We really enjoyed our time at Amori Villa, very personalised service, beautiful views and excellent housekeeping provision.

We went there on our honeymoon and absolutely loved the place the staff was the most hospitable and accommodating I have ever seen ever.

We had read all the reviews here before booking and were really looking forward to a few days of luxury. We were disappointed. No 'wow' factor when you enter, it feels dated, room smells damp and we didn't have a view. Pool and eating area has a view over the valley but the whole place has the feel of someone's house rather that a luxury boutique resort which is what we were expecting - my wife wanted to check-out as soon as we arrived. On a positive note, the room was clean and staff were nice and friendly. I guess people have different expectations but at close to $300 a night (including taxes) it's not cheap and we were expecting more having just come from a beautiful villa down by the coast near Sanur.

We had our honeymoon at Amori Villa for ten nights.

When we arrived very late after a long and exhausting day, and were surprised with cold drinks, a delicious snack and refreshing towels.

The staff had lit lamps in our room, and spread rose petals everywhere! We really felt like we were on honeymoon from that moment on.

Every day, the cleaning staff (who we termed 'room ninjas') would come in and make our room like new twice a day! We rarely actually saw them though, hence the nick name. The bed was made in new and interesting ways each day. I didn't know you could make sheets look so good.

We spent a lot of time at the villa just relaxing. The staff made us feel like royalty.

The only negative comment I have is that wasn't as quiet as I had hoped. There was construction in the villages near by, so the day was punctuated by sounds of distant hammers. Although, compared to Australia's construction noise, this noise was fairly minimal.

Overall, it was extremely relaxing, romantic and great value for money.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Valley View Suite for three nights with at the end of July 2011 and were amazed at how beautiful Amori was.

In our open air bathroom there were two showers, a bath so big that when I lay down I still couldn't touch the end, and a fish pond with beautiful fish.

The staff were so polite and flexible and were happy to organise anything we needed at any time of the day (including at 2am when the tour driver to take us hiking up Mt Batur couldn't find the place) - but never intruded. In fact, our driver even arranged for a friend of his to loan us a motorbike and helmets for the day at "mates rates" so we could take a look around the Ubud area on our own.

With only a couple of villas this is definately the place to come if you want a luxurious retreat.

The only downside is that with such a small Villa very few taxis/tour operators know where the Villa is so make sure you take a detailed map with you!
