“Beatiful location, lovely family, but the wrong time...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2010

Had we stayed at Ala Hibiscus 2 any other time, it would've been ideal. The family that runs the place is great. Their kids can often be heard playing outside, they're friendly and you can see that they take great pride in their facility.

The location really couldn't be any better too. Set in rice fields, our room overlooked the brand new pool and beautiful green fields. It's also was within walking distance into the city.

However, we arrived when they were doing construction on the top floor of our room, so what would've been a serene and tranquil escape, turned out to be quite noisy. They were apologetic though and did offer a discount on the room.

As far as the room, it was clean, spacious and simple. The bathroom was also spacious, but we had a problem with the water from the shower getting all over the floor and not being able to drain (so we always had a puddle near the tub). There are little quirks that that here and there, but it's a reminder that it is a family run business and they're still getting their facility together.

Despite having to leave because of the noise, i would still come back (post construction) because while still developing, it's got great potential and you really cannot beat the beautiful location!

This hotel is in a great location if you want to get away from the noise of cars and motos. There is a 3-5 minute walk through the rice fields to get to it but its well worth it as the view is lovely and the sounds of the insects, birds and frogs is really fabulous. The room is clean and simple but with a private porch you can enjoy a peaceful breakfast while admiring the rice fields in front. The breakfast is great. They put a very tasty spin on the banana pancake - the best I've had in Bali!. The bathroom, again though simple was clean and had a hot shower. Go for the upstairs rooms as the view is what makes it worth while. They are building a swimming pool which is not yet finished but looks like it won't be long. Over all this place is best suited to the budget traveler that wants somewhere a little nicer than the regular budget accommodation.

The hotel is off the beaten track, at night you can hear frogs, fishes and other animals (we thought fish never make any sounds:) The greatest asset of the hotel is apart from its localisation and beauty, is its owner, a nice helpful guy. He will help you with almost any problem you have and at the same time he doesn't impose himself with anything. The breakfasts are different every day. And the hotel has one of the most beautiful bathroom we have ever seen... For sure, in whole Indonesia. In short, it can be recommended for short or long stays. And one more thing: Lonely Planet Indonesia doesn't give it the merit it deserves.
