Simply luxurious, private, stylish and friendly. A wonderful mix of European style and Balinese tranquility.

Note that pools are deep and not fenced off so if your kids can't swim, maybe go when they are older, but definitely go!

Room Tip: Suites are huge. Outdoor bathroom suites the best.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights in July and I wish we had been able to stay a lot longer. I can't say enough positive things, as this is probably the nicest resort I've ever stayed at. From the moment you arrive, the staff is unbelievably welcoming and friendly. Everything the other reviewers have said holds true: you get a lovely welcome drink upon arrival; the stay includes a free massage, daily breakfast, and an airport transfer. We were actually upgraded, to our surprise, to a 2-bedroom villa on our second night, which was beyond amazing. There's a free shuttle that takes guests to Ubud, and the driver/guide (who was wonderful) actually escorted us to Monkey Forest, the markets, etc. all free of charge. The setting, the service, and the personalized attention are unparalleled. All in all, the trip of a lifetime. I hope to return soon!

Room Tip: If you can swing it, the 2-bedroom villa is out of this world.

We live in Singapore and have traveled to some luxurious places. I would compare Chapung SeBali to the nicest resort we visited in the Maldives. It's very high end feeling.

Upon arrival, you are treated with respect and care. You are escorted to the restaurant to enjoy a refreshing welcome drink and fruit cup. This is better than your average welcome drink.

Around this time, you start to see how gorgeous the grounds are. The river far below, the rice padi, the organic garden--all are stunning. Also, in the restaurant, you'll notice the very chic furniture. More on that later.

Once you finish your welcome drink, you are taken to the spa, where you receive a complimentary foot wash and massage. Just go ahead and book some treatments while you are there. We were glad we did.

By then, you're crazy with anticipation about your villa. If they've treated you this well in such a short time, you must really be in for a treat.

Get ready to drop your jaw. Unless you are some kind of uber-jet-set-snob, you will be impressed with this place. First, it's huge. Verrrrry comfortable space. We had a private pool and IT was huge too! THe backyard is perfectly manicured and landscaped. Minibar is well stocked. The building materials are gorgeous--marble, slate, volcanic rock. Really varied in texture.

Then you are shown to the bedroom. Hello, mid-century modern! Picture in your minds eye the most clean, classic danish design, and there you have the furniture. The owner actually manufactures the furnishings in Bali. We even had an original Eames Chair in our room. I could not believe that. Hardwood floors, canopy bed, nice TV, gorgeous writing desks, and a door that opens into the pool are among some of the features of the bedroom.

The bathroom is equally as impressive. Enormous bathtub, very cozy closet and dressing area.

The bed is so soft, and the sheets are so nice and soft. Silk down comforter, I believe. Loads of free water around the room. Cozy sofa in the open lounge area.

Food was great. Breakfast every morning was a treat. The french toast was off-the-hook. Can't beat the view, either.

One night, we had a Greek buffet for dinner and it was delightful. So fresh, using organic produce from the garden. Very well done. Another night, we had the beetroot salad and falafel.

At every step of the way, we were treated unbelievably well. Our every need was seen to, even so far as servicing the room while we were down at breakfast. This is a very well managed establishment.

We had our massages in our room. They are extremely affordable for a resort this nice. I'd say it's a big draw to Chapung. I was looking at some other places at the same time I booked here, and Chapung's spa prices were the best for this price point.

I honestly don't know how you'd do any better.

IF YOU ARE WANTING TO ENJOY UBUD, I would recommend staying IN Ubud. This resort is too lovely to be shuffling back and forth. If you have done Ubud many times, and just want to have an outstanding relaxation experience, you should just book here for a few nights and savor it. You can always go back into Ubud when you're done (as we did).

Enjoy enjoy enjoy! We will be back.

Room Tip: Spring for the private pool villa.

Cannot say more about the quality of the people and the service provided. The staff was so friendly and appropriately attentive. The massages were amazing and the open-aired set up was so peaceful and beautiful. The daily included breakfasts were great and the food was so very fresh. The staff assisted with any reservations. We had them drop us off for a bike ride through the rice paddies and it was a breathtaking ride (at times a narrow path, but a great work out with amazing views). Our villa had an out door living area and a stunning private pool. All views were fabulous and the staff made the trip that much more enjoyable. Would definitely go back!

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room there, to be honest. There are not many rooms, but ours had a...

We stayed in a Villa for 5 nights in July and loved it. The villa was very stylish, spacious, quiet and private. Perfect for relaxing. The setting was stunning, very green with a beautiful outlook.

The ride into town on the free shuttle was about 15 mins however we preferred to walk into town which took about 45 - 50 mins.

We thoroughly recommend the mountain bike ride (organised through the hotel), it was one of the highlights of the trip as we felt we saw more of the 'real Bali'.

The staff at Chapung were welcoming and friendly and happy to assist. We would recommend staying here and although we rarely stay at the same place twice as like to experience new places, we would definitely return to champing for a relaxing holiday.

We stayed at this place and loved it. The villas are beautiful, the furniture and feel is geourgios, they are really big and the pool in front of the door is just great - absolute privacy. However, be aware that the pools are really deep and not secured f you travel with small kids.

We loved that the place was so quiet, outside the masses in Ubud but it is quite a ride to down town (6 km).

On the down side, the owner was there for a couple of days and obviously didn't think it necessray to great his guests which I found quite rude. The service staff is very kind and friendly, the quality of the service when it comes to requests is very good but should be no less than excellent given the rom rate.

My wife and I stayed in Villa 6 for 5 nights in the second week of June 2012. We have nothing but praise for everything about Chapung SeBali. The staff are incredibly attentive, they greet you by name at all times and the gardens are just what we were looking for as they are beautifully kept but still have a rural feel about them, including an endless array / species of water lilies, dragonflys (Chapung means dragonfly), frogs and birds.

We fell in love with our villa from the moment we stepped through the entrance. We chose villa 6 based on comments from other Trip Advisor reviews. Villa 6 like all Chapung villas is overly spacious, clean and has very comfortable indoor and outdoor furnishings - perfect for relaxing. Its swimming pool is exceptional, approx 10 x 3.5 metres, almost 2 metres deep and is fed with natural spring water. The real bonus about villa 6 is the views as it sits atop of the terraces upon which Chapung is built. The rice fields literally abut the rear and one side of villa 6 and the view over the hills and trees from the bedroom, outdoor lounge and the pool are exceptional (see photos). Of course you can step straight from the bedroom and bathroom into the pool.

You can casually walk into Ubud from Chapung (approx 45 - 50 minutes). It is a relatively easy walk and well worth doing. The resort also run a free return shuttle service into Ubud at prescribed times during the day and night. Travelling outside the set times will cost approx $5.

Close by to the resort are some small local (village) shops selling beer, soft drinks, cigarettes, snacks etc. They are about a 5 minute walk (turn right on the road after exiting Chapung SeBali).

Would we stay at Chapung again - absolutely. Apart from the quality of the villas and the attentive and first rate staff, the peace and quite at Chapung means you can relax and refresh in heavenly surroundings. There are only 8 villas at Chapung and all are private.

Finally, my wife had a massage and facial from Sri at Chapung and is still talking about how wonderful it was. One more thing, we had a candlelit dinner in our room and loved it.
