“Wonderful stay”

Staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. Pools were beautiful and you can't beat the oceanfront location. The breakfast was delicious. Room was very large and spacious. The balcony was an added bonus. Will definitely come back.

Room Tip: Ask to be in the renovated section closer to the beach. It's worth the extra cost.

Griya means home and that is exactly what you get staying at the Griya Santrian, Home away from Home. On arriving we found our room was not up to standard due to a moldy smell, and we were given a delux room for our stay. The staff were exceptional and the meals fantastic. We decided to not have breakfast included as we wanted to try other places in the area, but we found the food to be so good that we ate breakfast every morning at the Griya Santrian. We also took part in the Sanur Villiage Festival and we felt we were the guests of honour, such a wonderful experience. Overall the Griya Santrian is so good that we will be returning to this same resort, on our next trip, why go any where else when you have found perfection. Griya Santrian our little home away from home. I will also like to say were were shuttle from the airport by Tour East Indonisia (our contact was called Sila). He came back the next day and organised all the tours that we wanted to do over the 10 days, including tours such as the Elephant Camp. (this is a must do when your in Bali). Sila was excellent and understood our needs and catered to our requests. Highly recommend this company.

Room Tip: We stayed in 213, upstairs delux room that over looked the new renovations, but as we were out of th...

I too have cancelled my booking at the Griya. I will be in Bali in just over a weeks time and like others only found out via the comments on Trip Advisor that the beach restoration was taking place. I think that the Griya should have made contact with guests to advise them of this rather than having to stumble upon it here. I am disappointed, but with the help of a great travel agent I have now booked elsewhere.

We booked our honeymoon at Griya in August for the beginning of November & were blissfully unaware of the renovations & beach closure happening at the hotel. Only upon reading the posts below, did we become aware of the situation & contacted our booking agent who investigated it. The hotel confirmed renovations etc & offered a full refund without penalty.

I'm disappointed that we've had to cancel our stay as we booked the hotel based on the reviews, locality, style & beach access. I think it would be fair for the hotel to notify all upcoming guests of the above, so that they are not met with a surprise on arrival. Perhaps we will try again on our next visit to Bali.

We booked our November holiday months ago. In all this time we have not been told about any construction/renovations at the resort or the fact that the beach is under major restorations. We cancelled our holiday to this hotel yesterday after reading all the info on Tripadvisor. Is this the way that business is being done now. Don't inform guests, take their money and hope like heck they don't read Tripadvisor.

We were staying at a house, but visited this place for the day.

It is a lovely place, great pool, right next to beach, fabulous massages available, lovely food, nice cold drinks.

Kids had an absolute ball here, meeting and playing with other kids, while we enjoyed massages and drinks on a deckchair by the pool.

Outside guests purchase the "Sunshine Package" for R125,000 for adults. Kids R75,000. Under 5 - free. For that price (and the paying guests) - you get a towel, access to pool all day, and also lunch from a select menu - the menu was brilliant, tasty food and great portions. Found the day rate well worth it with the pool access and meal.

We been there 2 days in a row already and will be visiting a few more times no doubt.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Griya Santrian welcomes you to experience an enduring tale of warm traditional Balinese hospitality on the laid back sunrise coast of Sanur Beach. This beautiful beachfront resort, the sister property of Puri Santrian, is unmistakably among the most renowned landmarks in Sanur, gracing a perfectly central location on the quiet shore and with an unending classical design that continues to charm visitors, be it new and repeat visitors alike. Sanur is well known as a spot for luxurious seaside accommodation with its white sand beach bordering a reef-sheltered lagoon, making it one of the safest on the island, and thus perfect for families. As a luxuriant oasis in Sanur, Griya Santrian's enduring warm Balinese touches are imbued throughout its range of impeccable services and facilities. Leafy tropical Balinese gardens comprising flowering undergrowth and large shady trees (some older than the resort itself) dominate its manicured landscaping. And guests enjoy ease of access to the local shopping and dining hubs of Sanur, all within walking distance from the resort. At the heart of the Balinese owned and operated resort are its wonderful accommodation features - well designed and appointed guestrooms are spread throughout its two main wings. The two story Garden Wing comprises a total of 37 rooms with private balconies or terraces overlooking the resort's aforementioned lush gardens. Meanwhile, the ever popular Beach Wing features a total of 20 spacious rooms that let guests wake up to the wonderful garden view and the dramatic Sanur sunrises. Balconies or terraces also overlook the resort's main pool. Cable TV, mini-bar, hot and cold water, IDD telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, in-room safe and air conditioning all come as standard in-room amenities, to name a few. Alternatively, a choice of 59 Deluxe Rooms welcome guests to garden and pool views with some closer to the beach and feature en suite marble bathrooms and separate showers. For those who prefer a more lavish accommodation will find the Santrian Suite, a capacious suite with a 68 sqm bedroom with an elegantly draped four-poster bed as its center piece, together with a dressing room and private balcony. Designed with a refined modern Balinese approach, the suite serves as the ultimate romantic getaway for couples and honeymooners, while also great for families. For dining pleasures, Griya Santrian presents its main restaurants and outlets, which includes The Wantilan Restaurant, offering sumptuous breakfasts and all-day dining complemented by sweeping ocean views over the Sanur coastline. Meanwhile, Griya Beach Corner serves a wide choice of Italian, Japanese and Asian specialty dishes in a refreshing open-air setting. For a bit of romance, lovebirds can optionally spice things up with a bespoke candlelit dinner. The Spa at Griya Santrian is a thoughtfully designed and purpose built facility that offers a wide range of health and beauty treatments using natural fruit and flower extracts that will totally indulge you from top to toe. It's the go-to place within the resort grounds where guests can discover a great way to re-energize, refresh and rejuvenate during their stay. Griya Santrian opened in 1972 as a luxury boutique resort with a pride and commitment towards the preservation of Balinese arts and culture. While keeping to its roots and now in its fourth decade running, Griya Santrian continues to improve its facilities and services. The most recent addition includes a new wing room which was unveiled only last year, and repeat guests will also be surprised to see a new spa adjacent the resort's lobby, set to be completed this year. Several key facelifts are also well underway in 2016. ... more   less
