“great guide for mount agung”
Review of Gung Bawa Trekking

Gung Bawa Trekking
Reviewed October 18, 2013

i climbed mount Agung with a friend and Gung was our guide. we were togheter with other 3 people.
the service is very good, they come pick you up at your home or hotel late in the night around 11 or 12 depend on your location and they bring you back in the afternoon the next day.
During the hike Gung was really good in keeping us motivate and he always had snaks and some inspirational thoughts for the stops. he got us there for the sunrise.
The view from the summit is amazing! At the top Gung makes banana pancakes and a nice hot drink which was excellent. All the other tour company groups at the top looked at us in envy!
Going down is more challenging but even when we were complained or about to give up he always kept a good attitude.

Be awere that the hike is really difficult, do not try to do it without a guide, and prepare yourself for an intense experience. it's not for everyone, you need to be in good physical shape and an expert hiker. Believe the reviews that say you're basically rock climbing for the last hour or so.

Said so it was an amazing experience! defenitly raccomended if you like a challenge!

My husband and I went up Mt Agung on the 1st August 2013, we went on the southern approach which is considered the easier approach. Gung Bawa was very prompt at replying to emails to make arrangements. We were picked up promptly from our hotel in Sanur at 11pm however Gung and his driver had done a trek the night before so were very tired and the fact the driver was tired was a little worrying at times. We consider ourselves fit and do a lot of hill walking at home but be prepared for rough steep terrain and a scrabble at times. My husband really wasn't well throughout the walk but Gung Bawa was very patient and supportive. He even used his healing/positive thoughts to make him feel better. There were two other people on our tour they seemed to find the trek difficult too and didn't have walking boots on, which we found invaluable. Oh and the walking pole was much needed. The view from the top is amazing! Not to be missed. At the top Gung makes pancakes and a nice hot drink which was excellent. All the other tour company groups at the top looked at us in envy! Definitely recommend using Gung Bawa's company and definitely recommend the hike itself although make sure you feel fit and are well before you set off
