DM & MM stayed from the 6/3/14 to 14/3/14
My partner and I had booked an eleven day stay in Sanur Bali. We booked the entire stay at the Puri Santrain Hotel which is apparently a four star hotel! While the hotel was nice they had the beds from hell and after the first night we had to be moved to what they considered a room with a softer bed. It wasn’t! We bared this for another two nights but on the third morning I could hardly walk my back was so bad. (neither of us suffer with back problems normally) when we spoke to the staff about this we were meet with a very blunt and negative response so we informed them that if they could not find us a more conducive bed we would find alternative accommodation. They were not bothered so that’s exactly what did and even though we spoke to them around 11.00 am, they still wanted to try and charge us for an extra day as it has just gone mid day before we checked out.
A piece of heaven found.
We had seen the Regent previously while walking around the area so decided to take a look, as we entered the reception we were meet by a couple of the hotel reception staff and right away the whole attitude was completely different. We explained to them that we were staying at another hotel and the problems we encountered, and they could not understand why the previous hotel had not tried to find a solution to the problem? We asked would it be possible to see the room and they were delighted to do so. The regent is less than a year old and we were there in Bali’s low season (very quiet) we were taken to a room on the second floor, and I think the best word to describe it would be beautiful. Each room has a very large excellently appointed bathroom with top end toiletry products, and large bath, rain shower and separate toilet with built in beady. The bedroom was very large with a king size bed pillows of different firmness, desk with built in plugs that took every type of plug imaginable a very handy array of stationary. An Ipod docking station that was linked to a Bose speaker system. There is also a large flat screen TV in this area. In Addition there is what they call the outside area. This has another large flat screen TV mini bar (all soft drinks are free) draws under the mini bar which have an array of wine glasses and tumblers, filter coffees and teas, kettle, tea pot and cafeteria for the coffee, and other useful items. There is a very long comfortable settee which runs the whole length of the window, which also has an electric screen for the evenings, they also supply mosquito burners which is another nice touch.
Although this hotel was more expensive that the previous you get what you pay for, we would find it hard to find a single fault with the hotel and staff. There is a butler available 24 hours a day anything you need he will sort it for you. The bedding is changed daily as are the towels and they turned down the beds and left small packets of homemade cookies each evening and again checked the towels. We were given a room on the third floor which had beautiful views over the garden area and a lovely see view too. The pool area is magnificent with views that looked out on to the sea and nearby islands. The Pool area was kept spotless and when you arrived in the area they would come up and put the towels on the bed for you, then bring you a glass of cold iced water and a cold towel to wipe your face. The sun beds were excellent very comfortable and more than enough not to have to worry about getting down early to reserve one.
The Food at the hotel was excellent too, breakfast was something to look forward to with more than enough choice for even the most discerning pallet. Coffee and tea was made fresh to order and brought to the table for you, as were any of the items on the breakfast menu.
If we had to give any negative feedback about the hotel it would only be the lack of draw space in the rooms. There is more than enough hanging space but only four small draws which if you are staying for a couple of weeks could leave your clothes getting a bit messy
As an overall rating for this hotel we would give it a 9.9
