“Amazing cooking class”

a group of 4 european cooking fans booked the "asian ingredients in western cuisine" class and learned a lot about cooking techniques and asian ingredients. it was the most amazing afternoon in bali and a lot of fun and useful experience. chef blake thorne was not only a highest-level professional but also an excellent and very entertaining host. don't miss that and book - you'll never regret it. we will be back soon. rene stammbach, switzerland

“This class more than lived up to our expectations”

Having eaten at Mozaic previously, we were pretty sure this class would be worth the reasonably expensive price. And it certainly was excellent. Firstly, the amazing kitchen set-up and the fact that our teacher (Blake Thorne) was a professional chef as well as an excellent - and humorous - communicator. After a drink and canapes, we were taken into the kitchen garden to learn and sample some of the Balinese ingredients that make the resulting food (using French techniques) so much more interesting and exciting. We all sat around the work bench and took turns helping to make our three course lunch. We already had our recipe folders and were able to take notes during the class. Before, and during the class we were offered refreshing mocktails and we all enjoyed the delicious meal we'd created, accompanied by a glass of good wine. At the conclusion of the day we were given a pack that included a very useful apron. We've already used Blake's fantastic technique for cooking a rack of lamb - thank you! Our only comment is that we really wanted a good coffee at the end of the meal and had to request (and pay) for it. It could surely easily be included. We look forward to our next visit to Mozaic - both cooking and/or dining. We also ate at the Beach Club in Seminyak and that was also fabulous and a very special night. Now if only we had the two fantastic kitchen staff here at home ...

“Best value for money”

Being a cook and having cooked Indonesian food for over 20 years, I wanted more than just to watch a home cook show me how to cook nasi goreng in front of 20 others so I chose this cooking class. Yes it was expensive but by far the best value for money experience we had in Bali. Working with a trained chef, there were only 4 of us, and we learnt more about flavour combinations, cooking techniques and utilizing local ingredients than we have in many other tourist-style cooking classes. We were given excellent refreshments including quality wine to have with the food and got to keep the apron! Definitely a must if you are at all interested in food and cooking techniques.

“Interesting experience.”

As I promised to the Chef, here is my review. Me and my girlfriend enjoyed this entire afternoon very much. Mozaic gives you a personal experience which makes it special. If you wanna learn about the complexity of Asian fusion cuisine, you must try. if you are a food lover, you must try as well. Thanks to all the team. Alban

“A great day and learned a lot”

We did a half-day (4 hour) cooking class with chef Blake Thorne with a group of friends and had an absolutely fantastic day - in fact one of our best days in Bali.

Many cooking classes are an enjoyable day out, but in this one I actually learned a number of cooking techniques that I will use regularly. The class was a mix of hands-on and demonstration but there was sufficient interaction to really get the feel of cooking the dishes.

And what dishes they were! We took part in cooking and then ate a three course lunch of confit coral trout, lamb rack and creme brûlée. Each had an interesting asian twist to a classic French dish. Blake put particular emphasis on explaining the combining of traditional Balinese / Indonesian ingredients including a tasting tour of the restaurant's garden. In many places you would pay more for the lunch we had than the cost of the course.

I would love to return to experience the full degustation menu in the beautiful garden setting of the restaurant.
