I loved the beauty of the rice terraces, but row of many vendors and tour vans made it feel very touristy. If organized better, the vendors could be relocated to a nearby locale while the vans should be given a parking area instead of trying to squeeze alongside the already narrow road at the top of the terrace.

This was a short pre-breakfast walk of about 1 1/2 hours starting from the hotel Uma and visiting the organic gardens of the Pulau Kepala (excellent restaurant) and then on into the rice paddies.
Great fun and with a knowledgeable guide very educational. Recommended you do a Paddy walk

The unique landscape will stay in my mind forever. Amazing colours. One of the most symbolic images of Bali.

the greens here are spectacular - and especially at low season (when I went), it's great for photography without too many people crowding the landscape. I see now that the fields are artificial - but I think it's alright. You see padi fields on the sides of roads in bali anyway, and it's rather nice to see what they could have been. The souvenir stores by the rice terraces are pretty typical, but aren't too expensive so it might be good to get souvenirs here!
