Just returned from the Mentari where i spent 6 days. Its not in the main part of Sanur so you will need to get a taxi to and fro but that should only cost you around$2 au. It is in a little street and you will need to let your driver know its behind dunkin donuts where you will see a small sign. Once you enter the Mentari you will be pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the gardens are and how peaceful the place is-just a hum of serene balanise music in the background. The rooms are large, the bed is huge king size and comfortable, It is clean and they provide a delicous breakfast which you chose from american/continental/indonesian-all lovely and plenty --we were never hungry. The staff are helpful and never pushy-just there when you need them. The only thing that i would say lets the Mentari down is the dated furniture and the fact they dont have coffee/tea facilities in the room-which should be standard but this is not a huge issue, considering I only paid $50Au a night! The Mentari is the place you come to relax and unwind. Its great for couples and families, I would not recommend this place for young people who want to party. Would I return to the Mentari-of course!

Room Tip: We stayed in the pool rooms but they are no different from the garden rooms. The garden rooms may be...

We stayed for 4 nights in April. The hotel is about 50 meters down a small side street, but once you enter the property it opens up with a nice garden and pool. The rooms are basically urnished with limited amenities, but fairly large. The bed was comfortable and I was pleased with the cleanliness. The restaurant was good and slightly more expensive than nearby restaurants, but the garden setting offser that difference. I particularly liked the breakfast. While the selection is modest, it is an actual cooked breakfast instead of a buffet. The hotel is about a 250 meter walk to the beach. The staff was very good. All in all I was very pleased and will stay here again if we return to Sanur.

Stayed at Mentari sanur hotel for 4 nights. Hotel is good, good pool area, nice rooms. Close to the beach but pretty far away from restaurants and bars in Sanur. But the staff at the frontdesk helped us with cabs. So getting somewhere wasn´t any problem

The Mentari Sanur Hotel is a very relaxing hotel in tourist-friendly, low-key Sanur. It is a good place to rest and recover at the beginning or end of your visit to Bali. Some also like it for long-term stays.

It is conveniently located off Jl. Hangtuah, 100 meters north up a driveway directly opposite the entry to the huge Inna Grand Bali Hotel. This is where taxis and bemos turn around, so public transport is easily available. An airport transfer is about 11 USD each way, although some taxi drivers will accept less.

The north end of Sanur beach, with slow and fast ferry service to Lembongan Island and a wonderful beachfront promenade, is a short walk east. The main ring road to the airport or to Ubud is a short walk west (there is a KFC and a Dunkin Donuts at that intersection).

The Mentari Sanur Hotel is built in a modern Balinese style using concrete and tile. This makes for good air-conditioning and good sound-proofing.

There is a small lobby at the entrance, a large open air restaurant pavilion, and two blocks of rooms, one facing the restaurant and the other facing the pool.

The grounds are too small for a full garden, but the walkways between buildings and the pool area are beautifully landscaped and very well-maintained by a gardener who seems to work non-stop.

The pool is quite large and very clean. The only drawback is that the surrounding pool deck is relatively narrow, with only nine lounge chairs for about 40 rooms. A masseuse offers massages in a pavilion overlooking the pool.

Rooms are spacious and well-maintained, a mini-bar in each room offers a place to store snacks and buy drinks. Bathrooms are faux marble with a shower rather than a tub. Every room has a balcony or patio with chairs and a small table.

The upstairs rooms have greater privacy since walkways pass by all of the patio entries of the downstairs rooms. Older (often long-stay) guests seemed to prefer the patio rooms. Upstairs rooms overlook the tops of frangipani trees. There is no great benefit to having a pool rather than a garden view room in my opinion.

A CRT TV is in each room, but only the National Geographic channel (more gruesome than I imagined) is in English, and no satellite or cable programs are available.

Two small bottles of drinking water are free per room per day, with no water tank for refilling personal water bottles. However, a mini-mart is around the corner and has inexpensive water and snacks.

A pleasant breakfast (Balinese or western style) is included in the room rate. The restaurant has reasonable prices but did not appear very active when I was there. Both the restaurant and reception areas had open free wi-fi.

The staff is friendly and does an excellent job.

Through expedia I got a nice discount, about half the rack rate. Long stays may offers special rates, but I did not explore that possibility.

In summary, I would happily stay at the Mentari Sanur Hotel again, especially if I obtained a good discount. It offers more privacy than the Sanur beachfront hotels and is very conveniently located for the beach and for transportation options.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms all have balconies and are more private than downstairs rooms which all have patio en...
