyed this tour - great value for money, fun, delicious lunch, great guide. I would def. to this tour again!
Thanks to Moon and B.O.B
