There are so many hotels & bungalows to choose from in Ubud, you are really spoilt for choice. Work out if you want an in-house Spa, a pool etc. From the street, it doesn't feel like Sri Bungalows exist, but they are all hidden in the fields at the back. We had one the other side of the paddyfield and watching the sun go down with the many ducks quacking away was very special. The pool is decent, with loungers and towels for you to use. The staff are very friendly but don't expect breakfast to be amazing. Small internet cafe right off Reception but the real highlight of the Sri Bungalows is the rooms. Spacious, clean, fully air-con and I thoroughly recommend it. Make sure you go to Three Monkeys restaurant up the road.

Room Tip: Choose one by the paddfields at the back

When I was searching for a hotel to stay in, my only requirements were its cleanliness, its affordability and its proximity to Ubud Palace, as I wanted to watch the dance at Ubud Palace and didn't want to walk too far at night. Sri Bungalows' standard room was what I could find available.

However, I got more than I bargained for! What a beautiful room I got, the verandah overlooking the swimming pool! My room was large and spacious, with a view of the paddy fields beyond the swimming pool on the verandah and the gorgeous hotel gardens from our bedroom window. The bathroom, particularly the shower stall, was very spacious too! Good thing I brought my own toiletries, however, as all the hotel provided was a bar of soap. They provided a clothes-horse right on the verandah, and the bali weather had my wet clothes dry within a day.

The mattress of the bed was very comfortable, which I highly appreciated due to an unexpected back injury just before my trip. I love how they hung the mosquito-netting; very romantic appearance! I wish I had had the time to try the swimming pool; it looked really inviting.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Someone came right over when in our panic we thought there was no hot water (just had to wait a little longer) and they loaned us a plug adaptor when we realized we had forgotten to bring one for our netbooks.

My only two gripes staying at Sri Bungalows are that the free wi-fi in the room could only log in one person at a time and the breakfast was far from generous. However, I highly recommend ordering the tomato-egg-cheese jaffle; so delicious that I didn't mind the breakfast portions at all!

We were upgraded to a deluxe room (first floor)-- in the middle of rice paddies, with just absolutely nice views from the windows and door. The room is clean and cozy. It is located along monkey forest road where everything is accessible and walking distance (ubud market, stores, cafes, etc). Their breakfast is ok with only few choices. Better if they have telephone in each room for room service and of course for emergencies. The guys in the reception were really helpful and kind. We even booked their driver for a tour and they gave us a good price. Over all, it was really a pleasant stay. My suggestion is to book in advance to get a lower rate and choose the deluxe rooms -- those in the middle of rice paddies to enjoy a scenic, quiet and romantic stay =)

I stayed in the new Super Deluxe upstairs room. Two balconies- one front and one at the back - both with daybeds and comfortable furniture, nice bathroom, clean and spacious room. I do think this room is significantly better and larger than most in the complex and quieter too as it is set right back through rice paddies. It would be good if there was a telephone in the room for emergencies if nothing else or to contact reception, and although a thermos of tea arrived every day it would be good to have a jug and coffee/tea making facilities. You get the room and a breakfast which is tea or coffee, a fruit plate and a choice of eggs and toast, or pancake or jaffle - no fruit juice. Very basic breakfast but acceptable. There is no room service or restaurant and the actual lobby and breakfast area could do with a facelift. It's unusual to get just the room, but it is quiet and the rice paddy views are calming (but sometimes smelly). The pool is small but OK but the pool furniture definitely needs replacing. For the price in Ubud you would expect just a little more, but the location - in the middle of Monkey Forest St can't be beaten as it means you can walk to a plethora of restaurants and bars. Overall a very pleasant and relaxing stay and with just a little bit of gloss this place could be really something. The grounds are well maintained which is typical for Ubud.

The location of this hotel in Monkey Forest road mid way between the market and the Monkey Forest is ideal but once inside the hussle and bussle of the street disappears. We stayed in once of the new rooms for a week, looking out onto the rice paddy and it could have been a rural location with the ducks coming right up to the verandah and the cows grazing in the rice. The staff are friendly and efficient and having wifi access to the room was a bonus.

Stayed for 10 days in an upstairs deluxe room overlooking the rice paddy fields. Lovely large newly built room, free wifi, great balconies front and back, complete with daybeds to sit, relax and watch the world (and ducks) wander by. The hotel's reception area is on Monkey Forest but the rooms are at the back of the property away from the street. Fantastic location from which to explore Ubud, eat at the many terrific cafes and restaurants, shop until your drop along Jl Hanoman and Monkey Forest as well as at Pasar Ubud, plus plenty of options within walking distance of the hotel for relaxing massages and spa treatments. Terrific!
