“Truly a hidden treasure in Ubud,Bali”

If you want a hotel with good location and tranquil environment ( back to nature ), this is the place to stay. Villa is well kept and is of high standard. Very idyllic and intimate and is good for couples. The rice field in front and besides the villas is just so beautiful, even better than the touristic rice terrace in Tagallalang. Food in Villa Semana is excellent - don't miss the roast pork. Another must try is the spa which is uniquely located besides the river with the sound of running water & nature.
Close to Ubud with shuttle service.

Room Tip: If you want more privacy choose a room with private pool. Rooms beside the rice field may have some...

You will be spoiled with the natural beauty of rice fields and breathtaking views of the river below. The staff attended to our every need as did Jorg, the owner. We were assisted in planning our days- tours, spa appointments, dinner recommendations, complimentary transfers to town....
We enjoyed the private pool in the comfort of our beautiful two-story villa as well as the large infinity pool next to the dining area. The only negative is that we had to leave after 3 nights to fly back home! We hope to return soon.

The one word we would chose to sum up our stay experience in Villa Semana is ‘AWSOME’. We were at crossroads deciding where we should be, in Maldives or Bali, and finally decided to stay in SE Asia because Bali has more to offer than just the ocean. We made the right decision.

The hospitality we received was very heart-warming. This made our 20th anniversary celebration very pleasant and memorable. We love the ambience of Villa Semana, it is privately tucked away next to a river and rice fields. Mother Nature became so near and real. In the morning whilst sitting in the lounger by the pool, it was a happy sight to see the many birds circling in and around the towering trees across the river. In the evening, we could hear the laughter of the children bathing in the river. I love mountain biking and cycling and ventured out to the countryside one morning with our trusted guide. It’s beautiful!

The Spa hut is just situated by the same river and one can listen to what the river and forest carries through the wind while the skilled massagers do the works. After relaxing ourselves in the Spa, we were pampered and treated to a very romantic setting; a pool bright red petals, fruits, finger food and champagne. What came next was even more pleasant, we had the most romantic candle light dinner by the pool, under the stars! Instead of going to Ubud Town, we had a sumptuous meal at the Villa. The menu was on personal recommendation by the Villa’s owner.

Our Villa is spacious and comes with a private pool nicely seated under a trellis gardened with creepers. From the this pool, we look down into the river. A good selection of CDs are available to fill our Villa with soothing pieces. Our Villa is kept cosy all the time. So, housekeeping did an excellent job. In the evenings, the room would be nicely lighted, air-conditioning turned on, fresh fruits and night refreshments on the coffee table.

There is a fairly wide array of a la carte breakfast menu and nice ‘home-made’ cakes for afternoon tea. In particular, I am pleasantly surprised that the café staff picked up our likes very quickly. On subsequent visit at the Café, I would be served a saucer of chili padi to go with my order of Babur Ayam and a bowl of ice cubes for my Darjeeling tea. The team of staff are very attentive to our needs.

Our stay in Villa Semana was most enjoyable and we already have plans to return soon for a well-deserved relaxing vacation.

Visiting friends decided to stay near Ubud and Villa Semana was our first choice thanks to the very positive reviews in here and its idillic location.
This is truly the Bali People would want to see and experience. Away from thee Razzmatazz and yet so close to Ubud itself. Great facilities, impeccable services. truly a place to visit, to return and remember always.

Room Tip: The spa is a must experience!

This was our second stay at Villa Semana. It wowed us just like the first time, perhaps even more. The property is just amazingly beautiful and perched over the river and overlooking rice fields. It is such bliss , beauty, tranquility and it is soooo relaxing. Its perfect for couples. The villas are great and super well maintained, very comfortable and have their own private plunge pools. The infinity pool is a great place to relax, swim and watch the local activities at the river bank. Villa Semana now has a shuttle bus service directly to Ubud city center ( 15 m ride ) every hour. It makes it easy to decide if you want to go to town to visit sites, go shopping or try a new restaurant or stay in Villa Semana"s " Paradise " . You can have the best of both worlds at Villa Semana. The staff is very friendly, very attentive. Jurg, the owner , is very helpful in recommending activities and indeed even taking you out on amazing bike rides. We are just so looking forward to visiting again. Its just the best place to de-stress. The spa location down by the river bank is really amazing and the spa staffs are very experienced. It is indeed difficult to say good bye when you leave! We will be back soon!

Room Tip: choose the 2 floor villas

My family and I just came back from our stay in Villa Semana. The stark simplicity of the place just makes you want to forget all about the busy city life. On top of the serenity that you just can't help but feel from your first view of the rice paddies, blissful content follows as soon as you come closer to the villas and hear the music of flowing water. We were fortunate enough to stay in the villa called Cempaka where the stream seems to terminate and where you will get the most fantastic view.
Amidst all the peace and quiet, never anywhere else, (and I have had my share of travelling), have I been treated to such a caring and efficient staff. From the drivers who will shuttle you wherever you desire, to the staff who takes care of the rooms. They make the villas in the mornings and turn down the beds at night too. Twice in one day. A private pool inside the villa and the food was excellent too. Our host Mr. Jurg with such an interesting persona added character to the place. He made sure we made full use of our stay there.
Triple thumbs up and a must do again and again.

Room Tip: Cempaka has a great view.

My partner and I had an excellent 4 night stay in Villa Semana. The setting is beautiful, right in amongst rice paddies. The food was exceptional given the simplicity of the dishes. I fell in love with all of the local specialties that the cook put together (didn't even look at the western menu as the local stuff was just so great!). The owner was there when we stayed and he was very friendly and even took me on a huge bike ride around the area, through paddies, through Ubud, through small villages, shared interesting facts about the place…such a great experience. The location of the Spa in this villa was so beautiful, right down next to the little river and the quality of the services we received there was high (pedicure, massage, facial, etc..). I think we stayed in one of the garden villas…which were nice, but nothing spectacular given the price of the accommodation, but I'm probably comparing this to the size and quality of villa you would get somewhere like Seminyak, which is probably not a fair comparison.

Overall though, the experience was excellent I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice Villa in the Ubud area.
