Its very difficult to add anything but praise for this charming hotel that hasn't already been said in numerous reviews listed, other than to say its all true!
We wanted to do something special to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary and having been to Bali 8 years ago we thought it was worth the long trip from the UK to go again. Well we were not disappointed.
The weather was so hot and sunny every day, and lovely and warm through the evenings which made eating outside even more enjoyable - without the need to add a layer or two on after dark.
We had booked a Deluxe Room but were upgraded to a Suite located on the first floor. This was a lovely size room, had a very comfortable bed, a lovely balcony and all the usual facilities.
The choice of good restaurants both in the hotel and outside along the main road adjacent to the entrance meant you were spoilt for choice for places to eat including places for breakfast.
But overall, the experience of these charming people, their warmth and the relaxing atmosphere created by this hotel made this a truly unforgettable experience - we will be back.

Griya santriyan is for us five stars*****
Good service, when your lucky you can be a toerist on someone's wedding on the beach.
It's in the centre of sanur en there is a lot to do, with a variety of different restaurants and bars.
The weather in september is very hot, up to more than thirty degrees. From sanur to Kuta is about twenty minutes what we did, just for the waves which you have so close to the beach comparing to sanur.

We have just returned from 9 delightful days in Sanur - warm weather, great location (close to a safe beach, boardwalk, restaurants) and charming locals. The Griya Santrian had been recommended to us and we felt very comfortable there - the room was fine (we were upgraded to a room near the main pool), the grounds serene and the pool great fun for our 6 year old (and easy to relax by for the parents!). All the staff were so welcoming and friendly - my only "criticism" would be that they tended not to offer suggestions and we needed to probe for ideas on places to visit/things to do. Buffet breakfast good value (special deal once there - $25 for the three of us). We tended not to eat there for other meals, although it would have been easy to do so (but relatively more expensive than other options in the area with service/Govt charges added to everything). Also opted to have massages ec outside the resort as in-house was also more expensive. Great location.

Room Tip: Beachside rooms are close to main pool and beach.

We stayed at the Griya for 2 nights after a week in Ubud and would have to say we have very mixed emotions about it.

The grounds are indeed lovely with nice quiet pools and plenty of loungers (late September) and the location is on the quieter end of the beach. That said, our room really wasn't up to scratch at all. Very dirty, mouldy shower, broken fittings, 2 sad chairs and an old flickering tv.

We would have been happy with it had it been a cheap, hostel style option but a luxury resort as it's packaged it certainly is not!

Loved sanur, resort was great, great location, plenty of restaurants beach side or street side.pools great.A bit quieter than Legian side of island. We mix it up, spend time at both locations.Don't get bothered by hawkers at sanur like at kuta/legian.

Room Tip: we booked deluxe and was upgraded to suite close to middle pool.Smaller room would be still great.A...

This was my fourth stay at the Griya since 2000 and I thought a review was more than overdue. I can only say good things about this hotel from the fantastic location, helpful and friendly staff, beautiful gardens to the lovely rooms. Previously we have stayed in the garden wing rooms which have always been good enough for us but this time we upgraded to the deluxe room which was closer to the beach and newer with a balcony and day bed on it. Very nice particularly if you're upstairs. Every time we go there they are continually making improvements and I would recommend it to anyone.

We just spent 4.5 days at this resort and found the staff could not be more helpful. The grounds are beautiful and are always maintained on daily basis. We had a garden room upstairs as far back as you could go, and while my first thought was not great (some road noise) the pool more than made up for it.

If I stayed here again and I certainly hope to I would spend the bit extra for a delixe room.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Griya Santrian welcomes you to experience an enduring tale of warm traditional Balinese hospitality on the laid back sunrise coast of Sanur Beach. This beautiful beachfront resort, the sister property of Puri Santrian, is unmistakably among the most renowned landmarks in Sanur, gracing a perfectly central location on the quiet shore and with an unending classical design that continues to charm visitors, be it new and repeat visitors alike. Sanur is well known as a spot for luxurious seaside accommodation with its white sand beach bordering a reef-sheltered lagoon, making it one of the safest on the island, and thus perfect for families. As a luxuriant oasis in Sanur, Griya Santrian's enduring warm Balinese touches are imbued throughout its range of impeccable services and facilities. Leafy tropical Balinese gardens comprising flowering undergrowth and large shady trees (some older than the resort itself) dominate its manicured landscaping. And guests enjoy ease of access to the local shopping and dining hubs of Sanur, all within walking distance from the resort. At the heart of the Balinese owned and operated resort are its wonderful accommodation features - well designed and appointed guestrooms are spread throughout its two main wings. The two story Garden Wing comprises a total of 37 rooms with private balconies or terraces overlooking the resort's aforementioned lush gardens. Meanwhile, the ever popular Beach Wing features a total of 20 spacious rooms that let guests wake up to the wonderful garden view and the dramatic Sanur sunrises. Balconies or terraces also overlook the resort's main pool. Cable TV, mini-bar, hot and cold water, IDD telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, in-room safe and air conditioning all come as standard in-room amenities, to name a few. Alternatively, a choice of 59 Deluxe Rooms welcome guests to garden and pool views with some closer to the beach and feature en suite marble bathrooms and separate showers. For those who prefer a more lavish accommodation will find the Santrian Suite, a capacious suite with a 68 sqm bedroom with an elegantly draped four-poster bed as its center piece, together with a dressing room and private balcony. Designed with a refined modern Balinese approach, the suite serves as the ultimate romantic getaway for couples and honeymooners, while also great for families. For dining pleasures, Griya Santrian presents its main restaurants and outlets, which includes The Wantilan Restaurant, offering sumptuous breakfasts and all-day dining complemented by sweeping ocean views over the Sanur coastline. Meanwhile, Griya Beach Corner serves a wide choice of Italian, Japanese and Asian specialty dishes in a refreshing open-air setting. For a bit of romance, lovebirds can optionally spice things up with a bespoke candlelit dinner. The Spa at Griya Santrian is a thoughtfully designed and purpose built facility that offers a wide range of health and beauty treatments using natural fruit and flower extracts that will totally indulge you from top to toe. It's the go-to place within the resort grounds where guests can discover a great way to re-energize, refresh and rejuvenate during their stay. Griya Santrian opened in 1972 as a luxury boutique resort with a pride and commitment towards the preservation of Balinese arts and culture. While keeping to its roots and now in its fourth decade running, Griya Santrian continues to improve its facilities and services. The most recent addition includes a new wing room which was unveiled only last year, and repeat guests will also be surprised to see a new spa adjacent the resort's lobby, set to be completed this year. Several key facelifts are also well underway in 2016. ... more   less
