“Away from the noise”
Reviewed May 23, 2014

Our family visited here in May 2014 - my husband and I and four children aged 2, 5, 7 and 9 years old.
This was out second stay in two years at the bungalows. We stayed for one week - with the seventh night being free. Breakfast is included.
It is a 30 min walk to Ubud or a 15 min taxi - $5-6.
It is a great base to explore central Bali. The laundry service is very good.
We ate almost every night here as we had young children to put to bed.
Staff are very helpful and friendly.
Had a massage in the room for only $4!!!
Would come again if back in Bali!

We recently stayed here with our family - children and grandchildren - all 13 of us including a baby. We rented five of their bungalows. After a little hiccup with microwave not working all went well. I can not fault units or the beautiful grounds. The pool is lovely and the hotel has very well stocked library. My son was very impressed at the collection of Little Golden books. There is a toy room for children to play in. The website advertised children's organized activities but staff did not know anything about this when we asked. However our stay was very pleasant and relaxing. It is a good 20 minute walk to the outskirts of Ubud town but the walk is not accessible with a baby stroller. We had to get a driver to go to town but only cost $7 australian. The restaraunt at Klub Kokos was a bit daunted by all our orders on the first night and ran out of some things but coped very well after that. Hotel manager is very friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed everything about Klub Kokos. The walk to Ubud is beautiful and very manageable for kids. It only accommodates a few families so its very peaceful. The gardens are spectacular and the pool a hit. You can also eat if you don't feel like the walk to Ubud.

Room Tip: Ask for the two single storey rooms with linked access at the back of the complex. Quiet, private an...

Picked from Lonely Planet (with help of Google Earth) because of it's distance from Ubud center, we were very content to stay at Club Kokos for a week (20 minutes walking from Ubud center). Sure, it could have been fancier, but it was relaxed, quiet (we were the only residing guests) and comfortable. Staff was omnipresent and helpful in planning excursions etc. We had dinner once in the restaurant and although our question about recommended food (seeing that the menu was extensive and the number of customers so small) was not understood, the four different dishes seemed to be made from scratch and were excellently prepared. The pool was a treat after a long and hot day on the island.

Klub Kokos is in a lovely location along the Campuan Ridge, about 20 minutes walk from Ubud. Its much quieter here than staying in the centre of Ubud and well worth the slight walk. The staff were really friendly and it has a really nice pool and pool area. Our room was spacious although the shower was very temperamental - either cold or scalding! The only slight issue was that we had arranged an airport pick up with the hotel (about $23USD I think) and they were very late - we had to phone them a couple of times and they eventually arrived 1 and a half hours late, by which time we could easily have taken a cab directly there!

Klub Kokos is situated about 2km north of Ubud on the Campuan Ridge. If you don't mind to walk you are close to Ubud if you want to stay close to all the stores and restaurants this isn't the one. We were looking for something small, nice and quiet to stay with our two toddlers away from all the city hustle and bustle. And we loved it. The hotel is situated at the end of a dirt road from Bangkiang Sidem in a rural area in the middle of the rice fields. Along the Campuan Ridge is a decent paved walkway downhill into Ubud (the way back is more of a climb) which will take about 30min to get into the main city centre.

Klub Kokos has seven rooms some of them in one building and some of them bungalowstyle, see more on their website http://www.klubkokos.com/default.htm. The rooms are large enough to hold three beds and a travel cot. Since we were traveling with two toddlers we decided to take our evening meals in the hotel restaurant. The food was always very fresh, plentiful and with lots of veggies. All staff (in the restaurant but also in the kitchen, pool boys and gardeners) were very fond of little kids (as everywhere in Bali) and we never felt too much with our little ones.

The hotel is owned by an Australian woman married to a Balinese man which you tell from the facilities offered. Nice swimmingpool, a large children room with toys, board games etc. and a huge library where you can borrow books! Wonderful. However we got the feeling that the owners are not too much around anymore because although personnel was very friendly they weren't too much on top of everything. No one at the restaurant, dirty towels around the pool, a little too 'tempo doeloe' sometimes.

I would recommend Klub Kokos to people who like to stay somewhere quiet and rural in a good three star quality accommodation. Especially if you like to hike or don't mind taking a taxi now and then. Ubud is getting more and more touristy and full of tourist traps. You can see this in the hotel and accommodation prices (it was the most expensive city/village we stayed in in Bali). Klub Kokos is taking its share in this with high laundry prices and slightly high food prices however the room rates are very decent.

Potentially a great hide out in the middle of the rice fields. But rooms were very dirty and especially the sheets were old fashioned and full of remarkable left overs from previous guests. Staff was OK, but it seems like owners aren't involved anymore. Due to the dirty rooms, we haven't tried the restaurant.
