Alas Petula perfect

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Apr 4, 2017
We stayed three nights, the first night being a very late check in. We were pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade to a beautiful one villa apartment. The positioning was wonderful, within walking distance to main Street, but once in the complex absolute serenity. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The gentleman they chose for our pick up from airport was knowledgeable and spoke English very well. We used him for two days as our personal driver.

My home during my week in Ubud. The place is clean and peaceful but a bit isolated. I spent the first 3 nights there alone and felt a bit spooky as the place was so empty and quiet. The staff is friendly and helpful, the room was big, breakfast was basic and there is no restaurant for dinings. Especially in the evenings it is for sleeping only. Luckily there is a nice restaurant Fussy Bird almost next door, with a healthy menu. Radiantly Alive yoga studio and Bali Buddha are not far either.

We had paid for this hotel for 3 nights but we checked out on the second day

Pros
1) Nice swimming pool
2) quiet environment

Cons
1) Although is near to main street, but the walking distance do not have pavement and is really dark if you walk at night
2) We woke up at 2:30am for Lovina dolphin watching tour, surprised to find out the whole hotel electricity was switched off! Nobody at the reception and was really errie, my girlfriend was terrified.
3) Aircon not working well

Not recommend for couples, but if are single guy and don't mind the walking, this is quite a good place

Room tip: This hotel is too quiet

Great place! Stayed in the family room. The staff are friendly and efficient. The pools are clean and refreshing. Really can't fault much, apart from a temple nearby where they were practicing for upcoming ceremonies till late on some of the nights (I suppose the owners can't do much about that). Would gladly recommend to fellow travelers and wouldn't hesitate to return!

This property was such a surprise. I thought for the cost of a 3 night stay...it would have been a tad basic...how wrong was I. This property is simply stunning. The grounds and the pool were beautiful and because there are only a few villas/rooms...it is very private. We had a family room and it was huge. There is only one bathroom but it has a great shower and separate bath. My stay here reminded me of how Bali was 20 years ago. The service was fantastic and every request was met within minutes. We even booked a scooter for $6 AUD a day!!. Oh and the breakfast was fantastic with fresh juice everyday. Do yourself a favour and book this hotel when you ate staying in Ubud. It wont break your budget and you will get so much more for your money. Thank you Alas Petulu for making our stay such a memorable one. PS...go to Spice for tapas and cocktails (same owner as Mosiac) and the Daily Baguette for coffee. You can also buy cold meats and cheese to take back to your room for a cheese board.

My wife, daughter and I hade 4 good days at this hotel. Friendly and helpfull staff. Very good for the price. There is only breakfast at the hotel. The rooms is a nice size and clean. The hotel is located on a slope, so there is many steps in the nice garden where the bongalos are located.
