“Perfect getaway from world”

We recently stayed at Bambu Indah with my partner and we feel lucky having the chance to experience that lifestyle. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and this was our first holiday when we didn't want to leave out Kuno house. It was just perfect sitting and relaxing on the verandah with a magnificent view. We could't stop saying each other how beautiful everything is.
I specially loved the shower, absolutely outstanding.
We had a visitor saying hello time to time, a squirrel:)

Breakfast and food was good, healthy and vegetarian options available however a bit overpriced (AU $10/ glass white wine).
Overall I would recommend to everyone who likes the rustic style and we would definitely return on occasion.

It was a nice time here but expensive and nothing for family's with kids from 0-4years. Also for me the Eco friendly thing is quiet funny every evening the air con is running by the stuff. Nice view nice houses very friendly stuff.

If you search for gold you'll find it. And for those who search a little bit harder, are rewarded.
A short break from the surfing program had this weekend get away simply amazing. The girlfriend was romanced, I was rejuvenated, we were both enlightened on another aspect of Bali and the beauty that is the people, food and environment up in Ubud.

This beautiful rustic and eco resort is a must visit on a trip to Bali. The architecture is amazing from the fabulous main area to the restored original balinese houses. The rope swing into the natural pool followed by breakfast overlooking the wonderful view were a pretty special way to start each day. Make sure you go on the walk/adventure down to the river over the rope bridge (very indiana jones) for another view on paradise. Anne and the staff were wonderful - we did the trip to see John Hardy's green school which was an inspiring new model of how children can learn. Overall a real highlight.

Room Tip: Afrika is amazing but so are any which have a clear view of the valley from their porch

Still the best place in Ubud! Have now stayed in three of the antique bridal homes, and each one is charming. What I wrote a year ago is still true: Bambu Indah is Bali - or at least it is the Bali many of us hope to find. Far from the madding crowds, Bambu Indah rests high on the Sayan Ridge overlooking the Ayung River and green rice paddies below. As soon as you enter the bamboo "lobby," you know you are in a place apart. After your ginger welcoming drink, you are escorted by some of the friendliest people in the world through the black bamboo building to your very own antique Javanese wedding house. Each is unique, and all are furnished with lovely antiques. The beds are cozy in their mosquito nets, the baths are charming with their brass vanity sinks, and each porch has its very own perspective on the Bambu Indah world. Meals are a treat, as is afternoon tea. The organic gardens are beautiful and provide delicious meals. And the chemical-free pool meanders through the greenery in a most enticing way. Add to all of this the fact that the location is perfect, minutes from the center of Ubud but quiet worlds away, and I can't imagine any good reason to saty anywhere else. The wonderful staff makes guests feel as if they have come home. John and Cynthia Hardy have made a dream come true here, and they are most generous to share it with us.

If you want to experience the real beauty of Indonesian nature then this is the place to be. The villas and the surroundings are abselutely gorgeous! We stayed in a closeby resort for the first few nights of our stay and moved to Bambu Inda for the last night and I regret having only stayed there for one night. My friends and I abselutely loved our stay at Bambu Inda and would definitely go back. Comfortable rooms, good food and amaizing staff and management. Definitely a pleasant and unique experience which you will most probably not find elsewhere.

We stayed here for 5 nights and were kindly being upgraded to Afrika room (thank you!). we've had quite an experience, the place is stunning, love the Javanese huts, the staff are lovely and knowledgeable (physical or spiritual ask Anne!) and the view is extensive (although the best view still belongs to Ubud Hanging Gardens). Beautiful hut and very comfy bed and the open bathroom is definitely the feature - the constant view whether you are showering, relaxing in the stunning hand-made copper bath (with the most ingenious tap!), brushing your teeth or even sitting on the Japanese loo. it is definitely on the higher end of eco travelling, all is in the details. whilst the long houses are beautiful, you could asked to have breakfast, tea and/or dinner taken to your room. Love the breakfast - the Balinese breakfast is yummy and so is the granola. Dinner though only 2 choices but are different everyday and they are very tasty. we enjoyed all our meals there. it is definitely a green person's paradise, no plastic bags, no plastic bottles nor straws. the feel good factor is definitely complete here. Being in Sayan, Ubud centre is not far away, they rent a scooter for 5€ a day, and a rather snazzy one at that, we received lots of compliments in town. but remember to dock a few landmarks on the way out to be able to find your way back, we had a little trouble on the way back the first time as it is quite hidden.
OK quibbles - banging music across the valley at night, not exactly having a disco next door but it is loud enough to disturb sleeps at night with those techno beats, apparently there is a cafe double as a sleazy joint called Kodok or something like that. hope they look into it, neighbours in the valley are suffering too.
Privacy? (I guess if you come to stay at an eco resort you would be expected to chuck your preciousness out) we were upgraded to Afrika room, which right in front sits this deck with lounge chairs and a little table and overlooks the extensive view, we have breakfasts here many mornings. BUT whether this deck belongs to Afrika house is rather ambiguous, the website says 'private lounge chairs' so what about the deck and the space? during our stay, there were other guests booking the deck for teas, breakfast and even stroll across to lie on the 'private lounge chairs'. since we were upgraded, we wouldn't be as ungrateful to complain but those who are going to pay for it should double check. the only thing that bother us is, it is rather close to our hut and with the open bathroom (yes it overlooks the deck) it is rather inconvenient for us (showering or sitting on the loo in the morning and or having a bath during the sunset or morning), nor pleasant for other guests (even if they fix their heads to the view, there are still sound). also being the only deck with the view it does encourage rivalry amongst the guests to vie for deck time, it is the only stress inducing thing here. However, there are definitely ample space to extend the deck along the cliff towards other huts, I think this will help kill the rivalry for sure. I hope the management would consider this.
Also if you are thinking of sitting around the pool then this place is not for you, we sat around the verandah most of the time. the eco pool is actually more of a pond or a little stream, they clean it every 3 weeks, unfortunately we were there at the end of the 3 weeks, it was full of algae and dangerously slippery. I often come out covered in a few strands of algae (again no preciousness allowed). so I reckon, cleaning every 2 weeks would be good. I do enjoy swimming with the tadpoles at the end though :)
well there you go, when we first arrived, conditioned by the spanking clean outside world we were feeling rather uncomfortable of such a different environment but this place allows you to get back in touch with what really matters. so if you are looking for a bit of back to 'basic' experience without sacrificing too much comfort, this is the place for you. but I still can't help feeling that this place would still be best by the beach. that would just be absolutely perfect.
Thank you for the experience.
