the bike ride was a great experience. it started off a bit slow, as the first 30 min or so of the bike ride was through a rural village, but it gave you an idea of what urban life is like outside of the resorts of nusa dua. after the tour, we went to bob's house for lunch and it was without question the best meal we had in bali. the man's wife can cook. seafood in jimbaran is a close second.

After today's experience, I am more than happy to support this starting company by writing this review. in the Netherlands, riding a bike is as common as walking. I do realize however that this is not the case for everybody. Make sure that you are comfortable riding one, also on roads that aren't always that smooth.

If you are, if you want to see the countryside in a total different way than by car or motorbike, I highly recommend BOB. Everything is taken care of with attention for details; water along the way, blocking the road for safe crossing during the trip where necessary and as many stops as you like for taking pictures. Our guide, Bob, enthusiastically provided us with tons of information along the way, sharing historical information and telling about present-day life. Although we were only with 3 participants, we had Bob as our guide (1 guide per 6 participants) and we were followed by 2 cars, one with tools and spare gear and the car that both picked us up and was our transport for the first part of the tour. The tour ended at Bob's family where we were welcomed with an abundant, proper Indonesian meal.

2 thumbs up for BOB!!!

I can't say enough positive things about this experience. It was, hands down, my favorite things that I did in Bali. This business is small (Dewa "Bob" runs it with the help of family and friends), but that just makes it all the more enjoyable. The guides are extremely friendly and extremely knowlegable (our guide could have talked for hours about any single place we visited, so there was never a point on the tour during which I wasn't learning something), and since they are a small, local company, they can really give you a detailed, first-hand account into life in Bali.

One of the great things about this experience is that literally EVERYTHING is taken care of for you by the company. A clean, air-conditioned vehicle picks you up at your hotel at the beginning of the day, and brings you back at the end. A variety of bikes (along with helmets) are provided to you for the biking portion of the trip, and water and bananas are given to you at the beginning of the tour and upon request. At the end of the trip, a very large lunch of authentic Balinese cuisine is provided at Bob's home, cooked by his wife. This was definitely the best food I ate in Bali, no question. His wife is an amazing cook, and the food alone was almost worth the price of the tour. Bob also provides unlimited complimentary beverages during lunch, from water to soda to beer (though he cuts you off at 3 beers, he tells us). Bob even provided a competent babysitter for a young couple that was foolish enough to bring their infant child along on the bike tour, and he seemed happy to do it.

If you come to Bali, especially the Ubud area, you MUST take this trip. You will not regret it. You will learn more than you ever thought there was to learn about the customs and traditions of the island, and since Bob is a local man, you will even meet the true local Balinese people (as in the ones that cut bamboo for $2.50/day and live in community hut compounds) and witness first-hand their customs (we were privileged to see the preparations for a local wedding). And the staff provides the kind old-fashioned total service that hasn't existed (in America, at least) since the days of full-service gas stations. I truly can't recommend this experience enough, and you'll regret it if you visit Bali without taking this tour.

In Bali for the first time. Based on TA reviews, decided to take a day trip with Bali on Bike, BOB. (TA has never steered me wrong!)
We, my wife and I, in Bali on honeymoon, were punctually picked up at our hotel by Sandi, and a driver. Sandi is BOB’s brother, and a guide. (The scheduled group was larger than they prefer, so Sandi had my wife and I, and BOB a New Zealand group of 4.) Sandi was welcoming, energetic, and simply likeable from the moment we met him. Sandi is really passionate about his country, culture and religion. We were taken to a coffee plantation, for plantation education, by Sandi himself, and breakfast, provided by BOB. Sandi showed us native plants, I had never seen a vanilla plant, cinnamon tree, or a luwak, a coffee bean eating sivit!
After breakfast we were taken to the volcano, given the opportunity to stop and take pictures, all before our bicycling started.
We met up with other staff of Bali on Bike, fitted with bikes and helmets, and away we went! Sandi made the trip what it was. He would have us stop, and explain Bali culture. It was educational and informative. We were told how priests are chosen, how the family compound works, how rice fields are farmed, and learned of various Balinese ceremonies.
During the ride, a chase car was with us, in case someone got hurt, tired, or simply lazy. At large intersections the car would beat us there and stop traffic, to be sure the bikers were safe while crossing, or turning.
Ultimately, we ended at Sandi and BOB’s family compound. There the best meal we have had in Bali was served. The food was fresh and authentic. We left full and happy. On our way out the door, to be taken back to our hotel, we asked what time we should be back for dinner!
We have paid more for a far inferior meal . . . but with Bali on Bike we had a great day adventure, saw the non-commercial side of Bali, gained insight in the culture, and had a great time.
Join BOB and Sandi, you will have a memorable day!
After note: Having our share of poor taxi and tour guides for our trip . . . Sandi is also a driver and tour guide. We have him booked a bit in the next few days, but after that, we would highly recommend. He recognizes that by providing great customer service, he will be able to grow his business.

This is our first time in Bali, and I must say that this has been the highlight of our trip, so far. Bob and his excellent driver, Dewa make a great team; they made sure our small group of 4 people had a fun, safe and memorable experience. We enjoyed the breakfast stop at the coffee plantation. The bike tour itself took us through verdant green rice fields, temples and several small villages. It gave us a glimpse of the Balinese culture and local way of life. Bob is an expert in putting everyone at ease. His great humor and friendly gregariousness make him the perfect guide. The bike ride itself was easy and almost all downhill, making it suitable for most people of
of different riding skill levels. At any rate, we felt completely safe under Bob's watchful eye.
Perhaps the best part of the trip was the sumptuous lunch served at Bob's own home. We truly felt welcomed by his family. There is a reason why Bali on Bike earned top ratings in TA...I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ubud.
