We stayed at the Samaya Seminyak a few years ago and decided to spend our wedding anniversary here. The staff were friendly and welcoming, we were blown away when we saw the view from our room. It was amazing, like home away from home. We had a great relaxing weekend...

This was our third and not final visit to the Samaya Ubud, we are hoping to stay again in September 2012. My Husband and I visit Ubud for work and pleasure and always stay at the Samaya. Wyan and his wonderful staff are second to none! You are spoilt for choice whilst staying in these Super Chic Villas. We are always made to feel so comfortable and welcome, and everything you desire is met by the wonderful staff. The food is amazing, the breakfast menu is second to none & the afternoon tea of sandwiches, and delightful scones + daily baked delights is a must. Super friendly and so realxing we cannot wait to get back their! Highly Recommended

Room Tip: We have stayed in both the Hillside & River Villas, I love them both!

My husband and I stayed at the Samaya in Ubud, Bali February 13th and 14th, 2012. Our arrangements were made by WorldWide Quest, our trusted travel arrangers, and we did not check out the accommodations beforehand. So we had no idea about the jaw-dropping accommodations awaiting us.

Unfortunately for us, most of Feb 13th was spent in transit and we did not arrive until after dinner. The Samaya is built on a steep hill and staff use golf carts to transport guests around the facility, but guests are welcome to walk if they prefer.

The villa was just amazing and far exceeded our wildest dreams. The villa was spacious with every detail worked out to ensure comfort and convenience. A welcome beverage was provided upon arrival and a snack was awaiting at the villa. There were dressing gowns, slippers, an extensive array of toiletries and refreshments, bottled water, flat screen tv, comfortable bed and pillows, internet, and outside there was a completely private personal swimming pool, daybed and patio surrounded by lush tropical foliage.

A daily personalized newsletter provides guests with a brief look at world news, business, lifestyle, entertainment, weather and Sudoku puzzles. An 8 by 11 format makes this daily news brief the perfect size to take to breakfast.

Each day, a healthy and delicious breakfast was served either in your villa or at the Swept restaurant and ditto for afternoon tea. We only had one afternoon tea served at our villa, opting for the Swept restaurant with its picturesque gardens overlooking rice paddies across the river.

The state-of-the-art gym has many options for your cardio and strength training regimen. The gym is located at the spa but due to our busy schedule I only had a time to enjoy one workout and one pedicure. The pedicurist was extremely good with a keen eye for detail and perfection.

Food was outstanding at the Swept Away (dinner) restaurant located beside the river. With the sound of the river rushing past, we had the most amazing Valentine’s Day dinner; sparkling wine, barbeque port roll, poached prawns, foie gras, white asparagus soup, guava-rose petal sorbet, crusted lamb loin or lobster thermidor, coconut-strawberries mouse tea and coffee with petit fours. The flavours were beyond delicious.

Mr. Wayan Sumabara, and all the staff at Samaya, take a great deal of pride in their jobs and exercise the utmost of courtesy while anticipating your every need. A personal Butler is available at any time. One of our excursions was hiking to the summit of Mount Batur, which required a wake-up call at 2:30am and a boxed breakfast to be ready by 3pm.

When planning our trip, we thought spending 2 days in Bali’s interior would be sufficient, but in hindsight, we would definitely have stayed longer at the Samaya and less time on Bali’s beachfront. We really did not have much time to enjoy this well-run, luxurious hotel in the peace and calm of the countryside.

We stayed at The Samaya for 4 nights in February. Congratulations to Mr Wayan and every member of his wonderful staff. Wow! The architecture and design of these villas has to be seen to be believed. The villas are spotless with every conceivable luxury one could ever dream of. Private pool, gazebo, fabulously comfortable bed - and as for the bathroom. A girl could spend all day in there and never get bored. Have you ever had a spa bath with a built in light show? Just incredible. But it is the little touches that make The Samaya so special. The picnic hamper delivery of breakfast to the villa. The absolute and total privacy. The daily newspaper with your name printed on the masthead. The complimentary and ever so English afternoon tea. The punctual and reliable shuttle into Ubud and most of all, the sweetness and friendliness of the always smiling and happy staff. We loved it and will certainly return. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We were in a hillside villa and it was beautiful.

We would like to thank everyone there for our fabulous stay! The staff was super friendly and they did everything to make us feel special. We stayed there for 3 nights in January celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and had an unforgettable time. It is a very beautiful resort with lovely villas in spectacular setting. The villas are beautiful and have a very good size private swimming pool. The food is excellent – great breakfast and exquisite menus for dinner. Our romantic dinner was exceptional. The spa is awesome and private Yoga lessons were the best I had in Bali! I wish we had more time.
Taking all together we loved the Samaya and fore sure we will be going back again in the future

In July 2011 I stayed with my wife for three days in the Samaya. We spend a week in Bali and decided to split our stay into four days at the sea and three days inland. It was not that our stay at the sea had not been enjoyable, quite the opposite, it was the Samaya's incredible unobtrusive way of providing services to an absolute perfection, that made us aware that our considerations were wrong and we better would have stayed the entire week at the Samaya. Everything, from the booking until our departure had been organized in a perfect way. Unhesitatingly, the Samaya offered us transport from our previous Hotel. The driver turned out to be a knowledgable guide and upon our wish, he offered and organized a stop at a batik craftwork manufacture, not to compare with the usual tourist shops. At our arrival at afternoon, we have been taken on a tour through the Samaya. The location is simply impeccable, of an almost surreal beauty. Our villa was perched at the hillside with a view on the rice paddy terraces. The villas are kept in modern style, the reception building has been designed in Baushaus style, located in an infinite artificial water basin. The entire Hotel precinct was designed carefully consistent with its surrounding environment.
There is a very nice Spa, a Gym and two restaurants, offering breakfast and dinner at two different locations, needless to mention, both offering a spectacular view. Food was excellent, the Nasi Goreng the best I have ever eaten and none of the restaurants downtown come close to the quality and taste of the food of the Samaya restaurant.
There would be so much more, worth to be mentioned: the lovely afternoon tea, the mountain bike excursions, hiking, and much more, gladly all already cherished by my numerous predecessors in this hotel review section. I would like however dedicate my last word to the staff.
We have been treated unforgettable nicely, the place has such positive vibes, which to a good extend is owed to the lovely staff. Everybody works with a convincing passion, commitment and pride for the Samaya destination, recognizable not just obeying the companies values but positively transmitted by the management.
My deepest respect for what Mr. Wayan Suambara the Hotel Manager has achieved. I can truly recommend this destination and can't wait to come back soon.

Room Tip: As the villas are located at the hillside, the villas on a higher level offer a stunning view on the...
