Sania's House Bungalows

Nice rooms, clean, good beds, breakfast &wifi included. Location is excellent in central Ubud, but still it is very peaceful and quite during the night. Pool is tiny, but you can catch some sun and cool down on a hot day, so it serves the purpose.

When we first arrived to this hotel we were delighted by the architecture, although the family that owns the hotel and lives there didn't even bother to say hello we decided to stay.
In the middle of the night we've been bitten and therefore awaken by bed bugs, a horrible sight indeed ! We ran to the reception and all they had to say was that we could switch to another room, in the middle of the night... but with an extra cost !!!!!! as the other available room was like 4 euros more expensive !! we got really mad, they gave us, I guess, a not yet infested room but we couldn't sleep, of course. When talking to the cleaning guy in the morning it appeared that the owner was fully aware of the situation but doesn't care as long as she rents the rooms even for one night. We've left obviously and had to pay the full price and the employees and owners were very cold, not even saying goodbye ! I just hope that I haven't brought any of those bed bugs with me otherwise I would basically have to burn down everything I've got at home so please don t go there !!!

Room Tip: bed bugs don' t go there no need to say more!!!!

The Hotel itself is very nice especially the architecture. But it seems that the success through LP recommendations made the owners a Bit lazy in terms of cleanliness. At first sight everything looked very nice. The size of the room, the location, the patio in front of the room, the service etc. BUT I cannot give more than a one point rating due to the fact that my bedsheets were dirty and infested by bedbugs. After 3 days I am still fighting with these beasts and if I'm lucky I won't bring them home with me. So unless you're an insect-lover DON'T GO THERE!!! Finally I realized that you can get much better and cleaner rooms for less money if you do a little more research out of your LP.

I love the authenticity of this place, and that it has a pool that makes it easy to meet people. The location is great, close to lots of the places where the night-time cultural dances happen, close to places to eat. The staff was attentive, knew my comings and goings, in a good way. I had a simple room, with a lovely breakfast included, served at whatever time I liked, for about $15 USD. Can't be beat. (The pool could be a little cleaner, but it is a nice, social place.) There are nicer rooms, with prettier art work and furnishings as well.

Have read every review and second everything that has been said. Wonderful stay in a very traditional Balenese family compound. Two extended families living here, with room for all guests.
Right in the middle of Ubud town....the architecture is unbelievably authentic and gardens are stunning. Agree about the pool...cool off but keep your head out of the water..lovely setting.
Just remember...for 35.000aud per night there will be a few things missing....soap...blanket...hair dryer...but you are 30 paces from the markets and you can buy for next to nothing what you need.
Will never stay anywhere else if I have a choice.

Room Tip: Depends on you age and steps. Ground floor for us and good air con.

What a find. What a gem. We will be back!

We stumbled upon Sania's when wandering up a lane looking for another guest house we had earmarked as a possible place to stay. Hubby suggested we pop our head in for a look and ask how much. We are travelling in a party of 3couples - 1 older (in their 60's) 1 younger (in their 20's and resort style people) and 1 couple in 40's (lovers of backpacking).

Sania's suit everyone - the older couple had a ground floor bungalow which looked out to beautiful gardens and the pool. The bungalow had a balcony with day bed and a table with couch & two chairs. Inside their room was of good size, well appointed and very clean. Their only complaint was the bed was firm and they are use to a soft bed.

The younger couple took a room up a small flight of stairs overlooking the pool and bungalow. Once again the room was beautifully appointed, very clean and comfortable and had a large bathroom with bath/shower. Their balcony featured table with 3 chairs and a recliner chair.

The 3rd couple (us) had a 2nd floor room with tree top views (perfect for watching the birds) - our room was brilliant - large, clean & fabulous! Our balcony also featured table with 3 chairs and a recliner chair.

Price for each room 300,000rps ($30aud). incl breakfast and taxes. We stayed 4nights.

Sanias is very close to Monkey Forest Road, the market/palace and walking distance to the best coffee in Ubud - Casa Luna.

The pool was lovely and the gardens - simply stunning! At night the guesthouse is very quiet. The only downside was the chooks are a tad noisy in the morning, but then that's all over Bali !

Breakfast was included and very basic but at least there was a choice - Eggs (a number of different ways), jaffles, banana pancakes. fruit and tea/coffee is given even if you don't order anything. Upon arriving we were given refreshing tea and then every evening and morning there was a thermos of hot tea on the balcony table waiting for us.

We found the staff absolutely lovely and very helpful. Nothing was too much or a bother. Even coming up and clearing a slow flowing basin drain at 10.30at night.

We all absolutely loved Sania's House Bungalows and when we return to Bali, it's definitely on our list as the place to stay when in Ubud.

Stayed here for five nights (were only planning on 3). Traditional Balinese building, beautiful architecture. Each room has a balcony with chairs and a table. Staff are okay, always someone around but not always the most helpful. Walking distance to the heart of Ubud. Mediocre breakfast but its included so we'll take it! Tea/coffee whenever you want. Clean and refreshing pool!!! Not many chairs around it but perfect to cool down after a long hot day in Ubud.

Room Tip: Rooms above street level get a lot more light. Main floor rooms quite dark
