We stayed in the superior room - upstairs. Our room was amazing, spacious, cool and great view of the paddy field. The guesthouse staff are always friendly and ready to help, they rent scooters and we needed to book a taxi at 3am, which was no problem. Breakfast was different everyday and always served with a smile. Fresh towels daily and very clean rooms. I would say the staff are great, room excellent, location excellent and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: If you book superior room, ask for upstairs.

The idea was to stay here 5 nights however we left after 2 nights ( mandatory 2 night stay ) The guesthouse itself looks quite ok, they have wifi ( which has to be reset each 8 hours kind of.. ) they serve breakfast ( which was the most terrible all over Bali ) but the rooms were the baddest! The bed itself was very dirty, no clean sheets, a lot of stains and a bad smell! Also the shower was quite dirty as well as the tea cups etc when we entered the room.. No good experience here compared to the rest of Bali Hotels and guesthouses..

Location-wise, this is a great place to explore central Ubud. However, this is not a great place for a long term stay, that is, at least at the standard room package. The rooms have vents to allow air flow, but it also meant that you can hear everyone's business, and vice versa (we heard a couple next door doing... their business, and two girls tearfully reconciling at 2:30am). Shampoo and soap are not provided. The eatery here exists only to serve breakfast and there is no choice for breakfast - you eat what they give you. While rooms are clean, the toilet towards the end of our stay smelled like an open sewer.

Most damning of all, our booking was mixed up, but I managed to prove our case. I see from other reviews that this has happened before.

So: great cheap place for a short term stay, but make sure at least the details are correct. The staff are pretty laid back, so don't expect anything professional.

Room Tip: It seems that if you go for a more expensive package, you might be able to get a quieter room. I wou...

First thing we experienced - when we arrived, they had no record of our reservation. I quickly pulled out the confirmation email and they did apologize. Tey gave us a room but told us we needed to move the next day to a different room. Mistakes happen...we understand.

But then we were given the room, which would be just a fine room for about $20 a night. But this one was $50 USD a night ??? The bathroom was REALLY smelly. Mildewed and had four large bugs in it when we first arrived. There were 2 towel provided and a roll of toilet paper...but NO SOAP !! This means that upon arrival when we go to the bathroom, we have no way of washing our hands properly. I asked immediately if maybe they had forgotten soap in the room, and the gentleman told me that they do not provide soap in this hotel - and I should go out and buy it at a store. REALLY... For probably a very small price per room, I think they can provide a small soap for $50 USD a night.

The service, the room, the breakfast - were all what I would expect for $20 or less a night in Ubud. The next morning we promptly got out and found a nearby hotel for us to move to (Alam Indah in Nyukhuning) for EXACTLY the same price. But with all the toiletries, mosquito netting on the beds, beautiful jungle views, impeccable service, elaborate breakfast, free transportation anywhere in the Ubud area all day long.

Kunang Kunang guest house has the feeling of a place that was slapped together quickly just for the purpose of making money in central Ubud. Never again will we recommend or return to this place. Do not stay here.

I stayed for two nights but my visit did not get off to a good start when the airport pickup that was arranged (and confirmed 2 days before arriving) did not happen. I waited for more than 30 minutes and eventually caught an airport taxi (from fixed price booth just outside arrivals area). It was only 225000, cheaper than Kunang had offered me (300000). No apology or reason was given once I arrived. Room was comfortable and bathroom was adequate. View over recently harvested rice paddy was nice. Location away from street was quiet.

We went to the hotel and were shown our room - largish room and big bed; we booked and paid four days before we needed it. When we arrived to stay we were given a much smaller room, with a small bed - and it was the only room available. We were close to the entrance so it was noisy, had to ask for toilet paper and no soap or bottled water provided.

On the plus side - it is central, nearly opposite a great restaurant (Kafe), and looks over paddy fields. Staff friendly. A room on the upper floor is probably much nicer.

Stayed there for 2 nights early May 2012. As we are a family of 3 adults, we have the room with 1 single and 1 double bed with ceiling fan located on the 3rd Floor. Room is cleaned everyday and is comfortable. The bathroom though not dirty but may need a bit upgrading as the water pressure for the shower is not vey strong. Our room is only equiped with bath towels without any other bathroom toiletries. However there is a small shop in front that see shampoo sachets and other needful toiletries if you have not brought it along with you. Garden compound and surrounding areas are well maintained, A hot flask of hot tea is brought up and is placed on the coffee table at our balcony for our consumption. Simple breakfast with either banana pancake or toast and fruits. The staff are generally very friendly and helpful. From our balcony we can see the rice fields. The air is quite cooling especially at night. What I like most staying here was waking up every morning to sound of nature especially the cheerful chirping birds. The hotel is also conveniently located as you can easily cover most of the shops and eateries on the main street on foot. Good Value
