Citrus Tree Villas - Widia
Ranked #238 of 602 Ubud B&B and Inns

This place is quiet and friendly. Close to central Ubud but down a alley that keeps it quiet. Free wifi and good large clean rooms. Apparently another 8 rooms just finished down by the creek. The family are very friendly and welcoming. Good free breakfast and all day tea or coffee.

Room Tip: There are new rooms down bottom, I be eager to try out. But 3 rooms upstairs where quiet and clean...

Very similar story to the ones below, but just to add to their credibility: We got snatched up by Widia at the Bintang Supermarket after our arrival in Ubud, and he gave us a very good deal on a spacious and clean room for 3. Being 3 people we expected to have to cram together for the price we were looking to pay, but we were pleasantly surprised to discover that was far from the case here. Widia and his family made us feel at home straight away, chatting and treating us very friendly from the very beginning. Because of this lovely attitude staying here also gave us a chance to make some new friends and get a quite special insight into balinese people and their culture, in the very best way.
Otherwise, the whole family that works here do everything they can to accommodate your any need, from organizing tours and helping to get fair prices, lending out their phone or computer for anything important or trivial, ect. Like they did for us. We actually ended up staying a week in Ubud, longer than we had expected, and probably a lot because of Widia and this place. The very best part for us was the lovely family, but the facilities themselves were good too: as mentioned below all rooms have cozy outdoor breakfast porches overlooking a little green river - feeling far outside central Ubud even though it is not at all- big beds, hot water showers and unlimited coffee or tea in the morning. Breakfast options for just 10.000rp consist of jaffles, pancakes or omlettes, all served with a plate of mixed fruit. All rooms have wifi and at least fans, and more features keep being added too. Oh and (important) cold Bintangs are sold here at a very competitive price!
All in all the below mentioned roosters are still around and will probably wake you the first nights of your stay, but just bring some ear plugs and definitely stay at Widia's..!

Same story, Widia met us at the center of the city and we decided to have a look at his place.
It was cheap and clean. The room were slightly bigger than the standard we got used to in Indonesia. We enjoyed the breakfast and the friendliness of the family involved in the business with Widia. The location is fine, by a small river, walkable distance from the center.
Morning wake up by all the roosters of the village but we enjoyed it!

Widia met us at the bus stop when we arrived from Gili Air, via Padangbai and offered us his home stay. Normally we would decline and make our own way to find a place but there was something disarming about his manner that resonated with our intuition and we agreed to go take a look. We are most pleased we did because his personal service not only helped us out big time but it gave us an insight into the beautiful nature of the Bali people. He drove us to a department store to buy a replacement camera, to a tailor to mend a hand bag and picked us up some stationery when he was out and about. The bungalow that we had was perfect for us -even had a patio area with goldfish ponds where we could sit out in the am and pm to play cards etc. Breakfast was included and Widia put a flask of hot water on our table early every morning along with a jar of coffee and tea bags so that we could have as many cuos as we needed at no extra charge. He arranged a driver to take us out on a day tour at a very reasonable rate to see temples, volcanoes, lakes and coffee plantations. We were so impressed with the driver, Madi, that we got him to drive us up to Lovina when we departed Ubud. Widia also informed us about what was going on in Ubud at the time; information we might otherwise have missed and so we had a compete and wonderful time in Ubud, with many thanks to Widia.
Widia's wife, Ami, is a great masseuse at a great price so we had two massages each whiilst we were there.

Mr Widia and his family have 2 newly nicely renovated and furnished rooms just off Hanumon Street. This seems far from the main drag which is Monkey Forest Road but it is al easily walkable. The family’s friendliness is undescribable, the breakfast (which is included for Rp 80.000 for 2 people) seems small with one jaffle but the big bowl of fruit makes up for it and the garden is not very beautiful but lovely enough in the morning sun and quit (the animals aside). He can be reached on 081 936 283 734.

His paintings are fantastic. He is probably working on one when you visit so you can watch and learn. Widia has various tours and other travel services so whoever ays Ubud is borig is wrong. (Btw Padang Tegal - the city next to Ubud - is actually bigger and this is where most stuff is but the name Ubud is more known so it’s called that.)
