“We'll definitely be back”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the pool villa for a week and didn't want to leave. Annie (the host) was extraordinarily helpful and able to accommodate all our requests. The room was large with a comfy king size bed and modern bathroom. The private pool and kitchen/eating area beside it were perfect for lazy days in a beautifully landscaped tropical environment. Close enough to the centre of town to walk to meals, shopping and sights/cafes in the rice paddies; but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet. I believe it was great value for money and we were made to feel right at home.

Room Tip: All the rooms look great, but I would not go past the pool villa for couples.

I have recently returned from a week at Alas Petulu Cottages. It was a week in heaven. My sister and I stayed in the Pool Villa, which was just perfect . Large bedroom with a massive king bed ,a table and chairs,a side board with lots of drawsa large TVwith lots of engish chanells ,airconditoning and a fan.The bathroom was nearly as bigwith a huge spa bath and a large shower. The kitchen compond was open air with a full size fridge and a 4 burner stove, the dinning table was here with a view of the pool. The pool was very large ,surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden with two deck chairs for sun baking.
The owners Annie and Made were fantasic very helpful in organising our outings and spas, and Annie makes the best omlettes. The driver Kadek was great with a dry sense of humour.Nyoman was a bright face every morning ,chatting with us about what we had done the day before and helped with suggestions for the next days activities.
The grounds are luscious and beautiful and there is a pool on the edge of the ravine looking over a small river.
The location is just perfect, about a 15 minute walk to a good shopping center in one direction and a 20 walk to the heart of Ubud.the bird, animal and insect life is abundant. We even saw a monkey.
Iwould like to thank Annie and Made and all their staff for a great week.

Friendly, modest, cozy, tropikal, at walking distance to Ubud center...
Breakfast was poor but atmosphere was so exciting... I would like to go there one more time.
While we were there a pool was being built in the garden. I hope it will be ready next time...

The staff were fantastic, they were all extremely helpful, polite and friendly.
The grounds/setting of the hotel were gorgeous, it felt like we were in the middle of the jungle! Its surrounded by trees and flowers and the pool was nice. The cottages themselves were also lovely from outside, very sweet. Having breakfast outside with those surroundings was just fab!

On the whole it was great, however there were a few negatives. Inside our cottage (especially the bathroom) the décor was very dated and the bedroom was really dark. It had a couple of small spotlights but even with those on and the 3 lamps the lighting was still terrible.
The location of the hotel is good in that is walking distance from Ubud main road however it isn’t the nicest of walks. It’s along a road with no pavements & no street lights (so its very dark at night). There are also lots of dogs around the hotel that don’t seem very friendly and bark a lot.
I think the thing we liked least and this isn’t the hotels fault, were the chickens nearby. There are loads nearby and they were so noisy! They were literally making noise day and night which made it difficult to sleep and was so annoying. Plus when they started the dogs would start barking too! Not fun.

I was initially suppose to stay for two or three nights and I decided to leave after the first day. The room was musty and dark. Definetely not for claustrophobic people or people who likes space, light and brightness

They also have a kind of spray that they had fixed to the wall so it sprays some lilac perfume in the room every fifteen minutes or so to cover the musty/moldy smell. I actually unhooked it from the wall because it was making me a little sick.
It's a little far from the center. Absolutely not worth the money. There are very good guesthouse cheaper around jl kajeng that are worth it and much cheaper.

Staff was nice and polite

We were pleasantly surprised with this lodging! I agree with everything other reviewers have noted - excellent service & hosts, beautiful garden setting, but also the barking dogs (not something that can be controlled) and the close but slightly out of the way location. We stayed in the two story building - essentially our own building not connected to anything - with the private balcony and veranda. Rooms were clean and well-equipped with a fridge and small kitchen sink area. The pool was amazing - private and almost always empty - it felt like a private pool! Highly recommended!

We were two friends travelling together and we stayed in the family unit - great to have our own rooms. Bliss to hang out on the upper balcony in the evenings after we cooled off in the pool. Easy walk to town - but we found it hard to tear ourselves away from the beautiful blissful gardens.

Room Tip: We loved the family room - we enjoyed the space for the price!
