Kagemusha is tucked in from (Kokila)Jl. Pengosekan(0361) 973134
I was brought there by some locals in the know- It is a very serene spot- open air but covered- looking back at rice paddies. It has a Japanese design, which is very hamdsome. There is tatami seating right on the rice field and a large one tree slab table in the more indoor space. The food was delicious and creative and beautifully presented. Both times I went there there were Japanese people there(among others:) - relaxing and enjoying their meals. This place is best for a laid back meal-
and yet it it is full of sensual pleasures- the food and the view and the design of the restaurant encourage a contemplitive enjoyment. The first time I was there was with a large group- and we laughed and talked and enjoyed the feeling of being in a very well curated living room/ padio.
The second time was a late lunch alone and I enjoyed watching life on the paddy fields while taking a very welcoming and welcome break from the afternoon heat. I spent that time writing in my journal- which was one of the best times I had to record all that i had done while I was in Ubud. Highly reccomended.
It is a bit down a lane off the main street so map it out before going. It's tucked in-ness is what makes it so special:)
