We just returned from a week in Bali, four days in Seminyak and three in Ubud, and the HIGHLIGHT by far was our bike tour with Bali on Bike.
This combination sight-seeing, bike tour was good value and we saw sights and learned about Balinese culture we would not otherwise have had an opportunity to do. Our day started with a tour of a spice-coffee plantation and breakfast overlooking a majestic volcano.

The bike ride was a downhill, gentle tour of the countryside around Ubud past rice paddies and through small, rural villages, The route selected was pretty much free of traffic and we stopped at several points along the way while Bob explained the details of rice farming, community customs and traditions and information about the local flora and fauna.
Bob the owner and tour guide is excelent guide. He told us all about village life, the various types and locations of temples, and how local village politics work. He answered all of our questions enthusiastically and knowledgeably. At the end of the trip he takes you to his home, in a village, where his wife prepares the meal.
If you want a great day, that is family friendly, with a wonderful guide .

The tour started for our group of 6 just after breakfast with a car ride up to Mt Batur. Along the way we visited a coffee/spice plantation where we were able to sample come incredible teas and the famous Lumak coffee. We set off coasting downhill all the way with Bob our very cheerful and well informed guide in the lead. Several stops were made along the way to take in the village life and to get some cultural education from our guide. The entire time we were followed by a support car just in case one of us got tired of pedalling...nobody needed it!! The cycling was very easy-it was down hill all the way. The bikes were excellent and we were supplied with helmets and water. The ride took 3hrs but it was so enjoyable the time just flew. At the end of the ride we were treated to the most spectacular lunch in Bob's family compound..it was easily one of the best meals I've had in Bali. It was a highlight of my stay in Ubud and I would definately reccommend Bali on Bikes even for inexperienced riders.

We would definitiely recommend this tour. Dewa Bob filled the day with fascinating details about Balinese life and customs. He stopped whenever we wanted to take photos or look around.

The cycling part of the tour starts from Kintamani village and is pretty much all downhill - very easy. Dewa Bob takes you through all the back roads - only about 5 minutes on a main road. We loved seeing village life and waving to all the children.

A great day and an excellent value tour.

The bike tour was awesome! We were only two and had plenty of time to explore rice terraces, Mount Batur, Ubud's surroundings etc. The guide was really patient, paid attention to our needs (pictures, confort, etc.), and took time to give us explanations about geology, balinese culture and religion. This was a very good experience, and enabled us to discover Bali from another point of view. The bikes and the car were in excellent condition, and the meals (breakfast and lunch) delicious.

I recommend this tour to everyone!!!

While in Bali, we booked a bike ride on the last day, the weather was amazing as it was drizzling and cloudy. We booked the ride via our hotel - melia benoa.

The driver picked us up around 7 in the morning and drove us to the top of the inactive volcano where we had tea and pancakes and then took us to the start point. We shared the van with a couple who were extremely friendly. The bikes were equipped with brakes, cloves, head gear and water. We drove down the slopes waving at residents, stopping for pictures and water breaks. There was one location where we had to pick up our bikes and walk between a steep hill on one side and the river on the other. The hill was lush green (in ubad) with cottages peeking at us and flowers all around. Young couples romancing in the corners of the lushgreen and then we rode through the narrow path. Very scary but looked like a piece from heaven. Wish i had my camera to capture the moment.

A must must do! We were accompanied by the experienced bikers (tour guides) all throughout and we ended up at a local rest for lunch which was part of the package.

All in all, the early morning, the ride through the rain, every bit of it is worth it. I will definitely do this again. Keep a camera around your neck at all times!!
