Certificate of Excellence

This is now our third time staying at Villa Agung Khalia. We would not consider lodging anywhere else in the Ubud area. Not only are the facilities and the view superb, but the staff is particularly helpful in arranging visits to local craft shops and locating unique cultural events in the area.

Three people in particular deserve special mention. Agung, the manager of the villa, is an amazing source of information about what is happening around Ubud. Guru, the young man at the front desk, is especially good at booking trips and lodging for you when you wish to travel elsewhere in Bali. Finally, a driver named Landung (landung6@gmail.com)--who is not actually an employee of Villa Agung Khalia but frequently works for the establishment--can take you anywhere on the island and show you things that many people never get a chance to see. His English is excellent. Together, the three of them can make your time in Bali an unforgettable experience.

Room Tip: We've stayed in different rooms each trip, and they all seem to be good.

I went with a group of friends, but these villas could easily accommodate a romantic honeymoon or a family getaway.

The friendly staff made us feel very welcomed with their services like shuttles into town, laundry, room cleaning, and breakfast. For your morning meal you are provided with fresh fruit, Balinese coffee, and an entree of your choice. There are wonderful places to eat and shop in the downtown of Ubud, which is less than a ten minute drive.

We didn't spend much time in our bedrooms, but the beds and bathrooms were very clean. I recommend spraying your room with bug spray and turning on your fan because the mosquitos can become quite irritating after the sun sets. At night time, I loved hearing the natural soundtrack of running water, crickets, frogs, and geckos. When you wake up, I highly suggest taking a morning walk around the rice fields, it's such great way to start your day!

During the day you can tan on the lounging chairs or take a dip in the gorgeous pool. If you're looking for some shade, the gazebos are a relaxing place to take a nap or check your email (they have wifi).

If you have any questions, find Guru at the front desk. He can help you with your travel accommodations, answer questions about their Hindu culture, and offer advice of where to eat and sightsee throughout the island.

This place is amazing!! Such beautiful views and people! The workers are beyond nice! Dayu (a women that works there) has an amazing gift for names. You tell her once and every time she sees you she will say hi and your name! You ask Guru for help and he will stop everything he's doing to help you figure out what you should do on your adventure through Bali! The villas are always spotless. No dust, bugs, or dirt! Beds always made when you're out! The food there is beyond great! Everything I put in my mouth I fell in love with! Wifi throughout the whole place! (Not many places in Bali have that) This is the most amazing place I have stayed throughout my travels and I will come back to Bali to stay here!

The villas are beautiful and in a peaceful rural setting. We really enjoyed our stay, especially the cycle tour and just walking around the paddy fields and Ubud. The only small criticism is that there are a lot staff around, and although extremely friendly, I did feel as though the villa was not as private as I might've liked. There always seemed to be someone walking by or looking in on you - I felt as though I had to be dressed or curtains closed. We were asked on 2 days if they could do the room service, quite early when we were still in the villa. I am sure most guest go out during the day, so it would be better to wait until later.

Who knew of all the wonderful things, I have done in Bali that taking a morning walk around the rice patties of this property would be my favorite. It was such a lucky idea to chose to stay out of the city center. It is easy to get in and out of Ubud from this villa by the many shuttles. However, if you chose to have a romantic oasis or a playful adventure, everything you need is at the villa. The location is spectacular. It is amazing to see the the stages of rice cultivation and the ducks and frogs cleaning the fields. If you so chose, you'd never have to leave. There is an excellent restaurant, laundry facilities, massages, and a terrifically informed staff. The grounds are immaculate with beautiful swimming pools, fountains, ponds, and fragrant flowers. The Balinese traditions of daily offering are performed and you have all of the traditions of Bali with western amenities. Best of all the staff can help you understand the culture of Bali with wonderful suggestions. We were helped to see the white heron nightly migration. Given advice on places to eat in town. And even better, given insight into the many practices of the Balinese people. My new choice for a honeymoon or actually anything that would bring me back to this country.

We stayed here for four nights for the start of our hoenymoon in the "honeymoon suite"
From the start of the booking process I knew this place was going to be perfect, it was quick and easy and always informative.

We arrived to ubud late at night with a transfer that was pre arranged through the villa and we are glad we did the driver was great and the welcome we got was really nice and a quick check in was perfect. Our first impression was perfection the villa was upstairs over looking the most beautiful view of the rice fields and all you could here was silence at night.

The villa had great big sliding doors you could open up enjoy the breeze and the great surroundings. With all the mod cons tv, dvd, Aircon etc.
The gardens here were always immaculate so was our villa the private pool was gorgeous to relax by. The massages are great too!

The breakfast was always great really enjoyable the toast we loved, we also chose to organise dinner each night in our villa & was never disappointed great food.

The villa is out of Ubud centre which made it so relaxing, the shuttle bus and mobile phone was a fantastic service we loved it easy and quick nothing was ever a problem, we organised a car for the day also and did a full day tour which was great, we really could not thank the staff enough everyone one there was so helpful, happy, friendly it just topped off a perfect honeymoon stay.

If you booked your stay here you would not regret it enjoyed how relaxing it was many thanks to Lauraand everyone at the Villas:)

Fabulous location, excellent design, beautifully built, beautifully maintained and extremely well managed and run - that's Villa Agung Khalia in a nutshell! Our 4 day stay at Villa 1 is an experience that will last a life time. Everything was perfect right from my first inquiry. Owner Laura patiently responded to the minutest of queries.

When we arrived at the villa, we were simply overwhelmed by the surroundings - lush green paddy, water gushing through the irrigation channel. It was mother nature at her best. The spacious villa was spotlessly clean, the private pool - sparkling. The linen, towels all spotless. The villa had all amenities for a luxurious holiday including a well equipped kitchen. Lovely views all around - Mt Agung could be seen from the upper floor balcony early morning, while Sanur coast was visible on the other side. The villas have nicely maintained gardens and its own temple too as is the tradition in all Balinese homes.

Breakfast is served at the restaurant adjacent to the rice fields. Juices, cereal, beverages are kept as self serve items where as the main dish has to be ordered. There was a good choice of the main dishes - eggs to order, bacon, pancakes, jaffles and a couple of Balinese and Indonesian choices too. We had a few vegetarian members in our family and the breakfast menu did have a few vegetarian options too.

What makes this villa stand out is the people who run it. The staff members interact freely with the guests and made us feel completely at home. Agung - the co-owner, Guru - the manager, Nyoman and Made - the drivers who took us around, Nyoman at the restuarant, the gardener and other staff members (my apologies for not remembering their names) worked with smiles on their faces and more importantly worked with a great deal of professionalism and thought. We arrived at Bali at noon and there was chilled bottles of water in the car that came to pick us up. When we visited Besakih temple, Nyoman had packed sarong for each of our member. The villa staff members, most of whom come from the surrounding villages, appeared well trained and seemed to take great pride in keeping up their good reputation.

The villa on its own is great but the effort of the staff adds immense value to the experience. All this made sure that we had a memorable stay at Villa Agung Khalia!
