DM & MM stayed from the 6/3/14 to 14/3/14

My partner and I had booked an eleven day stay in Sanur Bali. We booked the entire stay at the Puri Santrain Hotel which is apparently a four star hotel! While the hotel was nice they had the beds from hell and after the first night we had to be moved to what they considered a room with a softer bed. It wasn’t! We bared this for another two nights but on the third morning I could hardly walk my back was so bad. (neither of us suffer with back problems normally) when we spoke to the staff about this we were meet with a very blunt and negative response so we informed them that if they could not find us a more conducive bed we would find alternative accommodation. They were not bothered so that’s exactly what did and even though we spoke to them around 11.00 am, they still wanted to try and charge us for an extra day as it has just gone mid day before we checked out.

A piece of heaven found.

We had seen the Regent previously while walking around the area so decided to take a look, as we entered the reception we were meet by a couple of the hotel reception staff and right away the whole attitude was completely different. We explained to them that we were staying at another hotel and the problems we encountered, and they could not understand why the previous hotel had not tried to find a solution to the problem? We asked would it be possible to see the room and they were delighted to do so. The regent is less than a year old and we were there in Bali’s low season (very quiet) we were taken to a room on the second floor, and I think the best word to describe it would be beautiful. Each room has a very large excellently appointed bathroom with top end toiletry products, and large bath, rain shower and separate toilet with built in beady. The bedroom was very large with a king size bed pillows of different firmness, desk with built in plugs that took every type of plug imaginable a very handy array of stationary. An Ipod docking station that was linked to a Bose speaker system. There is also a large flat screen TV in this area. In Addition there is what they call the outside area. This has another large flat screen TV mini bar (all soft drinks are free) draws under the mini bar which have an array of wine glasses and tumblers, filter coffees and teas, kettle, tea pot and cafeteria for the coffee, and other useful items. There is a very long comfortable settee which runs the whole length of the window, which also has an electric screen for the evenings, they also supply mosquito burners which is another nice touch.

Although this hotel was more expensive that the previous you get what you pay for, we would find it hard to find a single fault with the hotel and staff. There is a butler available 24 hours a day anything you need he will sort it for you. The bedding is changed daily as are the towels and they turned down the beds and left small packets of homemade cookies each evening and again checked the towels. We were given a room on the third floor which had beautiful views over the garden area and a lovely see view too. The pool area is magnificent with views that looked out on to the sea and nearby islands. The Pool area was kept spotless and when you arrived in the area they would come up and put the towels on the bed for you, then bring you a glass of cold iced water and a cold towel to wipe your face. The sun beds were excellent very comfortable and more than enough not to have to worry about getting down early to reserve one.

The Food at the hotel was excellent too, breakfast was something to look forward to with more than enough choice for even the most discerning pallet. Coffee and tea was made fresh to order and brought to the table for you, as were any of the items on the breakfast menu.

If we had to give any negative feedback about the hotel it would only be the lack of draw space in the rooms. There is more than enough hanging space but only four small draws which if you are staying for a couple of weeks could leave your clothes getting a bit messy

As an overall rating for this hotel we would give it a 9.9

Room Tip: The Free bikes provided are a great way to explore the entire length of the cycle trail.

I was travelling with husband and 2 kids, aged 8 & 10. We were staying in deluxe ocean suite. Will list down the pros and cons

Pros
The resort is quite well designed in terms of lush landscaping and understated interiors. Very compact layout, so no long walking.
Room layout is good, very spacious, maximise views out, can catch sunrise every morning from your bed. Room consist of a air on and a generous non aircon terrace.
Nice infinity pool with a good length for laps.
Very attentive and friendly staffs
Nicely designed kids club
Spa treatment is one of a kind, very good technique and therapists and reasonably priced compared to many other international chained hotels.
Plenty of deck chairs at the beach front and staffs serve ice water there too.

Cons
The pool and do better by installing some water jets or jacuzzi at its shaded areas at the ends of the lap. Otherwise the areas under the pergolas are fantastic for resting and soaking in the pool.
The kids club is very well equipped with games and toys but most of the discs for the electronic games were not working on the first day we arrived. That made the kids very disappointed. The resort however tried to replace the discs immediately after my feedback, which makes up for it.
The resort is not large, thus they kind of serve a semi buffet breakfast. That kind of makes the variety of food quite limited especially like us who are staying for 5 days 4 nights... The kids find the food choices limited.

Other than the few shortcomings mentioned, the Regent is generally a very pleasant, well run resort suitable for couples here for quiet time together and families too!

Room Tip: Choose the ocean deluxe rooms located on 4th floor, middle block so get frontal view of the sunrise.

The Regent is a beautiful and very tranquil resort. We booked a garden view suite for a short Honeymoon break for 8 nights for our first trip to Bali. Our suite was massive and very clean. We were thrilled with the surprises waiting for us in our room on arrival. All staff were very friendly , remembered us by name and nothing was too much trouble. The pool and gardens are magnificent , and the rooms very clean and spacious.Breakfast was included and very nice. The resort seemed mostly empty of guests.
We used the hotel airport transfer service and were quite annoyed to find we were expected to tip a man that had grabbed one piece of our luggage and did not actually work for the Regent. Even though two hotel staff had greeted us and traveled in the car with us, some random carried the bag while we were escorted off to the car. This random man then insisted on being tipped before he would let my husband shut the car door.

Having stayed in many five star resorts throughout Asia, we were both totally shocked at the prices being charged for meals and drinks throughout the bars and restaurants. Dinner on the first night at the pool bar and grill was over priced and very over rated. Charging 2-3 times more than other fine dining restaurants within walking distance is ridiculous when guests are already paying a premium for accommodation. We would have liked to have spent the majority of our time in the resort but unfortunately even drinking by the pool very expensive.

I loved every minute I was at the Regent. Not only were the rooms, grounds, pool, restaurants lovely down to the last detail, but the service was prompt and thorough. I loved little touches - like the sliding glass doors in my suite controlled the ac - so incredibly convenient. Even when face down getting my amazing 75 minute massage, instead of staring at the floor, I looked at a lovely little zen sand garden. They had thought of everything. I would go back in a heartbeat.

The Regent Bali is a wonderful find after returning to Bali from a 10 year absence.
It has all the style of a superior hotel with none of the attitude. The stress just melts away as you enter the open air lobby. Then you see the extensive gardens and you know your on holidays.

The resort features extensive water features everywhere, but our room on the 4th floor had the most wonderful view of the sea. The lounge area doubles as a patio with overhead fans. It does get a little hot so retiring into the air-conditioned bedroom provided respite.
The bathrooms are huge with a free-standing bathtub and separate walk-in rain shower, all very indulgent and spa-like.

At night the very private gardens and waterfalls are bathed in extensive lighting and burning flame all adding to the magic.
The facilities are all top notch. We used both restaurants and could not fault the staff. Their professionalism combined with a genuine warmth made every encounter a pleasure. The menu whilst not extensive had a good mix of Indonesian and International dishes.
The lobby lounge is open-air with views of the ocean, the only disappointment being the cocktails offered for happy hour.

The beachfront is small and shares with some boats but as the infinity pool with views of the Lombok sea is a real treat this wasn't a negative. In fact a few minutes walk and the expansive Sanur beach is located nearby.
A lovely path along the waterfront is popular with its sea breezes and many small restaurants. With many of the neighbouring resorts guest using it, it always feels safe and inviting.
A real find was the Sanur Bay beachside restaurant right next door, turning left at the beach entrance. Though quiet we found the food and service excellent, with plenty to pick from on the menu at tiny prices. We returned a few times when we realised they help the local community in Sanur.

In summing up, I can highly recommend the Regent Bali. We felt like royalty, and after our holiday were adamant Bali and it's people would feature in one of our next holidays.

The swimming pool, gardens and location right on the beach are superb and the service was excellent throughout. However, there is a ridiculous focus on artwork to the extent that the basic needs of a tourist in a hotel room are ignored. There was no drawer space to put clothes in a large room, but plenty of space for concrete columns displaying plants, flowers, pictures and sculptures, and no bedside tables to put a clock, torch, book, etc on. And then there were the two sinks in the bathroom, also perched on top of concrete pillars, which splashed water everywhere as soon as you turned on the tap. There was a beautiful 50metre pool spoiled by the lack of rest rooms anywhere close by, not even on the same level. The architect has obviously never stayed in a hotel room for any length of time and so he forgot about practicality completely. In short, the hotel was lovely to look at but totally impractical in every way.

Room Tip: I think that all the rooms have a view overlooking the gardens, pool and ocean, so nothing needs to...

AMAZING experience stayed at Regent Bali, All you need is in one place. You don't have to go outside of the hotel area since you can enjoy yourself and time flies by very fast, I can assure you that one.
We stayed at the smallest suite but it is NOT small at all... The room is HUGE!!!, infinity pool, free minibar that they refresh daily, delicious food, amazing live band entertainment and the massages and treatments at the Spa is HEAVENLY!!!. They provided the relaxing atmosphere while enjoying the luxury the hotel offers. The staff were superb and friendly especially the butler service!! we can be lazy all we want because they take cares of everything.. literaly EVERYTHING!!
obviously i had an amazing time :) and Definitely will stay again at Regent Bali.

AHH i forgot to mention.. the butler cove is such an intelegent idea, when we did not want to be disturb we can just put or ask them to put the items in the butler cove, therefore they did not have to enter the suite!! so awesome!!

Room Tip: i stayed in 427, it is a deluxe suite with an ocean view.. and it was beautiful.. i would choose to...
