This is not the first time I eated in Cafe des Artistes but this time was for my birthday and we had a tasted dinner with escargots ( like in France !!!!) and medallion of lamb ( so very well cooked ). The chocolate cake for the birthday was very good too. The service is very good and friendly, absolutely professionnal. This is the 2nd time I eat here and sure not the last.

“Hard to fault”
Reviewed June 20, 2014

Was staying down the road on JL Bisma and didn't feel like walking into the main hub and had passed this earlier in the day. Stopped by at about 8 and was booked solid. Returned a short while afterwards and rewarded with a quiet candlelit table outside. Tuna carpaccio as a shared entree was very tasty. I went on to enjoy butterfish whilst husband loved the ribs. Sauces on both dishes were plentiful and delicious. Bottle of wine was enjoyable although as everywhere in Bali you do pay a premium for it. Hope to return.

“feels like coming home”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

Every time we visit Bali we also visit Ubud and of course Cafe des Artistes. The owner Rudy (former Belgian, now Indonesian) runs a fantastic restaurant. Waiters are friendly and capable to serve well and the atmosphere of the restaurant is romantic. The food is very good (try the escargots or steak with blue cheese!!). Fine wines will accompany your diner and makes it complete.
We are fond of this restaurant and can advise you to try this restaurant.

“A meal to remember”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

Ubud has a wealth of amazing food, but as we were staying just down the road on Jalan Bisma this was a to do dining venue. Intimate, great staff and the welcoming drink was appreciated. It's true that Artistes is well known for its steaks, but we chose from a thoughtful menu to what we felt may be different. The mushroom entree for her and king prawns diablo for him were superb, could not fault. And the sauce of each was plentiful and a perfect accompaniment to each. For mains, the BBQ Pork ribs and Butterfish Tarragon were selected. Where does one start to describe the perfectly cooked and presented dishes. A truly wonderful meal. Australians would know chef Manu , he would give the sauces of both a ten. And plenty. And then came dessert, the rum infused double choc cake with Belgian chocolate. Heaven on a plate really. Pricing is higher than other Bali places, but if compared to what one would pay in Australia this is bargain dining. Entree under $50000 rupiah ($5.00aud) and mains were around $100000 rupiah.
