Sativa Sanur Cottages
Ranked #42 of 78 Hotels in Sanur
Reviewed March 29, 2013

This was our first time staying in Sanur. We went for the Sativa Cottages after reading good reviews on trip advisor, also as this was a last minute trip to Bali we decided to go for a more budget property than we normally would. I also chose the Sativa over another budget property I had contacted, due to the polite response over the phone and quick replies we received to our emails. ( One of the properties i contacted the Australian owner actually rudely answerd the phone and then hung up on me when I asked if he could hear me ok ) I was pleasantly suprised by the Sativa. Whilst it could do with a bit of TLC in some areas on the whole it was clean, tidy, and the staff were very welcoming. Our room was upstairs which I think I preferred over downstairs rooms. We were 2 adults and 2 young children, they allowed us all in the 1 room with 2 rollaway beds and there was more than adequate room for us all. Had our stay been longer than 3 nights I probably would have preferred more space. The bathroom was fine, yes the grout was a bit ageing and not sparkling but it was clean and thats all you need.
Pool area was good, and the food and drink prices were great, Breakfast met our needs, usual egg station, pancakes, fruit, noodles, toast. More than enough and when it was included in the $70 a night price I really cant complain.
Massage prices were good at 100,000 rph for an hour and a half
We were the only australian guests staying, everyone else seemed to be Dutch or German and there were no other families with kids there so that was the only downside for us as no one for our kids to play with. Again as we were only there 3 nights it didnt really matter too much
I'd probably stay in a different part of Sanur next time, as for me this was just a little too far from the beach area, but taxis were cheap and easy to get. But I would definitely recommend the Sativa for those wanting a reasonably priced hotel offering peace and quiet

Room Tip: We chose upstairs as they had a bit of a breeze (when there was one) and overlooked the whole pool a...

Spent 4 nights at the sativa and again was very good. Its the second time we have stayed at this hotel and found the staff really friendly, rooms are big and clean and has a great pool. The breakfast was a little boring needed a little more. Nice location at the sth end of sanur.

Room Tip: The beds are rock hard. Massimos is a must great food!!!!

This is the fifth time we have stayed at Sativa and we were once again very pleased with the accomodation and service provided. We noticed improvements like a swim up bar in operation, happy hour drinks, extra sunbeds and umbrellas and we were told by the manager that flat screen TVs are soon to be purchased for the rooms. Sativa is not 5 star but neither is the price and we always find our stay to be relaxing with good service, an excellent pool and clean rooms. What more could you ask for.

Nice setting, cottages around a beautiful pool. Close enouth for the beach and local shops. The staff were attentive and kept the place clean. It provided a sumptious beakfast but it would be better if smoking at the tables was not allowed. Good value for a holiday in Bali.

Room Tip: choose a downstairs room if you have a bike or a buggie to contend with.

I have visited Bali over ten times over the past ten years. Each time we have stayed at the Sativa Sanur Cottages. The entire hotel is beautiful, and the staff make it even more so. We are remembered with each visit, and everything is so well run. For the price, it is exceptional. I plan to visit many more times over my life, and intend on staying here each time. Thank you Sativa Sanur!

A little run down, rooms are shabby. Not on the beach. Takes 10 mins to walk to beach. Wanted to use the pool but too many older men sitting at pool bar for a long time and no one got out of pool to go to toilet. A familiar story with pool bars everywhere I know, but parents of youngsters may want to be aware of this practice. Staff were very friendly and worked hard.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are supposed to be slightly bigger.

We enjoyed our 7 night stay here with our Family for the celebration of our 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary late November 2012. All 16 of us had a great time with the attentive and caring staff. You can tell the Saff have been here for several years and warmly greet returning guests as 'long-los friends'.
The Pool serves as the focal point with many of the European Guests enjoying their day by the pool reading and relaxing ... only too happy to get away from their northern winter cold.
Rooms are comfortable but in need of some upgrade in facilities.
Breakfast is ample but there should be some designated 'Smoking' or 'Non-Smoking' areas in the Restaurant.
The Sativa location in Sanur is ideal. There is a 'village type' feel about Sanur with a relaxing unhurried pace of life.. You don't get hassled in the Sanur Shops unlike Kuta. And restaurants are plentiful too. The Sanur Beach Pavemnt Walk in the evenings is delightful with a wide range of restaurants to tempt you for sunset cocktails & dinner..
Looking forward to a relaxing return stay at Sativa Sanur soon!

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms highly recomended
