“GGreat location, three fabulous pools, fantastic restaurants nearby”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2012

We love to stay on the Sanur beach side of Bali. The Griya Santrian is in a great location, close to the Sindhu Beach Markets and restaurants, it's right on the beach and has three swimming pools, all different. The grounds are attractive, especially at night, there is a large area for free wireless internet activity. Our room was nice although the bathroom was a bit outdated. Ours was a garden wing room and next time I would probably upgrade the room, just for a few more modern touches like a larger TV, better bathroom lighting, a larger bath, hooks behind the door, a rubbish bin in the room, but the bed was the most comfortable I had ever slept in and it was huge! We had a fabulous stay, looking forward to staying at the Griya Santrian again.

This is a lovely hotel. We stay in the Beach Wing which overlooks the lovely pool. The hotel grounds are magnificent with beautiful gardens and pools. The pool at the front of the hotel Connects directly with the beach and is fantastic. Have stayed in other hotels before we found the Griya Santrian, but once we stayed there always return to this hotel.

Room Tip: The Beach Wing Deluxe Rooms are great. I

Great sized Hotel - not too big, nice spacious deluxe room, good food and excellent service in a great location, Lots of nice shops and restaurants out on the main street at the rear. Nice to sit and have breakfast (and any other meal) overlooking the ocean which is right at the front of the Hotel. Just a lovely holiday!

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are worth the extra near the pool or the garden which is also near another pool

I have been to Bali and stayed in Sanur many times.I enjoyed my stay at the Griya, but it lacks something to make it stand out from many other Sanur hotels. There are cheaper hotels which offer the same quality and service.

We have just had 8 wonderful nights at the Griya. We went with friends who are new to Sanur, and were very stressed and worn out from work. The Griya was just what the Dr. ordered. We were greeted like royalty on arrival, given a fresh towel and welcome drink on arrival, and once the paper work was taken care of,we checked in to our rooms. We arrived at 1130 am,so didnt expect to be able to have immediate access to our rooms, but they were ready and waiting. And so commenced our holiday. I cant fault this hotel with anything. The staff are so warm and friendly, food a great standard-hotel prices, but beautuifully presented. The view is peaceful-nothing like looking out over the ocean as you eat. We all had standard poolside rooms, upstairs and they were extremmely comfortable, and had usually been cleaned by the time we returned from breakfast., so that was around 9.30ish. The location is perfect for all Sanur has to offer. We swam in all three pools, all sparkly clean with plenty of pool lounges. I have stayed in other hotels in the area, and have enjoyed all, but i would have to say that this is my new favourite. My friends loved the hotel and Sanur, and we have all declared that we will be back!!

Room Tip: We choose our rooms for location and budget, but after loking around, i think all rooms are a good l...

My lovely wife & I took our 3 young boys (aged 6, 4 & 15 months) over to Sanur late May for 11 nights & had the trip of our lives. I cannot highly recommend enough the facilities, position, staff & service of all at Griya Santrian. All amenities are spotless, the beach is very peaceful & you don't get hounded to buy, buy, buy like you do in Kuta/Legian. We got interconnecting garden suites (RM 235 & 236) which is in a very quiet & private part of the resort, so a great place for families with young ones. The suites are absolutely beautiful, so too are the pools, especially the main one with the swim-up bar ! Outside the front gates there are wonderful (and very safe) restaurants in Mona Lisa, 3 Monkeys,The Village, RIB, Cinnamon Cafe,The Wicked Parrot, Mango (on the beach) & the Griya do an amazing beach bbq on Monday & Friday nights (not cheap but definitely well worth it) & their luches on the beach are great too. Do yourself & your family a favour. Stay at Griya Santrian. We are definitely coming back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Griya Santrian welcomes you to experience an enduring tale of warm traditional Balinese hospitality on the laid back sunrise coast of Sanur Beach. This beautiful beachfront resort, the sister property of Puri Santrian, is unmistakably among the most renowned landmarks in Sanur, gracing a perfectly central location on the quiet shore and with an unending classical design that continues to charm visitors, be it new and repeat visitors alike. Sanur is well known as a spot for luxurious seaside accommodation with its white sand beach bordering a reef-sheltered lagoon, making it one of the safest on the island, and thus perfect for families. As a luxuriant oasis in Sanur, Griya Santrian's enduring warm Balinese touches are imbued throughout its range of impeccable services and facilities. Leafy tropical Balinese gardens comprising flowering undergrowth and large shady trees (some older than the resort itself) dominate its manicured landscaping. And guests enjoy ease of access to the local shopping and dining hubs of Sanur, all within walking distance from the resort. At the heart of the Balinese owned and operated resort are its wonderful accommodation features - well designed and appointed guestrooms are spread throughout its two main wings. The two story Garden Wing comprises a total of 37 rooms with private balconies or terraces overlooking the resort's aforementioned lush gardens. Meanwhile, the ever popular Beach Wing features a total of 20 spacious rooms that let guests wake up to the wonderful garden view and the dramatic Sanur sunrises. Balconies or terraces also overlook the resort's main pool. Cable TV, mini-bar, hot and cold water, IDD telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, in-room safe and air conditioning all come as standard in-room amenities, to name a few. Alternatively, a choice of 59 Deluxe Rooms welcome guests to garden and pool views with some closer to the beach and feature en suite marble bathrooms and separate showers. For those who prefer a more lavish accommodation will find the Santrian Suite, a capacious suite with a 68 sqm bedroom with an elegantly draped four-poster bed as its center piece, together with a dressing room and private balcony. Designed with a refined modern Balinese approach, the suite serves as the ultimate romantic getaway for couples and honeymooners, while also great for families. For dining pleasures, Griya Santrian presents its main restaurants and outlets, which includes The Wantilan Restaurant, offering sumptuous breakfasts and all-day dining complemented by sweeping ocean views over the Sanur coastline. Meanwhile, Griya Beach Corner serves a wide choice of Italian, Japanese and Asian specialty dishes in a refreshing open-air setting. For a bit of romance, lovebirds can optionally spice things up with a bespoke candlelit dinner. The Spa at Griya Santrian is a thoughtfully designed and purpose built facility that offers a wide range of health and beauty treatments using natural fruit and flower extracts that will totally indulge you from top to toe. It's the go-to place within the resort grounds where guests can discover a great way to re-energize, refresh and rejuvenate during their stay. Griya Santrian opened in 1972 as a luxury boutique resort with a pride and commitment towards the preservation of Balinese arts and culture. While keeping to its roots and now in its fourth decade running, Griya Santrian continues to improve its facilities and services. The most recent addition includes a new wing room which was unveiled only last year, and repeat guests will also be surprised to see a new spa adjacent the resort's lobby, set to be completed this year. Several key facelifts are also well underway in 2016. ... more   less
