My wife and I has the best time living in Casa Ganesha. The staff is incredible and very friendly. The food at the restaurant is tasty and the staff can always cater to your palate. We used the spa and pool on many occassions and felt deeply relaxed in a very beautiful town. One suggestion though, take your laptop with you as television entertainment is limited.

We stayed at Casa Ganesha directly after Tegal Sari (which was fully booked) and unfortunately it sufferwed by comparison - but it was a nice hotel with lovely comfortable beds, wifi, safe and fridge in the room - and really friendly staff.

The bathroom was basic and a bit tired looking and there was no drawers for clothes etc. and the rats in the roof above the restaurant were a bit disconcerting (but they only made an appearance in the morning when the owners left food as part of their daily offering!)

Overall we enjoyed our stay - but it lacked the special touch of some hotels.

We checked in for one night and so far have stayed five. Its not the ritz but its clean, incredibly friendly, within 10 minutes walk of 20+ good restaurants and it punches way above its US$50 a night rate. The reviewer who said its an hour from town has either got lost, has walking difficulties or was just plain grumpy when they wrote the review. Its simply nonsense to suggest you walk along broken pavements above open sewers - pavements are 90% ok, the odd slab is broken, but its Bali for godsake, not central London. Hundreds of people walk it every hour and nobody I spoke to mentioned seeing open sewers, just normal flood water. There is a free shuttle bus to centre of town if you dont like walking, or you can walk in 20 minutes but on that walk you pass hundreds of shops, bars and restaurants that are equal in quality and lower in price than central town. It may not be central town, but its an ok area and we loved it. Our room is clean, ok size and bathroom is ok - sure there is no shower curtain as someone mentioned, but if you dont thrash around like an idiot then the room stays dry enough. I can't fault the staff, they smile constantly and go out of their way to help you. I would definately stay here again and as a couple on a 9 month Asia tour, on a budget, I would recommend this hotel as a wee bit of luxury on an otherwise tight budget - we normally budget half the cost of Casa Ganesha but this was money well spent. In room internet never worked for me, but its 5 metres to reception where it worked every day, at any time, perfectly well.

The description on the internet promised much more of this place than it delivered. For the price it was disappointing and there are far better value places around. We had a room on the ground floor and it was dark during the day. Many things in the room didn't work. The pool was OK although rather open to restaurant and people traffic within grounds. Breakfast was tasty but dinner was very average. We walked to the main stretch of Ubud once but it is a bit far to do it often and traffic jams meant getting to the other side by taxi can be a hassle.

Agree with DaveNTess... The place is overrated overall and the cost is twice what it should be. Paid US$ 55 for a double. The gardens are nice and the rooms could be a lot nicer with a few adjustments. We had no problems with mosquitoes while we stayed here. Breakfast was fine, nothing special. The safe in the room didn't work. The WIFI in the room worked half the time. The shower in the bathroom was fine with hot water... There is no separate shower though so the toilet and the bathroom floor will get wet but dry fairly quickly. The AC worked quite well. The phones didn't work (if you wanted to dial out or call the reception desk)

The staff is friendly and very nice. The beds were fairly comfortable except for some stains or spots on the sheets and towels. It's about a 10 minute walk to Monkey Forest and another 10 minutes to the center.

So overall we were disappointed but would have been satisfied if it were half the cost.
