We often stay in Sanur Bali, generally in cheap B&B. We thought we might go up market a touch. The Swastika is opposite Billie's Restaurant my preferred choice but my wife likes a bit of comfort so the Swastika it was. We stayed for 3 weeks! Billy was a bit upset when we told him where we were but confirmed it was a good choice. A real English breakfast is something we do at home and weren't disappointed. Room comfortable, staff kind and attentive, nice to have a cold beer on the patio and watch the monkeys scrambling over the palms. Close to Hardy's the local dept store and 5 minutes at most to the beach if that's what you want. Sanur is a lovely place to stay, much better than Kuta where most of the drunks and spivs stay. Plus the locals do not hassle you but they do love to haggle so don't be afraid. I spent 20 minutes haggling over a taxi fare, saved all of 11p and the driver said he enjoyed the trade. Me too!

Room Tip: To the rear of the gardens away from the street noise.

Good location and near to beach. We had taken 2 rooms to accommodate six adults with 3 in each room. The rooms were comfortable and they provided one extra bed in each room. They had baby pool and regular pool as well. Nice breakfast with lot of varieties. We stayed here for 5 nights. Also on walking distance about 20-25 minutes in Indian restaurant as well if you want to try.

We stayed at Swastika Bungalows both before and after a cruise and recommend the hotel for its friendly staff, quiet surroundings, inviting pools, convenient location, and lush, tropical gardens. Very good value.

We booked into the Swastika Bungalows with some Trepidation. The old part is very old and in need of desperate renovations but the new Duluxe rooms are really great. So great that we had only booked in for 7 nights left to go to another location in Mas which we did not like and came back to the Swastika.
The staff are helpful, friendly and the new pool is really very good. The new rooms are quite large and set out well. The bathroom is excellent. Unfortunately their breakfast lets them down considering the price for the deluxe rooms and needs cleaning up and some drastic changes. We had breakfast elsewhere after the first night.
Overall we loved it and will go back, unfortunately it has a bar in the new pool which does create a lot of noise.
Excellent location to other restaurants.

Another holiday has come and gone - and what a great time we had - it's a pity it's over. We could have done with another couple of weeks!! We are now looking forward to our stay at the Swastika in 2013. Everyone at the hotel was so friendly - Widhi and the reception staff, Iluh - the room lady, the Swastika drivers and security guards, and even my main man - Dino, the gardener - they all had a cheery word and a smile. The breakfast (which is included in the room rate) was substantial and the eggs were freshly cooked; the rooms were large and although a little Spartan, were clean and comfortable; the air-conditioning worked efficiently, and the laundry was same-day service and very modestly priced. The location could not be better - a short walk to the huge Hardy's Supermarket, an honest money changer in the Circle K store just around the corner, more restaurants than you can poke a stick at - even one that gives you 20% off the food cost, all within easy walking distance.
My wife and I are already counting the sleeps to when we go away in 2013.

We loved it. Our family of four stayed in standard rooms in April.
The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. The hotel is of the older Balinese bungalow style, set in lush gardens with paths leading in between to rooms and pools.Although the rooms are a little dated they are very comfortable, clean and big. They have everything one needs, fridge, telephone, free WiFi,shower and bath. Staff even come by in the evening to turn back the bed and spray for mossies, great service.
There are 3 pools now. The newest being the biggest and now with a swim up bar and small area for eating bar snacks our teenage boy loved it..Guests are welcome to use all pools.None were ever overcrowded whilst we were there.
Breakfast was served in the upstairs restaurant overlooking gardens and pool. There was a good selection of fruit, Danish pastries, toast, pancakes, bacon, sausages, eggs cooked any style, noodles, Asian porridge and rice.Tea,coffee and juice.Plenty for everyone to choose something.Just remember to say exactly how you like your eggs cooked or they can be a little overcooked(once I explained I like them soft, they were perfect every day).
There are also two restaurants linked with the hotel outside the hotel complex, that offer 20% discount,we never made it to these, but we are returning to Swastika Bungalows in October,so we plan to on this visit.
I also visited the spa and had a full body massage and pedicure the service was fantastic and the massage so relaxing, again staff lovely. The actual spa is only small and a little run down, but still great value for money.
Swastika Bungalows is a budget hotel that offers a higher standard of service than this implies. It is definitely value for money at $48 AUS a room per night. We recommend this to anyone wanting a relaxing, quiet, friendly hotel that is hidden from the main street, but within easy walking(or high a bicycle, great way to get around)distance of the beach, markets, numerous restaurants and Hardys supermarket.
Look forward to returning and being spoilt again in October.
