We stayed for 10 nights and enjoyed every minute. The hotel is located at the bottom end of the main street that runs for about 3 miles through Sanur. It is therefore very handily placed for the many restaurants and gift shops that line the street.

The hotel itself is stunning. Almost brand new, it has everything you could need for a relaxing stay. It's small (34 rooms), but that is good, as it means you really get to know the staff and they could not be more friendly or eager to please. In fact, returning to the hotel after a busy afternoon walking, cycling or sightseeing is like coming home. Once you enter the hotel the courtyard is a haven of peace and quiet and the staff seemed genuinely pleased to see you. Without exception they were all friendly, happy to chat and keen to ensure you had everything you needed. The staff were all great but I would like to mention Gusti and Anni from the restaurant, who both provided excellent service throughout our stay.

Our room was on the second floor, which is actually the top floor, looking out on the courtyard. It was large, comfortable and very peaceful. The bed was huge with sliding doors separating the bedroom from the shower room. We had breakfast every morning, which apart from the last day was served a la carte. We also ate in the Ares restaurant and the food was excellent. We booked a transfer to and from the airport, which is a must, as the airport is a bit chaotic and there is nothing better after a long journey than to see a smartly dressed man with a board with your name on it. To make the experience complete he also had water and a cold flannel to freshen up with. This attention to detail was to prove a common theme throughout our stay.

We also made use of the hotel's car and driver for two trips. They were both reasonably priced and the driver, Loca-Loca was his name, was great. He spoke really good English, was quite willing to be flexible to meet our needs and provided a good insight into all the places we visited. We made use of the free cycles, but avoid Sanur's rush hour if you want a relaxing ride.

The only negatives and I am really being a bit picky here, were the beach club, which is not great, more of a line of sunbeds set behind numerous fishing boats that are someway from the sea and a lack of draw space to unpack into. We kept most of our clothes in a our suitcases, which is not ideal if you are there for a long stay. That's it really, nothing much to criticise and we would definitely recommend the Sudamala Suites for anyone who is looking for great service, a relaxing environment and a good location from which to explore Sanur and the beautiful island of Bali.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 323 which was on the second/top floor and looked out over the courtyard. It was ve...

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 14 nights. Nothing was every a bother, hired the bikes just about every day and rode everywhere. Loved it.
Great Laundry across the road from Sudamala, cheap and your clothes came back smelling beautiful.
Everybody from the Reception Staff to the breakfast staff, housekeeping where fantastic.
I have nothing but praise for this hotel and hope they keep up the great service.
We had a Deluxe Room and it was beautiful.
We will return and looking forward to also staying at the new hotel on Lombok next year.
So Sudamala Terima Kasih banyak!!!!

We had 3 lovely nights stay at the start of our visit to Bali. Superb service, great facilities, good sized pool and just a short walk to the beach and the main restaurants on the beach. You can hire bikes from the hotel, 2 hours free rental each day which is great for exploring:)

This hotel was stunning! Our room was absolutely beautiful and very Balinese in style. The property itself was also gorgeous and very relaxing. The service was great and the breakfast was delicious. The pool was beautiful as well and since it's not a huge resort, it never felt over-crowded. They also offer fantastic yoga classes in the spa area and you can even pay for a private yoga lesson.

There were at lot of mosquitos in the evening here and the bathrooms are open-air with no real closed-in window. Because of this the staff would burn mosquito coils in the bathroom at night which was very cloying and made it difficult to sleep. Ask them not to and I'm sure they'd oblige. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: Ask them not to burn mosquito coils directly in your room.

Superb location, great restaurant on the street, fabulous food and not expensive. Rooms 2nd level good size, great bed, decor lovely. Pool service slow, not enough sun beds although they did say arriving, pool in sun all day for sun lovers. Not a real buffett breakfast as such however the breakfast menu is good, great omelettes. Book on the net as room charges are very high, great value from Agoda, all in all
A SENSATIONAL venue, highly recommend.

My husband and 10 month old daughter have just had a lovely week long stay at
Sudmala.

We got an early bird special and paid only $140USD for our deluxe courtyard suite (the entry level room). It was fabulous.... clean, spacious and a little bit luxurious. Great bed, a nice courtyard with a Balinese day bed outside and an open air shower and toilet. We didnt look at the more expensive rooms but we had ample space for the portacot etc, it was more the size of a studio apartment minus the kitchen than a hotel room.

Positives:
- very friendly and helpful staff.... Or maybe having a baby with us made this more pronounced. Our baby was warmly greeted by name by the staff everywhere we went.
- great coffee in the restaurant, which was included with the breakfast. We had two very respectable lattes every day, the coffee was definitely good enough to be served in a Brunswick St cafe.
- very nice toiletry products in the bathroom
- great room as mentioned already
- a decent location, 5 or 10 minutes walk to the beach, lots of eating options close by and a few small shops and street vendors
- a fairly impressive pool that was never too crowded, we were there in peak season and could always find a pair of sunbeds. It was sometimes hard to get poolside service for lunch or a drink as the service staff just came past occasionally.
- it's only been open 8 months so everything is nice and shiny new
- the day spa do great massages and facials, I had to book a day ahead to get an appointment so other guests were obviously enjoying it too

Negatives:
- no wifi in the rooms, but we were close enough to the pool to get it in the room anyway on the iPhone but not the iPad
- The rooms aren't very mosquito proof... as part of the turn down service every night the staff light coils and plug a thing into the wall to discourage them. We found the only thing that really worked was to spray the whole room with killer before bed (which we didn't like doing because of our baby), but even then a few survived. Unfortunately I think this is a fairly common problem in Bali because of the way the doors are designed. Our room also had a really high vaulted ceiling, so killing them all was near impossible.
- the rooster who lives next door is very noisy.... We kept wishing someone would eat him for dinner! One night a dog got in amongst the chickens and caused quite a ruckus. I believe the deluxe courtyard suites are the worst affected by the rooster as the doors face toward a vacant type lot where the chickens must live. It didn't bother my husband and I wore ear plugs, however the people next door to us were moved to a deluxe garden suite around the corner and were much happier and slept better.
- the restaurant put on a decent breakfast (and the coffee was excellent however the juice was not), but for dinner it's overpriced and not very impressive. There are loads of better options within 100m of the resort so we only ate there the first night. I feel a bit bad about bagging the restaurant as the staff were so nice, but the food let it down.

All in all we had a fabulous stay and would recommend this place to others, however be warned about the mozzies and the rooster!

Myself and Parner stayed at the Sudamala from the 5th to the 12th August. Whilst the hotel does not front the beach, it is only a short 5 minute walk away. The hotel and its gallery, spa, gardens and pool are all wonderful and the complex is peace personified. If you want to really relax stay here. What sets the hotel apart are the wonderful staff, who are so friendly and attentive and cannot do enough for their guests. It was my partner's birthday whilst we were there and the staff arranged some wonderful surprises. I had the opportunity to meet the owner Ben and must congratulate him for putting together such a wonderfull staff and for building such a lovely tranquil hotel. My only small criticism would be the same comment as ab_trom regarding the restaurant. Whilst the breakfasts are great and the lunch meals we had clearly showed the food was of good standard, the setting of the restaurant close to the road was not ideal. Perhaps more could be made of the lovely garden area behind or even tables set up around the pool? That said, I would not hesitate in recommending the Sudamala to all who travel to Bali and if you stay in Sanur do not stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 322 which overlooks the pool and would recommend it.
