Very-very-very old hotel. Old is everything - old faucets with poor pressure, old bed with swinging bed head and so one.

The welcome fruit plate was looking like mockery - 3 APPELS!!! As a welcome drink actually... Bravo, very hospitality!

We were choosing this hotel relying on photos in booking.com where rooms look very big and light. In real you can use only half of room, another half what looks like a living room on the photo actually is a balcony that you cannot use - it’s to hot there. So the room becomes very small. And dark, cuz of bars on the window and not so high ceiling in the room, so it’s looks like cove.

Poor lights variants in the room. In fact no nightlight.

And all feeling from hotel that nobody cares about it long time ago. Dust, decorative pools with mud, dirty beach, hotel looks neglected :(

So what I can say - in this condition it’s overpriced! For 4 times. Only name left here of worlds famous hotel chain “Firemont”. We have stayed in Hyatt Sanur - it’s new and for sure more recommended to stay.

Dear Morgusha_lady
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments on TripAdvisor following your recent stay; I was most concerned to read you feedback following your stay.
I was most disappointed that we failed to extend the high standards of service, attention to detail expected by our guests. Please accept my assurance that I have discussed your comments in detail with my management team to ensure that our usual high product standards are restored, faultlessly maintained and delivered in future.
We are constantly investing in all areas of the hotel and have a comprehensive program to ensure all our rooms are of the highest standard to meet the expectations of our guests and I am most sorry that this was not the case on this occasion. The hotel is not old and is in fact only 8 years old. The balcony area is indeed open on the ocean side and can become warm during the daytime, we do have a sun-blind as well as a ceiling fan than assists in cooling the area. All the lights are dim-able and can also be increased in intensity, below the bedside lights is the nightlight switch and it is marked as such, I am sorry that this may not have been clear to you in your suite.
I hope I will have the pleasure of meeting you and welcoming you back to Fairmont Sanur Beach Bali in the not too distant future but, in the meantime and with renewed apologies, I remain.
Kind Regards

Wow!. This hotel is really the best Accor property in Bali. Amazing staff making your stay feel very special adds to the beautiful rooms and facilities. Having been to Bali for over 40 times over a period of 45 years staying in various hotels I am very impressed with the Fairmont. Didi at Breakfast always had a huge smile welcoming us with perfect English with our coffees and juices which he had remembered from the first day's order. The breakfast is truly delightful as fresh fruit is presented beautifully along with turmeric drinks and fresh juices such as carrot, dragonfruit and pineapple juices. We really appreciated the healthy options at the buffet with 3 different yoghurts to accompany the nuts and grains. The usual hot food was also superb with coffees and pastries of all sorts, waffles and pancakes completing the choice for breakfasts. Asian food and fresh salads with cheeses means everyone at breakfast can find exactly what they are after.
Now for the rooms. One word ... huge.
The additional verandah with Raffles styled fans provides a wonderful space to relax as the daybed is filled with cushions for comfort. The over sized king bed is extremely comfortable with a pillow menu providing for a fantastic sleep. The bathroom is also enormous with double sinks, separate toilet area and very pleasant bathroom products which allow the rooms to have a lovely scent. Upon walking into our suite I was always hit with a fresh floral fragrance like in high end hotels.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont. There is a lot to like but we do think that the room price is too high for the overall package. You pay a premium because the resort is large but only has app 100 rooms plus the villas.
The pros
Service is immaculate.
The rooms are huge
Cleaning standards and similar are high
Gardens are delightful
Food and beverage, especially Pier8 are very good to occasionally being exceptional
Location Is excellent, on the beach not too far to main road and with many good restaurants only a stroll away

Cons, why we rated 4 not 5
Although the room is huge, there is little in it.
No couch or chairs in the main bedroom, you have to got to large balcony area for that and often very hot there as no ac
The rooms though well maintained are showing there age.
Ie not enough light, over use of dark tones.
The rooms need a refurb / re decoration if they want to charge these prices
The pool area is nice, plenty of lounges if you are happy to fry!
This is because the sun umbrellas are too high, not wide enough and can’t be shifted as the sun shifts. So the 8 or so that do give shade we’re at a premium.
The pool was beautiful for the first 4 days. On our last 3 days it became murky and water was not pleasant looking. Off putting.
The horrible pink V.....a flower thing at the pool has to go. May have had a reason when they opened but it is horrendous and detracts from the view.

Ps the breakfast is excellent, we especially liked the ala carte drinks and food items.

Overall though we would more than happily return, but only if we get a sale price because the usual room costs are more than
What we think are fair for the overall determination of value.

Dear dbfun48

We are delighted to hear such positive feedback and we are very grateful to read your wonderful review of our property & engaged team.

The bronze sculpture, which you refer to, is by English artist Marc Quinn. The sculpture is based upon a naturalistic Phalaenopsis , a genus of the orchid family, which has been modelled in exquisite detail. The fine pink petals, each distinguished by unique venation, defy the properties of the bronze medium in which they are cast, appearing almost weightless and ethereal. On an immense scale the delicate petals take on an ominous presence, resembling the wings of the Phalaena moth from which the flower takes its name.
We look forward to welcome back, once again, to Fairmont Sanur Beach, Bali in the near future.
Thank you for allowing us to turn your moments into memories.

We were off to a good start with an upgrade from our mid sized room to a suite. However the room was quite dark (as others have noted) and felt under-furnished - there was just so much empty space. Huge tub was a plus, and we had a lovely meal on our semi-enclosed terrace.

The biggest disappointment was that this was simply not the relaxing luxury experience you expect from a Fairmont. It started with music from the beachfront restaurant on the first evening that could be heard in the rooms, then at 8am the next day with music pounding out from the breakfast area across the hotel (so much for sleeping in!), followed by children screaming and playing ball games in the main pool, other guests watching videos by the pool with sound at full volume, and finally the neighbours who decided to party until security was called (twice) at 1am! I accept that it can be hard to control the behaviour of guests, but the other noise issues were completely within the hotel’s control and made for a very uncomfortable stay.

Room tip: Be prepared for a long walk from reception and the restaurant to almost all rooms.

Dear Chad D
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your vacation at the Fairmont Sanur Beach, Bali.
My most sincere apologies for the noise disturbances that you encountered during your stay. I have subsequently discussed your feedback with our Food & Beverage Director to get his input on your comments. We employ a three piece band to perform in Pier Eight (on the beach) three times a week, however their contemporary music can certainly not be heard in the hotel rooms during their performance. The music is considered to be light background music and has never been raised as a concern; up until your comment. Similarly the music played at breakfast is also low volume, light background and is appropriately chosen for this time of the day, it certainly is not ‘pounding out from the breakfast area across the hotel ’ as you have suggested. We do have live gamalang music on Fridays, which guests enjoy as an authentically local touch. We are a family friendly hotel and occasionally children can be over excited whilst enjoying themselves in the swimming pools, I apologize that their over-zealous enjoyment of the facilities detracted from your desire for a peaceful and quiet experience on this occasion. Thank you, however, for bringing your feedback to my attention, we will continue to endeavor to be as considerate as possible at all time when it comes to our music in the hotel.
We look forward to welcome you back, once again, to Fairmont Sanur Beach, Bali in the near future.
Kind Regards

Our 5 night stay at the Fairmont in Sanur came at the end of a 15 night stay in Bali. Previous destinations were Ubud and Seminyak. After the craziness of Seminyak we were delighted to escape to Sanur (first visit for us). We had a wonderful 5 days.

Highlights:
- staff. Beautiful team we met daily. Special call out to Esa in Pier 8 who went above and beyond to accommodate our children. They were simply blown away by his kindness and went back the day after to thank him
- infinity pool & double/family sun loungers - we loved the pool area and spent many many happy hours there. Very comfortable
- kids club - our 7 yo went there daily & loved it. Very well stocked
- breakfast buffet - loved the touch of the extra a la carte offerings. We all enjoyed this
- proximity to Sanur, the beach and other great restaurants (recommend Soul on the Beach & Soul in a Bowl)
- very well equipped gym & daily morning yoga
- beautiful spa - therapists were wonderful, we enjoyed several world class massages

Yes the resort is tired in some places, but that doesn’t compared to the warmth of the welcome and quality of the food and pool area. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!
