how can a place like this can exist? I could't expect anything as good as that that for my small budget... the location is far enough to feel lost and close enough to go every night to ubud center wouthout worries, just bring a torche for the footpath. The roosters starts singing early that is true but it is a part of the experience! after the 1st night u seriously can't hear them anymore and no one in the b&b was really bothered, everyone i talked to felt just blessed to enjoy such a great senery. I just hope the price wont raise till I come back nxt year!

if you want to relax, this is not for you,the staff are extremely nice and the outlook and setting is fantastic. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is great too but the roosters are relentless.
The fighting roosters kept next door start at about 3.30am and set every rooster in the area off and they continue till sundown (everyday). We were there for 8 nights and I was at my wits end . The only way to get some sort of sleep is to have a mp3 player up full volume to drown them out. Ear plugs dont work!! Its a shame but the truth, luckily we had 3 nights in a fantastic place to compensate, try Greenfields.

Amazing place, just really amazing. The views, the service, the rooms, everything was perfect. They bring you breakfast home cooked whenever you want. Nothing is too much to ask. Wayan drove us to Trek Mt.Batur one morning, orgazined the trip for us and slept in the car to wait for us to get back! He also took us on a bike tour of the rice fields, this was an amazing experience. We feel that we say the real Bali going though the villages etc.

It's 10 minutes from the main road, and really worth it. Bring earplugs for the roosters, but after the first night you won't notice.

Make sure to visit the Zen Spa while you are there. Very nice balineese massage, again a recommendation from Wayan.

The food in Ubud is amazing, I wish I could click my heels and be back there!

This B&B has 2* price and 5* service. Don't miss it!

Just returned home and like the previous reviewer said - if I too could click my heels we would definately be back there. A pleasant 10 minute walk from main rd - far enough to be away from all the noise of town.
Mary and Wayan were away so unfortunately we didnt get to meet them. But Suma, his wife and son were staying there and Nyoman came to work every day so we were able to get to know these beautiful people. Suma is full of information and is an excellent driver if you want to get out for a day exploring the wonders that Bali has to offer. The rooms are spotless and have everything you need. Waking up to the roosters and looking out your window to the most amazing views is the best way to start your day. Time for a walk, take sunrise photos and return for a delicious breakfast - there are choices and we can recommended them all. Its so easy to relax on your balcony and gaze out over the rice paddies.
There are cheaper prices around for B&B's but we wont be looking. We will definately be returning next year.

Sawah Sunrise is a nice hotel, but..

- The roosters next door will wake you up at 4am, and will keep going all day. Don't be fooled by this! The neighbours keep them for cockfights in small cages and they make a lot of noise. So unless you plan on being away all day and waking up very early...
- Don't go with Suma (the caretaker) on a tour around Ubud. He charges more than the guys on the street and tourist offices and knows/explains nothing & will take to the most expensive shops so he gets a good commission.
- Mary & Wayan may be friendly in email contact, but are not in Ubud when we were there

We have travelled around the world for more than a year and are used to "noise", but we have never experienced any thing like this. The noise is just too much...

We had very high expectations because of all the other reviews, but for this money (action price 300.000, will be raised to more than 400.000) you can get a much nicer, quieter, friendlier stay in Ubud. We left after one night and easily found a better place.

I loved this B&B. Ubud is a beautiful place and to stay right in the ride paddie fields - away from the roads - you can be guaranteed an authentic stay.

Mary & Wayan are beautiful people. Mary was so informative about Ubud, that my stay was enhanced by her knowledge. I loved the communal table for breaky in the mornings. You can chat with other people (great for me as a solo traveller) and have a good convo with Mary. Wayan makes a mean nasi goreng!! Yum

It was really lovely staying somewhere that was more like a homestay - 2 cats and 2 dogs - all friendly.

The roosters were a bit annoying, but you get that where its more rural - so just have some ear plugs.

The view was just AMAZING!!! I would definitely go back here - no doubt.

Enjoy and from all these reviews - book ahead.

We stayed for just two nights in December - had the two rooms upstairs for our family of four. It was quiet and peaceful. Rooms are lovely - and with that amazing view. Small touches like the hot water flasks refreshed early in the morning for tea/coffee are great. And Mary and Wayan are indeed fabulous. Hope they make room for second timers when its all booked out next year!
