The hotel was incredible. It was intimate, full of character, comfortable, great facilities (2 sml pools and an excellent spa), location close enough to town you can walk (but there are also free shuttles whenever you want dropped off/picked up) and the friendliest staff. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. We arrived very late (after the kitchens had closed) but they still rustled up something to eat for us. We went on the free rice field walk in the morning which was informative and the hotel organised a couple of other trips for us too. The bungalow we stayed in, with sunken bath and outdoor shower was lovely, with great big canopied comfy bed. This was an ideal part of our honeymoon we very much enjoyed.

With our family with young kids we have stayed in this very pleasant small resort for 3 nights. We felt at home immediately after check in. It is a very quiet place and very pleasant designed. The staff is very friendly and helpful and a few excursions (f.e. risefield walking, visit to art museum) are organised for free. The breakfast is too limited and the rooms or houses don not have wifi, which is quite rare nowadays. The bathrooms could have some modernisation. There is a free shuttle service for around. The free afternoon tea with small snack is also very pleasant. We will not hesitate to recommend this place to others and understand from the hotel management that necessary modernisation will take place the coming months.

We enjoyed Waka Namya and were very happy with our choice to stay here for 5 nights. This was our first trip to Ubud so we can't really compare value for money against other hotels here.

The two pools are both small but pretty. The rooms are located very close to the pools but this did not cause us any problems during our stay. The open-air shower section of the bathroom is huge, and there is no wall between this and the rest of the bathroom so the whole area has a really cool, open feel to it. I worked up a lovely tan on my buttocks whilst in the shower! My oh my what an experience.

Breakfast is served in the upstairs dining room which is decorated with local paintings.

No TV!! Much appreciated.

We asked to have a bath run for us in our room, and prepared with flowers, scented oil, candles, etc. This was not on the spa menu but the staff understood what we were looking for and said they would have it ready for 7:30 when we returned from the day's activities. We were asked if we would like the bath "like honeymoon?" so we agreed "yes, like honeymoon, but not actually honeymoon". Not sure whether this message was fully understood as when we arrived back at the room there was a cake on the bed (which we had not asked for nor had it been mentioned by staff) with HONEYMOON written in icing. Quite humourous, The bath itself was great, surrounded by heaps of candles and frangipani petals everywhere. We should have asked them to make it a warm bath though. Oh well, next time. They went to a lot of effort and didn't charge us for any of it so we were very impressed overall.

Location is good, removed from the Ubud centre which can get pretty busy but still a short walk or very short free shuttle trip to pretty much anywhere in town. Morning walk through the adjacent rice paddies was very scenic, hosted free by the hotel. Some very nice, very cheap restaurants on the same street, and a massage/spa place called Cantika ("chantika") down a little path through the rice paddies only 2 minutes from the hotel which is really worth checking out. All natural, organic products.

Our only criticism of Waka Namya was that the whole place seemed a little bit run-down (except for the bedrooms) but from what I have heard this is pretty standard for these hotels and you get used to is readily enough.

Stayed four nights and loved our little 'home away from home'. Friendly staff, beautiful decor and grounds and nothing too much trouble (even our delayed flight causing us to require a driver late at night - arrived finally at 1am). Excursions we organised through reception were so much fun - excellent affiliates. Breakfast always delicious and lots of choice. You can always pay less for accommodation but you get what you pay for! Spa services are great, pool lovely place to hang out and though they'll shuttle you to town it really isn't that far to stroll with interesting shops on the way. Their sister Ubud hotel, Waka de Ume is also highly recommended.

Room Tip: All are placed around a pool/garden ...each a sanctuary...I doubt any one is better than any other...

The hotel is beautiful. The design is almost perfect. The pool is good and if you had back luck as us and you have a group of kids that are playing a shouting meanwhile you are trying to enjoy the SPA, you always can go to a smaller pool that is more private.
The people that is in the hotel is always trying to help you to find a solution for find a good excursion to do.
The towels are a little bit old. It seems that they don't invest to much in try to renovate the hotel.
The prices for the SPA and the dining is excessive.
The breakfast is good, but take into account that they take time to serve it.
It is an special place to chill out and enjoy the nice area of Ubud.
Wifi works good in all the hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms are bungallows, so they are quite private itself. All the rooms have the shower outside...

This was a lovely hotel with very helpful staff. The pool was absolutely superb Hotel prices were a bit high for spa facitilies and food was on par with more up market cafes. T You can just relax as some rooms don't have TV, so you can ready get away!

Once adjusted the A/C was good and quiet, although staff tend to put it very cool on arrival.

They have a shuttle service to take you into the city any time you want. However, you need to have a mobile phone to contact for return or go to the Tourist Information bureau and they will call for you.

The only down side for me was that the rosters crow starting early in the morning. During the day you tune out, but even with earplugs you could hear them for the early morning wake up call. I like nature, but not at 6 am if I am on holiday.

Room Tip: A little of of town but you can get the shuttle at any time.

We really liked this hotel. There are no TVs, it's away from the centre of town, feels very authentic. Staff were helpful without being over the top. They ensured we had the right information to complete the activities we wanted to do. Ginger martini in the foyer was really lovely, and there's a really nice warung a few doors down. We would happily stay here again. Out door bathrooms and four poster beds were a highlight. Swimming pools were a welcome relief after a day out at the markets in Sukawati. This is not five star, but we weren't after five star and nor did we pay five star prices. The vibe here is very relaxed. Rooms are incredibly comfortable. Bathrooms are huge and the room layout ensures everyone has their privacy. I'd always wanted to stay in a Waka resort and I'm glad I did. Was perfect for 3 friends on holiday.

Room Tip: We had rooms 1, 3 and 6. If you are a light sleeper avoid room 1 as it's by reception (which is...
