Enjoyed the buggy ride down to this magnificent restaurant setting. The staff were attentive and professional, the lobster, prawns and squid was outstanding. The complimentary amuse Boucher and bread was appreciated. The wagyu sirloin was one of the best we had ever had. The sound of the river during the meal was enchanting and we were totally swept away for the evening. A most memorable and top class evening for a special occasion.

If I could give this restaurant more than 5 points, I probably would...in all areas. We love dining out, and have been in a lot of places in all priceranges, and can confirm that Swept away deserves every single good review. During our stay in Bali we also dined at The Samaya in Semaniyak, and were very pleased with that dinner, but Swept away is far more intimate and in fact has slightly better courses. Quiet surroundings, well componed dishes and great service without being annoying (as some sadly can get). They even took care of the transportation back to our hotel and had no problem whatsoever arranging a cocktail "to go" when leaving.

The only reason I could think of for this restaurant not being number one in Ubud, with the same success as Breezes in Semaniyak, is that very few find there way here since it's located away from central Ubud. Restaurantprices is generally lower in Ubud, and it's easy to find a good and cheap meal within walking distance, which probably also contributes. But don't get greedy, Swept away is definitely worth the money spent!

This is a very top quality restaurant, their food is wonderful and the service is very attentive. The location, rid on the river means you have a wonderful atmosphere, the sounds of the river and al manner of wildlife in the nearby jungle. Plus you get to see sme too...we were entranced by the hummingbirds flitting around.
Try the special taster menu, it is well worth the cost. Be aware that you have to add 21% tax on top, and the drinks prices are expensive. Again, tax is the cause..but try the cocktails, they are just fantastic, and strong too! If you are in one of the villas up the mountain you can get a buggy to take you as it is at the bottom of the resort and the hills are steep. But it is no trouble to the staff at all.

I read about this restaurant from tripadvisor mentioning this place is suitable for kids.. We went there for dinner.. The restaurant apparently located down the hill n quite far from the samaya lobby so they provided buggy car to take us there.. It was a nice experience for my son..

When we arrived, the place were empty, there were only this couple that seemed having their romantic dinner.. We were pleased to be sitted next to the ayoeng river, n realized this is a fine dining place..

They have this menu for kids though, in a quite highly price for me n my husband.. So we just ordered roasted fish for both of us, n for my son we ordered cream potato..

The appetizer was bread, nachos, n chips that my son likes.. It was great till they delivered us this little mango cube n little chocolate thing on top of duck spoon.. It was foie gras.. Hahaha we never taste something like that before, quite shocking for us..

The main food came, n thank goodness they were tremendous.. The cream potato was so creamy n our menu were also great..

The bathroom n the wash basin were good too.. Just loved the view there.. Overall, they had this amazing service.. Lots of smile from the employees.. n when the bill came, it cost around IDR 350.000 for 2 menus n 2 drinks..

When we're finished, we had to wait for buggy car to took us back to the lobby.. So I guess, we were paying more than what we ate here.. We paid for the experience too..

We enjoyed an excellent, romantic sea food barbecue on the first night of our honeymoon stay at Swept Away at The Samaya. The welcome from the restaurant manager and staff was genuinely friendly.

We started off with the Honeymoon cocktail, followed by tasty hors doevrs, then onto the barbeque. This consisted of four large prawns (not the tiny little prawns that you find in the UK!), squid, red snapper, gramundi, chicken satay and corn on the cob. The food was complemented with a selection of sauces, bean salad and spicy green salad. We finished off the selection of deserts, our favourite was the lemon sorbet served in a rice basket (similar to a brandy snap).

Excellent, romantic evening. Highly recommended.
