Owner description: True Bali Experience is Bali's leading Balinese Owned Adventure Company. An exciting and dynamic family business, True Bali Experience was established in 1995 to provide locally owned and operated soft adventures with the highest international standards of safety, training and conservation. True Bali Experience began as Ayung River Rafting - the island's 1st locally owned rafting company - offers the Ayung River's longest white water adventure, trekking (Rain Forest and village), Cycling in three different location (Carangsari village for Village Cycling, at Kintamani for mountain cycling and at Jatiluwih for Rice Paddy Cycling) In 2001, Bali Horse Riding joined the stable, and with over 20 horses and beautiful beaches to ride them on, became an instant success. We also have convertible 'topless' VW Safaris for you to tour the island on! Check them out on our product pages. In 2004, working with the Government in aid of elephant conservation, Bali Elephant Camp was established to help care for and promote the plight of Sumatran elephants who along with their 'mahouts' (careers) have become ambassadors for their brothers and sisters in Sumatra. Come and ride one today - our friends in conservation say we have some of the healthiest, happiest elephants they've ever seen! In 2013 our new and fascinating within out camp is pod chocolate. Pod Chocolateis a sustainable chocolate maker creating world class chocolate in the heart of Bali. We believe in organic farming and sustainability without compromising taste or luxury and are supporting our farmers to grow organic while working towards fair-trade practices. Pod Chocolate has developed a range of products for retail and commercial use ranging from our signature chocolate bars, pralines & pod bites to chocolate covertures being used in Bali's finest hotels & resorts and a range of tailor made chocolates and amenities. We're excited to be able to offer so many great adventures all in the one location. That's a Bali First! No other company can share so much excitement in one place. And best of all - that place is our own village. Alit Yudha, the company's founder, had a dream to improve the social conditions in the surrounding villages by encouraging tourism. When the company started it had only a handful of people, and now it contributes to employing up to 200 people in and around the beautiful location (not to mention caring for the elephants!). More about where we are... True Bali Experience is just north of the Sangeh Monkey Forest, across the river from Ubud in the village of Carang Sari. It's a scenic drive passing through lots of local life. Our location is perched on the edge of the Ayung River - over 20 hectares of lush fertile grounds including rice paddies, jungles and small plots of cocoa and chilies. The views are amazing - this is definitely one of the most beautiful places in Bali (but don't take our word for it - come and see!). Our reliable and friendly staff will welcome you to our home, and with a long history of experience in adventure, you can be assured of a quality, value for money experience. And because we are a family business, we also know how to look after families. Children are welcome and we can also provide extra care for people with special needs. Thanks for visiting our website. Send us an email if you have any questions. We'd love to help you and can't wait to welcome you to True Bali Experience!

“Great day out”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

Went on our last trip to Bali. Wasn't too expensive, about average compared to similar attractions. We had a cab driver taking us from Tuban, stopping in a few places along the way.

We opted for the longer elephant ride, thought that if we had been driving that far we might as well just do the most of the visit. Got a bit of a sore butt towards the end of the ride tho *lol*. We were lucky as there was not many tourists there as we arrived and we got a lovely elephant with a guide quite quickly. The ride itself was very serene, taking us through a variety of landscapes, stopping for a sip of a coconut water, looking at vast fields and jungle paths. The guide spoke very good English as well.

We got several opportunities to take pictures with the elephant, the guide jumped off and took pics with us on the ride an we got to feed her fruits as well and that was just so fun.

Included in the price was lunch and that one was ok but not crash hot. Standard Bali "trying to accommodate for tourists" kinda meal. Bring your own snacks and water *lol*

There are other animals in the compound, one being a Sun Bear that we got to feed sweet fruits.

All and all it was a lovely day out, would recommend it to anyone :)

“Bali Elephant Camp - A True Balinese Experience!”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

The most magical, spiritual place i have been to in a very long while. This is a fantastic experience being up so close and personal to these magnificent animals. The camp is of a very high standard being peaceful, serene, extremely well looked after and clean and it shows in the happiness of the animals who are residing. You are welcome to stay and play and no feeling of being rushed off so you can take lots of memorable photos with the aid of the lovely staff. The food is amazing, the chocolate tour so informative and a must as is the tasting (of course!) You can even make your own chocolates and take with you (bonus!) The welcome choc drink is out of this world and i cannot wait to return and do it all again. PS : the review of the 17/6, DerriQ, ru sure you dont have your parks mixed up!

“Elephant riding”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

This tour was brilliant; more expensive ($100 AU) than other tours but worth it. The price included pick up and return, a 40 minute elephant ride, a 15 minute elephant show and lunch. The grounds were beautiful.

“A Wonderful Experience - Worth the $$”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Yes, it's a bit pricey (and certainly pricey compared to most other things in Bali), but my boyfriend and I had a fabulous time. The moment you walk up the few stairs to the reception desk, you realize that this company knows what it's doing & takes pride in its work. The staff were very friendly and helpful, lunch was delicious, the chocolate tasting was great, and the gift shop had some interesting things. We took the 70 minute tour with Sen-Sen (sp?) the elephant & her "driver," Ketut, and they were fabulous. Ketut paid close attention to what we were looking at and would bring us closer to anything he thought we could get a better look at. We ended up spending more money there doing "extras" after our tour because we were enjoying ourselves so much!

“Something different”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Riding an elephant is good fun but not very comfortable. We got good advise from our driver not to go for more than the half hour ride. This is perhaps not the best value thing to do in Ubud at $150 AUD for 2 (including lunch) but then elephants do eat a lot :-)
