These guys really deliver the goods, on professionalism, service, and price.
Kiteboarding has been a dream I've had for many years, but kids and work commitments meant I had to wait. Finally I made the decision ... but ... the Wind Gods were against me. I spent a couple of months trying to book kiteboarding classes back home (in Hong Kong) and was constantly frustrated by light winds. Then, we booked a week holiday in Bali, and I checked the weather: bingo! Steady winds of 10-15 knots, perfect.
I found a couple of alternatives for kiteboarding in Bali, but these guys seemed the most professional. An email was ignored. But my phone call was answered and we booked a course.
Having studied many youtube videos about kiteboarding lessons, I was expecting a long slow process of incremental exercises. But Kadek and his team take a very different approach. With three instructors helping me, I was in the water after a very efficient shore-based briefing and kite-flying test.
That's right, three instructors to one student. We went out to deep water in a speedboat, One guy drove the boat, one instructed me from the boat, and a third guy jumped in the water next to me to help sort out problems. By the end of an hour I'd stood up (several times, for up to 5 seconds!!) and I was ready for the next step. For me that meant an hour of wakeboarding, to sort out my footwork and balance (I've not done wakeboarding in the past), and the following day I was ready for more. Two more hours advanced me through Level 2 and 3, doing water starts and launches. I was able to do some very fast runs, in both directions, and I've definitely got the bug now.
The team were all very friendly, and extremely helpful. Their instruction was very much on target, and when I did as I was told I quickly mastered each incremental challenge. Most important I felt very safe throughout.
If you look at the prices, you may find it looks expensive... Certainly if you look in terms of $ per hour it is ... but if you calculate $ to learn, it's actually much cheaper than the traditional IKO classes because you spend all your time on the water and learn so much faster. That's definitely a win/win.
If I had more time in Bali I'd be back there tomorrow ... but unfortunately we have a flight to catch ...
