This was our first visit to the griya santrian, and we were amazed. We stayed in a garden wing room, which was clean and tidy all the time the cleaning staff do a great job always polite and smiling nothing is to much trouble for them. The swimming pool has a swim up bar and you can also sit in the bar area for a drink and order food which is very good, the barman tamu needs promoting as hes excellent at his job.The spa area needs to be a little more private as you can pretty much see everything when somebodys having a massage,The beach and grounds of this hotel are kept spotless we had no trouble with any of the staff. The staff through out the hotel do a brilliant job always smiling and polite. The hotel is in the centre of Sanur so is very close to all restaurants shops bars etc, it is well worth a trip out to sample the food and drinks. Thanks for a very memorable stay we will definetly be back in the near future !!!!!!!

First of all, the hotel itself is really nice. Nothing of Balinese stile, but well-done, with quite nice rooms and a beach. And its location is also good, in the center of Sanur beach, so many cafes around.
However if I had a chance I would change a hotel, because its service was very poor and not relaxing at all.
It seems like the main job of their staff is to protect the hotel from its guests, so you are always told (and sometimes in a rude way) lots of rules and restrictions they have. Like "one day - one towel" rule :) Their SPA is a space in the garden with 2 beds, I asked for a massage once, but had to stop it, course it was really bad. On the beach I got a massage much better and 2 times cheaper. They didn't take our laundry bag in time, even after calling to the room service. No wi-fi in the room (at the reception and restaurant area only). I was expected more from this quite expensive place. Finally – when we came for a moment to reception to call our relatives during a NY dinner, a waiter was running to us claiming we didn’t sign a bill! May be we were so suspicious 
Just to summarize: they do not know how to make your holidays relaxing. I will not go there and will not recommend it to my friends.

We have stayed a the Griya Santrian many many times, it's the only place in Sanur that we will stay.
The Beach Wing rooms are plenty big enough, always clean and comfortable .... cleaning staff do an amazing job, always with a smile.
The staff are friendly, helpful and excellent at their jobs....especially Tamu at the pool bar.

We just can't fault the Griya Santrian and we will be back there again ASAP!!!

Griya Santrian is a great place to stay, everything is pretty central to this location both along the beach or the main road. Although the Griya has great food it is close to many good restaurants. There is a small supermarket on the beach front not far away, and a large one about 10 mins walk along the road. All the staff are friendly and helpful. and they guy's in the bar and restaurant are great, "One more for the road" Guy's, "Bloody Good fun"

Room Tip: all the rooms we have stayed in are good from garden wing to Santiran Suite

From the moment we entered this hotel I knew it was going to be good. The decor/architecture of the hotel is just as you would hope for your Bali experience. Very serene, unique and so NOT big resort hotel. The beach was clean, quiet and beautiful. The price of the food was afordable and good. Loved the fruit drink concoctions and tried every one I think. We had a bed brought in our room for our son and had plenty of room. We had the suite. Can't fault this place. I would only suggest ceiling fans in the lobby. That's the only place to get WiFi and it gets HOT.

We stayed at the Griya during November with a large group for my Mum's 60th Birthday. I can't think of one single negative to say about our stay. We stayed in the Garden Wings, my brother had one that was a little run down (bathroom mainly) but it was still clean and tidy. But everyone else had rooms that left nothing to be desired - Awesome! Our bathroom was humungous and gorgeous. And the bed was the most comforable I've ever had in Bali; I wanted to pack it into my bag when it was time to leave!
There are three pools so you can choose whichever suits your fancy. The front one being populated at cocktail hour. The best Guave Mangorita's in the world! And at 45,000Rp we were more than happy during Happy Hour!
The staff are very courteous, accommodating and friendly. They were more than happy to help me setting up decorations for my Mum's party and even presented her with a birhtday cake!
The beach is amazingly beautiful and the water sports are highly recommended. We went canoeing and later rode the Banana boat. Great fun.
The travellers who accommodate the Griya also make it a fantastic stay. Everyone is very friendly and great to chat with in the pool.
I wouldn't even bother looking anywhere else, my choice is made.

Room Tip: We had room 138. I would ask for this room again; quiet, clean, awesome bathroom.

I would've more than happy to stay at the Griya Santrian again. Rooms were clean and comfortable, the included breakfasts were a good start to the day and spending hours lazing in and around the pool took no effort. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Griya Santrian welcomes you to experience an enduring tale of warm traditional Balinese hospitality on the laid back sunrise coast of Sanur Beach. This beautiful beachfront resort, the sister property of Puri Santrian, is unmistakably among the most renowned landmarks in Sanur, gracing a perfectly central location on the quiet shore and with an unending classical design that continues to charm visitors, be it new and repeat visitors alike. Sanur is well known as a spot for luxurious seaside accommodation with its white sand beach bordering a reef-sheltered lagoon, making it one of the safest on the island, and thus perfect for families. As a luxuriant oasis in Sanur, Griya Santrian's enduring warm Balinese touches are imbued throughout its range of impeccable services and facilities. Leafy tropical Balinese gardens comprising flowering undergrowth and large shady trees (some older than the resort itself) dominate its manicured landscaping. And guests enjoy ease of access to the local shopping and dining hubs of Sanur, all within walking distance from the resort. At the heart of the Balinese owned and operated resort are its wonderful accommodation features - well designed and appointed guestrooms are spread throughout its two main wings. The two story Garden Wing comprises a total of 37 rooms with private balconies or terraces overlooking the resort's aforementioned lush gardens. Meanwhile, the ever popular Beach Wing features a total of 20 spacious rooms that let guests wake up to the wonderful garden view and the dramatic Sanur sunrises. Balconies or terraces also overlook the resort's main pool. Cable TV, mini-bar, hot and cold water, IDD telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, in-room safe and air conditioning all come as standard in-room amenities, to name a few. Alternatively, a choice of 59 Deluxe Rooms welcome guests to garden and pool views with some closer to the beach and feature en suite marble bathrooms and separate showers. For those who prefer a more lavish accommodation will find the Santrian Suite, a capacious suite with a 68 sqm bedroom with an elegantly draped four-poster bed as its center piece, together with a dressing room and private balcony. Designed with a refined modern Balinese approach, the suite serves as the ultimate romantic getaway for couples and honeymooners, while also great for families. For dining pleasures, Griya Santrian presents its main restaurants and outlets, which includes The Wantilan Restaurant, offering sumptuous breakfasts and all-day dining complemented by sweeping ocean views over the Sanur coastline. Meanwhile, Griya Beach Corner serves a wide choice of Italian, Japanese and Asian specialty dishes in a refreshing open-air setting. For a bit of romance, lovebirds can optionally spice things up with a bespoke candlelit dinner. The Spa at Griya Santrian is a thoughtfully designed and purpose built facility that offers a wide range of health and beauty treatments using natural fruit and flower extracts that will totally indulge you from top to toe. It's the go-to place within the resort grounds where guests can discover a great way to re-energize, refresh and rejuvenate during their stay. Griya Santrian opened in 1972 as a luxury boutique resort with a pride and commitment towards the preservation of Balinese arts and culture. While keeping to its roots and now in its fourth decade running, Griya Santrian continues to improve its facilities and services. The most recent addition includes a new wing room which was unveiled only last year, and repeat guests will also be surprised to see a new spa adjacent the resort's lobby, set to be completed this year. Several key facelifts are also well underway in 2016. ... more   less
